YouTube adventures part -34- Make the videos you want to make?

I think most people that start making videos on YouTube make videos they like, because why would you make videos you don't like? Well when people get succes with their channel they're sometimes influenced by viewers and that can lead to making other videos. Maybe they don't hate making these videos but some YouTubers do lose sight on what they once loved to do and end up making videos that don't really make them happy. Making videos you like. I don't think it's a bad thing to please your viewers with some videos they like to see, but you shouldn't lose sight on what makes you happy and make videos that you want to make. So if you really like making videos about a certain game then by all means make those videos, even if not everyone is happy with that you should keep in mind that it's not really about pleasing other people but doing something you like to do. I know that this can be scary for some people that earn money with YouTube, because if you do...

Overwatch ranked mode is bad?

Have you ever played ranked mode in Overwatch? If you have friends that also play the game and want to play ranked mode with you then you're in luck, but if you're just a random douchebag like me then you're in for some rough placement matches! But if that was the only problem then that would be something you could adapt to but unfortunately that's just one of several problems. What's so bad about ranked mode? I'd say matchmaking is one of the worst parts about ranked mode, not only does it take long to find a match (sometimes you spent 5 to 10 minutes in skirmish) but once you get into a match then you often find yourself in a disadvantage as a random player. Because the amount of times when I'm in a team of random players and the other team has a group of four friends (or clan) or a group of five in their team is just beyond ridiculous and it puts you at a huge disadvantage when the team of random players doesn't communicate and also doesn't wo...

Battlefield 1 campaign is like Band of Brothers?

Did you see the campaign trailer for Battlefield 1? It's not your average let's kill them all and shoot on sight while looking like a bad ass type of trailer. It's about emotions, friendship, doubts and the will to go on. This kind of gives me the feeling that Battlefield 1 campaign could be a lot like the Band of Brothers which is a show that follows a group of soldiers in World War II. This is a different type of campaign? Well you still shoot people and you're still in a war but when I look at this campaign trailer I get the idea that the developers want to give you more than just a game where you get to kill a lot of other characters. I actually like this idea and hopefully the campaign is actually going to be what I think it might be which is an adventure but at the same time also that gives you something to think about. War is a terrible thing and shouldn't be celebrated nor should it be a who can kill the most type of thing. But of course it's still a...

Infinity Ward is making another mistake?

Making a futuristic first person shooter when the majority of the players scream for something different is a mistake, but it seems that some people can't help but make multiple mistakes. What am I talking about? Well I'm talking about the multiplayer beta for CoD Infinite Warfare. Not only is the beta only for people who pre-ordered the game, the second half of the beta (for Xbox One players it's the only time they can play the beta) is when Battlefield 1 launches. I don't know about you but I'm not going to pre-order a game I'm not that excited about to be able to play a beta that is available when a game launches I am excited about. Why isn't it an open beta? Battlefield 1 made a smart move, the beta was available for everyone and you didn't need to pre-order the game or anything like that. They also did their beta when no other games came out that people would rather play at that moment. But not Infinity Ward, no they make their beta only for peo...

Movie Monday: Independence Day: Resurgence

Did you expect a sequel after seeing the movie Independence Day? Well I didn't, but then out of nowhere Indepdence Day: Resurgence shows up. Which is actually a pleasant surprise because several actors from the first movie are also in this sequel, so it doesn't feel like a forced sequel that just uses the title and has very little to do with the first movie. They're back? It's not just the aliens but also some of the stars of the first movie are present in Independence Day: Resurgence. I think everyone likes Jeff Goldblum so it's good to see him again and also Bill Pullman is back as the former president that kicked ass in the first movie. A big surprise for me was seeing Brent Spiner return because I thought his character died in the first movie but apparently the character survived and so he's back as well! But the aliens are also back and that means that humanity has to kick ass again to make certain the aliens don't finish what they started in the fi...

Sinful Sunday: Angry generation?

For a long time I thought I was one of the few people out there that was just angry, when I play a game I get upset easily and when things go wrong in offline I also get mad at the slightest things. Being killed by the same guy in a game ten times in a row is enough to get pissed, especially if it's bullshit half of the time (you get shot in the back, he/she constantly gets a headshot on you or uses the same move to beat you in a fighting game). But also moments when your computer doesn't seem to work proper is enough to piss me off and I seem to have very little patience for that. I thought for a long time that it was just me, but apparently I'm not... A lot of people get angry for no real reason at all? It sometimes looks that way, just looking at someone that plays a game and everything is fine and then suddenly out of nowhere this person is mad. You might ask yourself, what happened? It's easy to think that some people are bad losers and sometimes you might be r...

