Not playing games anymore

It seems crazy to some people, not playing games anymore while you used to play them a lot. As weird as it might sound this does happen to some people. There are several reasons why this could happen but it usually comes down to not having any time left in the day to spend on games. That´s sad but unfortunately that´s reality for some people.

Can you combine work with games?

If your work involves playing games then yes you can, if it´s not then I find it unlikely that you can combine your work with games and expect to get good results. For example if you´re a journalist and you write about games then it makes sense that you know something about games and thus play games, but you can´t play games when you´re writing so even in that situation work would always have to come first. If you´re a youtuber that earns money with videos you make where you play games then you can combine work with games because playing games is your work more or less. It´s rough if you can play games because of your work but since that brings food on the table I wouldn´t ignore it or spend too much time on games, I´m certain you have moments in your life that you can spend on playing games and that means those moments will become more precious.

But what if you have a family, can you combine family life with games?

With young kids I´d say no, because playing games while your baby is crying is just wrong! But when your kids are a bit older you could introduce games to them, of course the family friendly games and not some 18+ survival horror game. But it´s not just you and the kids, usually there is also a partner and if he or she doesn´t like games then it might be a bit more difficult to introduce games to your kids. Because if he or she doesn´t want the kids to play games then I doubt it´s a good idea to do it anyway, of course you can talk about it but if someone is really against that then there isn´t much you can do about that. Which means less time for you to play games, at least for as long as the kids are around. I don´t think it happens a lot that your partner would forbid you to play games with kids but I wouldn´t say that it never happens.

Can you also get enough of games?

Absolutely, I´ve had moments myself that I had enough of playing games. But that usually means a month or two without games and then after that I start playing again. There´s nothing wrong with that and it´s actually not a bad idea to take a break from gaming every now and then, too much of something isn´t a good thing! But if you do reach a point where games are just not fun for you anymore then it´s probably better that you stop, you shouldn´t force yourself to do something you don´t like. Which might be strange for your friends that do like to play games, but that doesn´t mean you can´t stay friends. Sometimes when people get older things change, certain things you once liked are then less interesting and it´s nothing weird. It´s part of growing up and not everyone enjoys the same things. Games aren´t the most important thing, but that doesn´t make it a crime if you do like them and like to spend a lot of time playing them. Just make certain that it doesn´t mess up your personal life, your job performance or something else that is important to you!
