There might be a Red Dead Redemption sequel?

I can hardly believe it but there are rumors that there might be a sequel to Red Dead Redemption, once again I´d like to say that this is a rumor and not something that is confirmed! But it would be great news to everyone that loves Red Dead Redemption! A game that a lot of people have played and most likely also enjoyed playing. From what I´ve heard it seems that some of the developers think that Red Dead Redemption shouldn´t be just one game but a game series, which means more games and that´s good news if you enjoyed playing Red Dead Redemption! Unfortunately that´s about all that was said about that, which means there is nothing confirmed and that all we can do is hope that these rumors are true. Can you take such rumors seriously? I think you can, if these rumors come from the developers and not some fan then I´d like to put some faith into that. Because why would the developers start such rumors if there isn´t some truth in that? Of course they´re smart enough not to confirm ...

Youtube comments, it´s a popularity contest?

I don´t have many good things to say about youtube comments, often they´re just a waste of time and I wouldn´t recommend people to read them. Especially not when these comments are under a movie trailer or game trailer video, if people don´t spoil something then it´s often a lot of negativity to fill an ocean with! But now it´s also full of attention whores, people that have this need to get likes and often do get a lot of likes for no real reason. Strange you say? No they´re youtube comments, so don´t expect anything smart and you will not be disappointed! Asking for likes? This is nothing new, people that want to get likes for their comment and will even ask for them in the comment itself. These comments aren´t always a succes, most times people will respond negative towards these requests and are often banned to the bottom of the youtube comment section. But now you have douchebags that have no life, they appear on almost every populair game and/or movie youtube...

R.I.P. Kinect?

With the news that the Xbox One will become available without the Kinect and is a lot cheaper without it, but let´s not forget that they might also be able to boost the power of the Xbox One without the Kinect, I can´t help but wonder what this will mean for the Kinect. Because developers will probably prefer to be able to make their games better on an improved Xbox One than to include Kinect in their games which is something not a lot of people seem to use anyway. So in other words, R.I.P. Kinect? Who uses the Kinect anyway? Well not me, I never bought it for the Xbox 360 and I had no intention of using it when I buy the Xbox One. But now with the news that the Xbox One will be available without the Kinect and is a lot cheaper I don´t see any reason to get the Kinect! Sure there are some games that make use of the Kinect and other games are only playable with the Kinect, but I can´t say that there has ever been a game for the Kinect that I had to play. Nor do I believe that there ev...

Watchdogs

Have you played Watchdogs? Are you curious about Watchdogs? Then I have a bit of information to share with you, at least if you´re interested in reading about it! This isn´t a review, this is just my personal experience with the game and I´m giving you my opinion about the game as well. But to keep things short, is this game worth buying? Yes it is! It´s just like GTA V or not? It´s easy to compare this game with GTA V and in a way you would be right that there are things that these games have in common, but let´s not forget that the only use for your phone in GTA games is to call contacts while in Watchdogs it does so much more! In Watchdogs you´re a vigilante and that´s not what you are in GTA V, you also get a reputation and this is another thing I haven´t seen in GTA V. So if you kill a lot of innocents or criminals then you get a bad name and if you ´arrest´ criminals and protect the innocents then you´re getting a good name. Right now I´m working on...

Why do you play games?

It seems a simple question, but you get a lot of different answers on this questions. You might expect people to play just for fun, but you´d be wrong! In fact a lot of people have more than one reason to play games, which makes sense because gaming is much more than just a hobby to some people. I bet you wouldn´t guess that some of the reasons aren´t that innocent, because gaming can be an addictive hobby and sometimes get people in trouble. But it´s not all bad, for some people gaming is a way to escape the real world and find some peace in a virtual world. I´m going to take a closer look to some of these reasons and hopefully find a good reason to play games! I think a lot of people play games for fun and in my opinion this is the best reason to play games! Who cares about anything else when you and your friends are just having a good time, isn´t that the way you want to play games? Well fun doesn´t mean the same thing to everyone, eventhough a lot of people consider fun to have a...

Looking back at.....Mario Kart: Double Dash!