Why are controllers so expensive?

This is a serious question because I've spent a small fortune on controllers in the last two decades on controllers, because they're not just expensive they're also quite fragile! Since you can't play games without a controller, at least with most console games, this is something that can really screw people over. Because you often just get one controller with your console so if you want to have another one so your friend can play a game with you on the couch then you already have to pay a lot of money for a controller which is ridiculous! I love/hate controllers? I'm not going to lie to you, I prefer using controllers over everything else when it comes to playing games. A controller is easy to use and is more comfortable to handle, leaning on my keyboard is good for typing but with gaming it just makes it uncomfortable to hold my hands in certain positions on the keyboard. I guess we all have our favourite way of playing games but I think a lot of people will a...

YouTube adventures part -33- Depending on YouTube?

It's weird in a way when you think about it but YouTube provides a lot of jobs to people. Maybe you've never thought about it but there are a lot of people who earn money with their YouTube videos and the moment YouTube would disappear or wouldn't be working (for example hackers make it impossible to get on the site) then these people have a huge problem. Which kind of makes you wonder... How much are you depending on YouTube? I don't earn money with YouTube videos, which makes sense because my videos aren't that amazing and most of them are of low quality. This is something I'm fine with because it's just something I do for fun. If I truly wanted to earn money with YouTube I would have to first improve my videos and get a lot more viewers to actually make that work. But for now I'm fine with how things are. Yesterday I couldn't get on YouTube and the same happened Wednesday afternoon and evening. Which made it difficult to post a video, now fo...

Playing certain games hurts your eyes?

Have you ever played a game that made your eyes hurt? It pretty much started for me with Destiny, after a day I already noticed that my eyes were hurting and later I saw blood appear in my eyes. Which meant I had to take a break, wether I like it or not but if I would continue with the game as if nothing happened I think I would've seriously risked hurting my eyes. What makes certain games hurt your eyes? From what I learned and experienced it's usually first person shooters that cause this problem. Why first person shooters? It's usually because you're focused on the screen and hardly blink while playing, which causes a lot of stress and tension for your eyes and they start to hurt. The moment you feel this pain it's a good sign to take a break or quit playing that game, switch to a game that is more relaxing so your eyes can heal. This doesn't mean you can't play first person shooters, for example when I play Overwatch I have no issues at all, but some...

Giving games a (second) chance

I played Borderlands and I didn't like the game, what's worse is that I think the game is boring and I eventually stopped playing because I couldn't find the motivation to keep on playing. That's pretty bad, because getting stuck in a game might be a good reason why you stop playing a game but when you lack the motivation because a game is just so boring then what makes you ever interested in playing that game again? Games deserve a (second) chance? I can be pretty harsh when it comes to games, when I don't like a game then I make no secret of it and when something bothers me in a game then I'll be certain to mention that! But sometimes there are games I haven't even played and then it's pretty dumb to talk shit about those games. Which is why I usually don't do that, but I do avoid games I have a bad feeling about. Because of that feeling I never played Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: the pre-sequel. Because I had such a bad time in Borderlands I ...

Rage quitting is normal?

It doesn't really matter what type of competitive online multiplayer game you play, it seems that rage quitters are everywhere and it also happens a lot. This is something that makes me wonder what happened to gamers over the years that we went from just having fun to the taking things so serious type of way to play. Rage quitters are losers? Well you're not wrong actually, rage quitters are usually people that are losing a lot or are about to lose and then decide to leave the game because they can't handle the you've been defeated text on the screen. I don't think people were ever happy with losing but I don't remember this being such a big things a decade ago, I mean when you play a game there's always a good chance that you lose. There's a 50% chance that you lose, so that's pretty big and that makes it quite acceptable that sometimes you just lose a game. I doubt many people will leave a game when they're winning unless they get killed a ...

Movie Monday: Fury

Do you like war movies? I pretty much grew up with them because my father loves war movies, so it was impossible to escape that. Eventhough I'm not really into war movies I do like some of them and Fury is one of those movies that is really good. It's not really a movie about one guy that saves everyone, it's about a group of soldiers in one tank that have to work together to survive. It seems simple but it's actually pretty good if you compare this movie to a lot of other movies that try to do the same thing but then in a different type of movie. War is hell? I doubt that there are many war movies that make war look like a fantastic thing, well maybe some see that in certain war movies but most war movies are trying to show you the horrible truth of war and that is that it's horrible! Fury also shows you this but not as extreme as the movie Saving private Ryan, but that doesn't mean it's going to be a clean ride. After spending some time with the soldie...

