Youtube adventures part 22

There are a lot of different videos on youtube, most of them are of decent quality and I think most people watching videos on youtube expect good quality videos. Some demand the best of the best or will give a dislike, for some youtubers this is just not always possible. Because not everyone has a capture card and their recording is sometimes done with a simple camera, that doesn't make it necessarily a bad quality video but I can imagine that not everyone will like videos of a lower quality. But the question is...

Does video quality matter?

A simple answer is yes, because if the video looks like crap then who would want to watch that? But you should realize that just because the video doesn't look as pretty as other videos that this means that it's automaticly a bad video. I've seen good videos, funny videos and even helpful videos (achievement/trophy guides) recorded with a simple camera and  the quality wasn't really great, but the content is good and I think that's what really matters!

Of course your video will be judged harshly if it's of lower quality than expected, don't expect people to understand or be bothered to check out your video if the first five to ten seconds doesn't interest them. So if you make lower quality videos then you should be prepared for negative comments and less people interested in those videos. But maybe some people like your videos enough to watch them anyway, I guess sometimes all you need is a chance and that can make all the difference on youtube.

Since 2013 I've been making videos and most of them are of low quality, usually because of my camera that doesn't go well with my tv. There's a bit static, especially with my old tv, and the colours also sometimes make things look worse on the recording while on my tv it all looks normal. I guess that also says something about the quality of my camera but at least it works out for me because I can make videos and I have fun making those videos. Isn't that the most important thing about making videos and putting them on youtube?

If you make lower quality videos then it will be harder to get viewers, but it's not completely impossible. But I think it's smart to stay realistic and not expect to make a living with low quality videos, so if you want to be a professional youtuber then that means you have to invest. Wether it's a good capture card for game recordings or a high quality camera for other recordings. Maybe you can make good videos without all that and have succes, but I think the chance on that is pretty small and even if you have all the right equipment it's still a struggle sometimes to get viewers and succes with your videos. So make certain that you have fun doing what you're doing, that's really the most important part of your videos!