This isn´t the first Mario kart game and yet it´s probably my favourite that I´ve played, because I like how you have two people in a kart instead of just one. Which means some crazy switching of character and create some nasty combos for your opponents. Of course there are new versions of Mario kart and those look probably better but that doesn´t take away the fun I´ve had with this game! In Mario Kart: Double Dash you have two people in your kart instead of one, something they did for the first time in the Mario kart games. You can select both characters so you can make some interesting pairs, but depending on your character you´ll often have to stick to a certain type of kart. For example Bowser is heavy and doesn´t fit in the small and medium size karts, which means he can only sit in the large karts. But you still have several karts to choose from and the racing levels are still just as crazy as you remember them! The power ups are also wacky but sometimes quite effective, espec...

Sinful Sunday: When a match crashes...

Have you ever played a multiplayer match and then in the last couple of minutes suddenly out of nowhere the match crashes and you´re back in the game lobby? That sucks, especially when you´re in the winning team. To be honest with you, I´ve only seen this happening when I was in the winning team. I´ve been in teams where we would lose big time from others but then the match never seems to crash, but the moment the roles are reversed then the match crashes. Which makes me believe that this isn´t just an accident, people are behind this! Ok I don´t want to sound like a loon that´s trying to convince of some weird conspiracy theory, no I´m just saying that sometimes when people rage quit they make the match crash. Often because they´re the host and the game can´t find another host quick enough and/or there aren´t enough people in the match. In both situations the match will often crash and you´re back in the game lobby, which is very lame if that happens when you´re so close to winning....

Half Life 3 and L4D 3 confirmed?

I think in the last couple of years so many people have made jokes about Half Life 3 that nobody takes this serious anymore, up to the point where any news that could actually be truth is still taken as another stupid joke. I don´t blame people who refuse to believe that, because if you´ve seen and/or heard the amount of Half Life 3 confirmed jokes then it´s no suprise that people don´t believe it just like that. How do you know it´s the truth? That´s just the problem, you don´t know! I mean you can have sources that seem to be honest, but after the amount of Half Life 3 confirmed jokes I don´t think a lot of  people will believe anyone who would claim it´s the truth. Which is a good thing, you shouldn´t believe other people just like that. If you want people to trust you then you should have some proof, especially if you say something bold like the confirmation of a game that a lot of people have been waiting for! But now it seems more and more people seem to cling on this wis...

The rise of the female super hero!

When there are a lot of rumors going on about something then there´s a good chance that there is a part of that true, at least I certainly hope so! All this talking about a Ms Marvel movie really makes me hope that these rumors are true, because after a lot of male super heroes finding their way on the bg screen it would be nice to see some female super heroes there as well! Why Ms Marvel? Well she´s pretty cool, also she would fit well with the Avengers and other projects like that show about Jessica Jones. But let´s be honest, she´s beautiful and she´s powerful so why the hell not? You might think why not make a movie about another female super hero? Well if Ms Marvel is going to work out well then that will only be the start of something big and let´s not forget that Wonder Woman is also ready to shine in Batman vs Superman, so why knows how that will turn out. I really hope that this will lead to more female (super) heroes because I don´t mind some girl power! Wasn´t t...

Who is the Arkham Knight?

After finally seeing the Arkham Knight in the latest Batman Arkham Knight trailer it´s time to really start speculating who that guy is. Of course I don´t have any inside information so you only get speculation from me, but who knows maybe I´m pretty close to the truth! There will be spoilers here, so if you haven´t read the Batman comics or played the Batman Arkham games then I strongly suggest you don´t read anything else! First suspect: Jason Todd. Anyone that knows the Batman comics is probably familiar with Jason Todd, he was the second Robin and was murdered by the Joker. But he came back to life, no zombie business, and is angry because Batman didn´t avenge his death. In the comics he became Red Hood but in this Arkham game he might become the Arkham Knight. The problem I have with this theory is that there is no mention of Jason Todd in any of the other games, the same counts for the cartoons and I´d say there is probably a pretty big group of people that has never h...