Sinful Sunday: Fighting through frustration

Whenever I play a game and I'm frustrated with the game then it's always a struggle for me to motivate myself to keep playing it. Because games are meant to be fun, so the moment they become frustrating I want to stop playing because that's not something I like. But it's worth it, at least sometimes, to fight through the frustration because a lot of games get better and that makes it worth it. Unfortunately some games get worse or just stay frustrating and then you can just be glad you finished it and you probably never play that game again. Frustrating games aren't worth playing? You might be surprised by the amount of good games that have frustrating moments in them, which can be just a very small portion of the game but enough to make people want to quit and never play the game again. It's really up to you to decide if you want to keep playing the game or if you're going to give up. If you're looking for advice then I can tell you that it's of...

Nobody buys CoD Infinite Warfare?

Ever since the first trailer for Infinite Warfare the hate train has been full of people who can't stop talking shit about the game. But the more trailers that come out and the more you actually learn about the game the more interesting it becomes, even the haters will have to admit that because the game just looks pretty good. Ok maybe it's not what they expected but does that automaticly make it bad? I don't think so! The campaign actually looks good? We all know how people feel about the multiplayer but what about the campaign? I saw the trailer with the villain (played by Kit Harrington who you probably know better as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones) and it looks pretty good! Of course a trailer can have that effect and it can turn out to be less impressive but let's be honest and just give the game a chance before you jump on the hate train. The trailer showed some intense moments between soldiers and your character that suddenly is the acting captain on the space ...

YouTube adventures part -32- Dislikes for no reason at all

No matter how funny, helpful or interesting your video is there will always be peopel that dislike it. That is at least if people are bothered to click on your video in the first place. Why do some people dislike videos? You'd be surprised that a lot of times people dislike a video just because they feel like it or because they can dislike it. I guess I don't have to explain that some people are just sad sacks of shit but hey there you have it, people aren't always nice and yes some of them will just... Dislike your video for no reason at all. I personally don't care that much about likes and dislikes, because I know my videos aren't good and if people really feel the need to dislike that then that says more about them than about me. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate likes, but I would never ask for likes because I find that distasteful. Besides if people really like your video then they will like it, at least that makes sense to me because that's...

Assassin's Creed the Ezio collection

With all the last gen console games coming to the current gen console you probably saw this coming, the Ezio trilogy is coming to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Which is good news for the fans and a great opportunity for those who have never played these games! A lot of Asssassin's Creed fans consider the Ezio games as the best in the series. Wether you're new to the series or if you already played these games before, you probably don't want to miss out on this deal! Is the Ezio trilogy really the best in the series? A lot of people seem to like it and I agree that the Ezio games are very good, I don't consider them myself as the best in the series but they're definitely worth checking out if that's what you're wondering! What makes the Ezio trilogy so good is that you start from his early years and see him grow up into an experienced master. These games gives you a unique look into the life of an assassin and not just a moment in his life. Because you ...

Buying older games instead of new games

Have you ever had moments that you just feel that there aren't any games coming out you're interested in and you decide to buy older games? I'm not saying that there aren't any fun games coming out right now but it's nice to check out some older games that often have good prices and are still a lot of fun to play. Old vs new, what's better? It's easy to say that new games are better but I know from my own experiences that this isn't always true. Sometimes old games are just better, even if the graphics aren't that impressive with some of the new games and perhaps the controls are a bit old fashioned but that doesn't make it bad games! I know from experience that some games are actually pretty good eventhough they're from several years ago, some of those games I consider better than the game you see today. Not just because I had more fun with the older games but also the story, the characters and the gameplay was just way more interesting ...

ReCore, platform shooter FTW?

When I first saw ReCore I was interested, it really looks good and offers something different in the line up of so many other types of games. Especially on the Xbox One there aren't a lot of platform games, if you mix third person shooter with that you get a pretty awesome game. But how good is ReCore really? Shoot and jump? That would be way too simple to describe the game, because the game offers some good challenges in the form of enemies that require good team work with the right robotic ally and ammunation while you also have platforming challenges that will test your reflexes and timing. Which is fun for some and can be extremely frustrating for others. You should keep in mind that the controls for ReCore are pretty sweet so you don't have to struggle with platforming, once you get used to your double jumps and glides you should be more than ready to deal with some platform challenges. The fighting in ReCore is pretty fun as well, but can be challenging at certain poi...

