Destiny won´t last much longer?
At least that´s what a lot of people say, this is nothing new but now it´s not just haters that are saying it. These speculations are based upon the disappointment of the dark below dlc and the house of wolves dlc will launch later than expected, this could be bad for Destiny because even die hard fans get bored with the same stuff sooner or later. So what does that mean for the future of Destiny?
What can you expect from Destiny this year?
First of all there will be the house of wolves dlc which will launch in the second quarter of this year, which means in April, May or June. If you want to believe the rumors then there will be a big expansion and more dlc coming later this year, but that might be too late if Bungie keeps this up. Why? Because a lot of people are tired of playing the same missions and working hard trying to get loot that never seems to drop, you get tired of that real fast when the future doesn´t show any improvement towards that. For example the only event you see is the iron banner event and a lot of people don´t like PvP and those that do like it probably already have what they wanted because the iron banner event has been available for several times and it´s time for something else! Then there´s Xur with exotic armor and weapons, but half of the time he offers the same stuff and that´s hardly worth logging in for on Friday or Saturday. Bounties often lure you back to the missions you´ve probably played a lot of times by now, so what keeps people in the game at this point?
Why do people stop playing Destiny?
I think a lot of people are just tired, they´re tired of not getting the loot they want and don´t want to play for hours hoping to get something good which often leads to disappointment. At this point a lot of people are even saving up strange coins so they can buy nice exotic gear, but somehow Xur hardly ever has something people really want. Destiny can be brutal if you really want something because there´s a good chance that you´ll never get it or at least it will take quite some time before you get it. Not everyone has that much patience and/or time for that, because there are a lot of other fun games out there and people would like to play those as well. So as long as Destiny doesn´t change I think that the game will bleed dry, sooner or later.
So what needs to change?
I´d say more missions in different places, especially for the PvE people. How about letting people go to Mercury or to one of the moons of Jupiter or Saturn? I think in the house of wolves dlc you get to go to Deimos (one of the two moons of Mars) so that´s a good start, but it´s not just for one mission we want more! I would also like to see the chance on getting good loot increased, no I don´t say that you should get everything you want just like that but it´s rough that when you played the game for five months that you still don´t have certain exotic weapons like Gjallarhorn or Truth. It´s nice if Xur would offer these at least more than just once. But it´s also nice if there are more events, for example bring back the Queen´s wrath event or maybe come up with something else than the iron banner event. I seriously doubt that there are a lot of people that are actually excited about the iron banner event because I´ve seen that one four times already and I had enough fun in that the first time. Besides it´s nice if there are more PvE events because a lot of people prefer to stick to that. To keep it simple, keep the game fresh! Make every week an experience with new things and fun things to do. I´m not saying people won´t move on but at least you´re rewarding the people that do want to stick around and perhaps you can even convince people to come back. At this point anything that is new seems like a good idea, just please stop with the same old shit!