Titanfall, after the hype

A lot of people were excited about this game, it was Titanfall this and Titanfall that. Titanfall would crush Call of Duty and it would be the best game ever. Let´s not forget that people that say things like that are often the same people that comment on almost every CoD video saying how much it sucks. But now more than two months of the Xbox One release and more than a month after the Xbox 360 release I can´t help but wonder, are people still that excited about this game? In just a couple of weeks I´ve heard a lot of people that were so bored with Titanfall that they went back to CoD Ghosts, yes that game that´s supposedly so bad. What does that say about Titanfall? Of course these are just groups of people, in some cases just individuals that have an outspoken opinion, and they don´t represent the majority but it´s still interesting to see how quickly some people lost interest in a game that was considered to be the best game ever. What happened to Titanfall? I think nothing rea...

It´s unhealthy to be a gamer?

There was a time that gamers were seen as people with glasses, thin, pale and without friends. Maybe some people still see gamers like that, but things have changed and it´s not just that this is how other people see gamers. Now people warn parents to be careful with letting their kids play games because they could get addicted and then they´ll turn into unhealthy kids! As silly as this sounds there is some truth in this, because being a gamer isn´t always that healthy. What´s unhealthy about gaming? The biggest problem is usually that you sit still, sometimes for hours, which isn´t healthy for your body. Which usually means that you don´t get a proper exercise and that will make your body weak and in some cases even fat. There is nothing wrong with a little bit of fat, but if you get too fat then there are more risks attached to that! But also staying inside when it´s sunny outside is considered as unhealthy, eventhough exposure to direct sunlight these days isn´t alwa...

Looking back at.....Super Smash Brothers (N64)

Fighting games usually bring out the worst in me, I prefer not to play them and when I do I usually stick to some easy stuff instead of challenging myself against the most difficult opponents! But Super Smash Brothers on the N64 changed that, because it´s an easy game where you beat the crap out of eachother and yet it´s still pretty friendly. There are no fatalities or whatever type of finishing move, it´s just beating other characters off the screen. Which seems simple but it can be quite difficult against some people. It´s fun that you can play it with multiple players at once on one screen, that means more fun and no small screen bullshit! My favourite character is Link, thanks to the legend of Zelda: the ocarina of time, and I would usually play as this character. But Captain Falcon was also a favourite of mine, Falcon punch! It´s fun to play a game that´s actually not that difficult to play because you don´t need to memorize some ridiculous combo or unbeatable move. In this gam...

Sinful Sunday: Pretend to be someone/something you´re not

It´s easy to lie, especially online when there isn´t really a way of finding out if someone is telling the truth. Maybe lying isn´t easy for everyone but online things become a lot easier, because you´re safe behind your screen and you avoid direct contact which can be intimidating for some people. Sometimes people lie about simple things, about something they like or where they live. But then there are bigger lies where you pretend to like someone or even pretend to be someone you´re not, this can be quite hurtful and deceiving. Why do people lie? I think the whole online thing makes it easier to lie, who could figure out that you´re lying? So that makes it easier to lie and thus more frequent, because if you feel like you can get away with it then why would you stop? But sometimes people are also unhappy with whom they are or what they have, so they make up things to make their life more interesting. This seems harmless but sometimes this can lead to a lot of trouble, for example p...

Delaying Halo 5 is a good thing?

I bet it was rough for a lot of Halo 5 fans to hear that this game will be delayed and will now launch in 2015. Especially when first they said that the game will launch in 2014, I guess some people already had doubts but when the developers say it will launch in 2014 then you have a bit of faith in that. But now the latest news is that the game will launch in 2015, which means a lot of disappointed fans. Which seems quite understandable, but is it really such a bad thing? More time to develop a game means that it will be better? That´s what you would think and I do think that it´s safe to assume that, eventhough it´s not always true. But I do have faith that 343 will make the most of this extra time and make Halo 5 an epic game! Why do they need more time? Well they said that they want to make the game as good as possible for the Xbox One and since this will be the first Halo game for the new console they want to bring the maximum of capabilities to the table, so the game w...

It´s always the same type of games that survive!