Movie Monday: Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (ultimate edition)

Do you like super hero movies? I like a lot of super hero movies, so I must admit that I was really excited about Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. But movies can't always give you what you hope for and I think that Batman vs Superman is a good example of that. The movie was announced with a lot of noise and the trailers look good. Somehow a lot of people didn't like the movie, so what went wrong? Too many spoilers? I hate spoilers, it's one of the worst things that can happen if you look forward to seeing a movie. Why? Because it completely ruins the movie for you when you already know what will happen, a sudden twist is then already known and that makes the movie less enjoyable. The problem with the Batman vs Superman trailers is that there are too many spoilers in them, they showed you too much and at the same time gave you the idea that the fight between Batman and Superman was an epic battle while it hardly lasted ten minutes in a movie that is longer than three...

Sinful Sunday: Playing games is frustrating?

If you've played games then you know that playing games can be a lot of fun, unfortunately it's not always that much fun and sometimes it's even frustrating. At that point it's probably better to take a break, but being stubborn usually means you keep trying until you succeed which leads to a lot of frustration if it takes a lot of time to succeed. But developers never mention this when they promote their game, you just get to see the cool parts of a game but the nasty levels or parts of the games are usually hidden until you discover them and you're in for a lot of frustration! Why are games frustrating? That's not that difficult to explain, it mostly comes down to things not going your way. For example in a fighting game when you're unable to beat an opponent, the same can be said about racing games where you can't win the race or a sport game where you can't win the match. It's frustration and there isn't much you can do about that, be...

How far would you go for an unlockable in a game?

A lot of games have unlockables, something you unlock if you do certain things in a game. It can be as simple as picking up a certain object or doing a certain move and it can be as frustrating as collecting a lot of collectibles or finishing a game on the hardest difficulty. At that point you have to ask yourself, is it worth it? Some people would say that it's worth it and others say it's not worth it, because an unlockable is usually just a bonus costume, weapon or other items to spice up the game a bit but hardly ever gives you something that makes it worth it all the trouble. Games shouldn't have unlockables? That's something a lot of people would like to see, that you get all the bonus items already from the start. That cool looking alternate costume? You get it from the start! Now that would make a lot of people happy, but I bet the developers would fear that if there are no unlockables then what will motivate people to keep playing their game once they'v...

YouTube adventures part -31- Making a difference

Sometimes I feel like my videos only reach a few people which is fine with me, I didn't start a channel for fame and/or money. But it's nice when you can reach more people. The trick is to make videos that people find interesting or that are helpful. This way you can make a difference and stick out in the ocean of videos that is YouTube. So in a way it's about... Making a difference. I love making gameplay videos, I record single player gameplay (which is sometimes a lot of work) or multiplayer matches and post those on YouTube. But I don't really stick out with those because a lot of other people do that as well and probably have much better quality videos than me. So then you have to ask yourself, what is something that would get my videos noticed more? It's making a video that other people haven't made (yet). Sunday I played Fallout 4 and I finally found one of the rare ingredients I needed to complete the Nuka Bombdrop recipe, it's rum and surprisi...

Never playing a game again?

When you first play a game and you really enjoy playing that game then you can't imagine that there will be a day that you won't ever play that game again. This happens to me a lot, because when you first play a fun game it seems like you'll always have time to play that game. But with new games coming out and eventually new consoles it's easy to forget about a game or just stop playing that game because you rather play new games on your new console. But does that mean you never play the game again? Perhaps... Never say never? When I sold my N64 and all my games with it I knew I would regret that eventually, mostly games like the legend of Zelda: the ocarina of time and Goldeneye 64. I didn't think I would ever play these games again but eventually I actually did play those games again. Ok Goldeneye was a remake on the Xbox 360 so it wasn't exactly the same but it was still nice to at least get a bit of a feeling of the game again. But the legend of Zelda: t...

Games that can't live up to the hype

I think we've all had moments we were super excited about a game, because this game looks amazing and the trailers make it look like it's the best game you've ever seen. But then when you can finally play the game things are suddenly not that amazing, in the worst case scenario it's an abslutely turd of a game and you can't believe you just wasted money on that game. The hype around a game can sometimes make you do dumb things and make you excited for game that are actually not that amazing, but somehow a lot of people fall for it almost every time... Games need hype? Just a bit of hype seems fine with me, but the problem is that games usually come with a lot of hype and if that's not enough then some fans will increase the hype even more. It's interesting to see how some people talk in the early trailers about how amazing a game is and then when the game launches you see completely different comments, then the game is crap or just not worth your time. I...

Multiplayer games make you miserable?