If you have to believe opinions of certain people then CoD always makes the same type of games and somehow they keep surviving, while other games that bring new and exciting gameplay disappear. It´s the same when it comes to tv, good series about interesting subjects get cancelled while stupid real life shows seem to keep going on forever! How is this possible? It´s easy to say that the majority of humans is as dumb as it can be, but let´s not forget that when it comes to tv it´s the amount of people that watch these type of shows that decide if it stays on tv Maybe that doesn´t make someone smart but at least they know how it works. So as long as a lot of people watch those shows they´ll keep on existing! It´s the same with games, as much as you might hate games like CoD they´ll keep existing as long as a lot of people buy these games. Of course it´s easy to say that CoD players are dumb and a lot more of that bla bla bla nonsense, but let´s just be honest and agree that the maj...

The Xbox One strikes back!

After months of complaints and to be honest not such smart moves we finally hear something positive from Microsoft when it comes to the Xbox One! They´re going to sell the Xbox One without the Kinect and that will save you a hundred Dollars/Euros (yes the Euro is worth more than the Dollar but somehow they keep the numbers the same). This is great news for everyone that has been waiting for the Xbox One to drop in price and now you don´t have to deal with the Kinect either, this is excellent news! But that´s not all! Now that the Kinect is being pushed aside they´re thinking of boosting the power of the Xbox One so it could possibly become the most powerful console, well up to this point I guess. This is just speculation at this point and to be honest I don´t really care about such things, but it´s nice that the Xbox One is finally making a fist and shows something good instead of bad! So everyone will buy the Xbox One now? Hah I don´t think so! A lot of people that chose the Playsta...

Angry girls!

No this isn´t the latest add on for the game angry birds! I´m talking about angry female gamers that are not as rare as you might think! I think we all have moments that we´re angry, sometimes even over the smallest or most silly things. But that doesn´t take away the fact that you´re angry, sometimes that anger can even go so far that you vent your anger on someone else. That makes sense, so why would it be so weird that girls do this just like guys? As social as girls are in real life, online girls are often not that social in a lobby full of strangers. Of course with friends they´re social, but in a match with strangers you don´t often hear girls. Unless they´re part of a group, but then they´re usually talking in party chat which makes it difficult if not impossible to hear them. But let´s not forget that a lot of people also play with their microphone unplugged, which means that they can be angry but you can´t hear them. I actually do that as well, not that I´m such a good guy b...

Consoles vs Pc

Whenever the console gamers can find a break in the console wars there is always the consoles vs pc war, which is just as stupid as the consoles war. It usually involves a group of loud mouth douchebags with too much time on their hands and wasting it on things like that, I´d say that says probably more than enough about people like that! So the pc is better then? Of course, that´s what people want to hear! I guess in a way that might be true, you can upgrade a pc and use it for many years while consoles usually only last for a couple of years (eventhough the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are still going strong). Because the pc can be upgraded all the time, the games usually look better because developers expect people to constantly upgrade so they can have the best of the best. This is assuming that people want to waste a lot of money on something like that. Consoles are better then? I wouldn´t say that, because consoles are expensive and compared to the pc they don´t last that long....

Looking back at.....Super Mario World!

Now this is a real blast from my past! I don´t even remember when I last played this game on the SNES. It was in a way quite similar to the Super Mario Bros game but this one was also quite different, not just because of the setting in dinosaur land but also because of our favourite green dinosaur Yoshi! I can hardly imagine anyone that played this game and didn´t like Yoshi, this happy and friendly dinosaur is a great help to Mario. This is one of those games that I played for days and even after beating this game I kept playing it for a long time. It´s just so much fun and there is so much to do! Another change in this game was meeting the family of Bowser, which meant a lot of boss fights against his brats. These weren´t difficult fights but sometimes they could fuck you up if you made a mistake. It´s actually a lot of fun to conquer parts of dinosaur land back and feel like you´re doing something good, instead of just going automaticly from one level to another. You already had...

Sinful Sunday: Leeching

Do you know what a leech is? You probably know that, but in the world of games a leech is someone that does as little as possible and still take credit for a victory or succes. Often leeches can be found in situations where they earn a lot of experience or for getting an achievement or trophy. It´s not a suprise that most other players don´t like leeches, but there isn´t a lot you can do to that in a public match... It´s quite frustrating when someone that leeches stays in a match and you can´t do anything against that, but of course you can report that person and then hopefully that person will be kicked out or at least dealt with. It´s even better when the game has a way of dealing with that, where people can vote to kick someone out of the match (of course this should be used as a way of dealing with annoying people and not to bully!) or the game will kick players that are inactive for a certain amount of time. I think more games should have options for that, especially when t...

Game or movie?

Sometimes it feels as if you´re watching a movie, at least when it comes to certain games. It´s not just that some cutscenes are long, it´s also the amount of cutscenes and the depth of those cutscenes that sometimes gives me the idea that I´m watching a movie instead of playing a game. But is that a bad thng? The Metal Gear Solid games are known for the cinematics, especially in the last couple of games you could already fill about four to five hours of cutscenes in the game. Which means that you´ll spend a lot of time watching a cinematic instead of playing the game, which can be annoying to some people but others don´t seem to mind that. I guess it´s ok if you play the game for the first time, but what if you play the game for a second or third time? Then it might be lame if you have to go through all the cutscenes again, which is why you should always be able to skip a cutscene! Because it´s very lame if you have to sit through a cutscene you can´t skip, especially if it´s just a...

Beating a game and then?

It´s not that difficult to beat a game, of course there are some exceptions where a game is difficult to beat, and then you have to decide if you want to continue playing that game or move on to something else. It seems like a simple decision but sometimes it´s difficult when you have a lot of games you want to play but not enough time to play them all! To complete or not to complete? Some gamers want to complete games, which means getting all the achievements/trophies in one game. But for some games that means multiple playthroughs, something that will take quite some time and then you have to consider if it´s worth it. I must admit that I prefer to complete a game or at least finish it, if the remaining achievements are still within my grasp then I don´t mind going for that but I wouldn´t want to go through the same game several times just to get more achievements. Is it still playing for fun or do you call it then playing for achievements/trophies? The same counts for an achie...

Sticking with your old console

Usually I move on to the next console as soon as possible, but I really like my Xbox 360 so I don´t see a reason to rush to the Xbox One. Why would I? There are still plenty of games available for these ´older´ consoles and developers still make new games that are also playable on the ´older´ consoles. So why would you move on to the next generation console when you´re happy with the one you have now? Of course there are also several games that are only available on the new generation of consoles, for example Dead Rising 3 and Ryse (both exclusive for the Xbox One). Maybe you´re not intersted in these games but it´s the start of what´s to come, more and more games will only be released for the new generation of consoles. Which means if you want to keep playing new games then you´ll have to move on to that new console sooner or later! But things are still looking good so far, a lot of popular games are available on the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360. Which means that people that don...

Getting hate for winning a game

It might seem silly but in fact this is how it goes in some multiplayer matches, because somehow some people can´t handle the fact that they´ve lost and then ventilate their anger on the person that won. It´s quite childish to be such a poor sport but to even bother someone with hate messages is just ridiculous! So what drives people to respond in such a way? Often it´s just immature behaviour, people who can´t handle the fact that someone else has beaten them. Other times it´s just frustration, especially if someone constantly wins then it´s not weird for people to dislike someone, you also want to win and if someone stays in a match and wins everything then you´ll probably dislike that person even more. So maybe it´s nice if a winner would switch to another lobby if he or she wins several times in a row, that usually keeps the frustration low and it offers a challenge to the person who constantly wins. Does it really matter who wins? Well to some people it does, it can go so far ...

Invading the game of someone else

No I´m not talking about hacking, eventhough in a way you could consider it as something like that. This is something developers think is interesting for some exciting gameplay. So imagine you playing in the story mode and then out of nowhere someone you don´t know invades your single player adventure and then you´ll have to deal with this invader. Of course this doesn´t have to be a problem, but do we really want something like this? In games like Resident Evil 6 and Dark Souls you already saw these invading options, of course you could turn that off in settings so you don´t have to suffer through this annoying bullshit if you don´t want to. But the real question is, why would you put stuff like this in the game? When I play Resident Evil I don´t want other players to invade my game, I want to enjoy the game and shoot some zombies (or whatever those other things are called in RE 6). Am I the only one that feels that way? I seriously doubt that, because I´ve heard a lot of people ask...