After spending several weeks in multiplayer games I decided to play a single player game, at first I didn't really notice a difference and then suddenly I actually enjoyed playing the game. I had fun doing just random things, while in the multiplayer games I would get upset over little things and just have a bad time in the majority of multiplayer matches. Does that mean that multiplayer games makes me bitter or does that just mean I prefer playing single player games? Multiplayer games make you feel worse? Let me say it a bit different, multiplayer games can make you feel like shit when things go wrong. The same counts for single player games, but the good thing about single player games is that it's just you. If you fail it's your fault, unless the game screws you over, and there's not more to it than that. But in multiplayer there could be a lot of reasons why things go badly. Having team mates that suck, people that don't communicate or want to work together...

Movie Monday: Suicide Squad

Instead of just talking about games I'm also throwing in some movie stuff in this blog. Let me start with the movie Suicide Squad, a movie that a lot of people were excited about and then when it finally came out a lot of people jumped on the hate train again. What is it with DC comics movies? Do people just like to hate DC comics movies? Maybe some Marvel fan boys and girls being assholes to everyone else? I think I've heard it all and I doubt it will ever lead to an answer that will truly explain it all. Suicide Squad is a bad movie? Absolutely not! I enjoyed watching it and I think a lot of other people also liked it. I think the problem with Suicide Squad is that people had expectations and when a movie turns out to be different then it's not that strange to feel disappointed, I think it's only natural to be disappointed when something you're looking forward to turns out to be different then you would expect it to be. For example the villain in Suicide Squad...

Sinful Sunday: It's easy to hate

These days I just have to watch certain videos on YouTube and I find a lot of hate, people who leave certain comments with the intention to be assholes or just be a sheep like the majority and jump on the hate train. It's easy to hate, it's so damn easy to hate! But instead of using your brain and actually think for yourself and not follow the majority, now that takes some effort and apparently some people are allergic to that! Why do people hate? Because it's easy? I guess there could be many reasons why but when it comes to certain games or movies it usually means people just agree with the majority or because a certain douchebag says something sucks and others follow his or her opinion like sheep. Scientists say that people are related to apes, well I think some people are related to sheep because the behaviour of some people is just ridiculous! Oh look this YouTuber says that the game or movie sucks, well he's probably right so let's agree. I find this reall...

CoD Infinite Warfare multiplayer is just like Black Ops 3 multiplayer?

After seeing the multiplayer trailer for CoD Infinite Warfare I couldn't help but recognize some Black Ops 3 elements, especially when I saw some multiplayer gameplay videos. Sure the actions looks fast and even fun in my opinion, but isn't it a lot like Black Ops 3? I might be mistaken and perhaps they're completely different games but I can't help but see similarities. Infinite Warfare is just like Black Ops 3? I wouldn't say it's just like Black Ops 3, mostly because Infinite Warfare takes place in space and on other planets while Black Ops 3 takes place in the future but you're still on Earth. Also multiplayer is a bit different, now you don't have specialists but combat rigs that give a different playstyle. For example you can be Warfighter (a mid range assault who has a weapon that instantly kills enemies), Stryker (tactical support class with a weapon that can fire blackholes or something like that), Phantom (a marksman that can be invisible f...

Battlefield 1 beta, bigger is better?

I'm not going to lie, I never played a Battlefield game before and I previous would always play CoD games. Why? Because I prefer smaller maps and I'm not a big fan of vehicles on the battlefield because there are always douchebags that pretty much play most of the game in a vehicle and they can be a bitch to kill when they're in an armored vehicle. But with the new CoD game looking less interesting and Battlefield taking you to World War I it's just too difficult to resist the temptation of playing this game and I must admit it's a lot of fun! Big open battles are better than the small skirmishes on CoD multiplayer maps? If I have to be honest then I prefer the smaller maps, which means I don't have to run around for a couple of minutes to find an enemy and not get shot by a sniper from a mile away and then have to start all over. But there are vehicles and there is also cover, play smart and you might actually get things done in Battlefield. If you play lik...

Games shouldn't have multiple endings?

Whenever I play a game that takes about 80 hours to finish then it kind of sucks when you have to choose your ending or when all the choices you made in those 80 hours lead towards an ending. Why does it suck? Because you spend so much time on the game and pretty much want a good ending, you can get that but what if you get a bad ending or if you wonder what the other ending is? Oh you have to play again for 80 hours to find out what happens in that ending? Multiple endings keep a game alive? I guess that makes sense, because once you finished a game (especially one that took you quite some time to finish) then you're probably done with that game for quite some time. But if you have multiple endings then it's tempting to play the game again and see what happens in that ending, it's just annoying if you have to put a lot of hours into the game to get that ending. Especailly with achievements/trophies you sometimes have to do a lot of playthroughs, just look at Fallout 4 ...