Looking back at.....Bioshock!

When I first heard about Bioshock I wasn´t that interested, I thought it would be just another first person shooter. But the more I learned about this game the more I wanted to give it a try and I did, with no regrets! In Bioshock you find yourself after a crash by a door that leads to an underwater city, ok this probably sounds silly but yes that´s how it goes. At first things seem ok but soon you learn that something went wrong there, the disfigured residents will start to attack you and you have to make it through disturbing areas where chaos is written all over it! At first you have to figh with typical weapons you find in a first person shooter, but Bioshock gives you something else as well! Plasmids are powers you can obtain and that allows you to cause chaos and destruction among your enemies. You can burn them, freeze them, shock them, heal yourself or even teleport. One of the biggest threats you´ll face is the big daddy, this is a protector of a little sister, and he´ll b...

Sinful Sunday: Making deals

No I don´t mean making deals with the devil, I wouldn´t go that far. I´m talking about gamers that make deals before going into a multiplayer match, often trying to get achievements/trophies without actually earning them but just getting them from others if you agree to do the same for the other person. This might seem innocent but when you think there are people who actually earn that and then these people just got it like that then I can´t help but feel injustice. You´ll often find people like this in deathmatch or team deathmatch, unless the achievement/trophy has to be earned in another mode. Maybe you still think that there is no harm in this, but seriously this is a cheap way to get achievements/trophies and most people that actually earned that achievement/trophy will probably not respect anyone that gets it by making deals with other people. If you need to make ten headshots then make ten headshots, if you need people to stand still and look at you to make a headshot then may...

Games make you stronger?

Of course I don´t mean that you get physically stronger, well you do have these games where you have to move around but I doubt that´s going to make you strong. I mean that some games can make you mentally stronger or just build your character. Which might not seem important to some people but this is something that isn´t a bad thing to have! Have you ever played a game that made you want to destroy your controller out of frustration? Well I hope you didn´t and that you actually kept trying until you beat that game. If you did then that means you´ve got quite some willpower or you´re just very stubborn like me. Either way it makes you stronger, instead of giving up and moving on you kept going and that´s a trait that isn´t a bad thing to have. Because in life you´ll encounter several times situations where it´s easy to give up or run away, but what if you stand your ground and face whatever crosses your path? I´m not saying it will always mean something good for you but it helps you ...

The new CoD is Advanced Warfare!

I must admit that I had my doubts when I first learned of the futuristic stuff in Black Ops 2, I enjoyed the classic and modern weapons and I didn´t see a future for this futuristic nonsense. But Black Ops 2 did a good job, it was new and yet still felt familiar. I have a feeling that this is the same with CoD Advanced Warfare which comes out on the 4th of November! The story points towards PMCs (private military companies) and it seems that the strongest military force is the one you can hire, at least that´s what this game seems to be about. Which means that people with bad intentions and a lot of money could hire them to do bad things, in theory of course, and that would be bad for everyone else. But this wouldn´t be a CoD game if there wouldn´t be some deception or betrayal, which means that you might have to face this PMC. Which is probably the one where the character played by Kevin Spacey is the leader and most likely the main antagonist. The soldiers look well equiped in th...

Mass Effect 4 is coming?

Have you played the first three Mass Effect games just like me? Well that´s a good thing because I´ll be talking about those and there will be spoilers, so if you haven´t played any or some of those Mass Effect games you might want to stop reading here! I´ve heard a lot of rumors about Mass Effect 4, after everything that happened in the Mass Effect trilogy it was quite clear that we´re done with Commander Shepard. I think the developers also mentioned that Shepard is gone, so what can we expect from a new Mass Effect game? At first there were rumors of Mass Effect becoming a mmorpg, but that rumor didn´t last long because now it seems we´re getting a new story. If this will be a single player or co-op story is unclear, actually a lot is unclear about this new game. But that doesn´t keep any of the fans from speculating! So if it´s not about Commander Shepard then who? Maybe there is another human that will play a big role in the next game, perhaps one of the companions of Commande...
