Mass Effect Andromeda. The good, the bad and the ugly!
In the latest trailer of Mass Effect Andromeda we finally see some more of the game, not something that really screams out what we'll get but at least you can get an impression of the game. For example you see some of the characters, the ship, monsters and new worlds you can discover. So I think that should make you want to see more of the game and probably makes you wish you already have the game!
The good.
The graphics look amazing, not just the characters but also the worlds with weather effects. This gives you the idea that you're in a world that is alive and it makes you alive in that world. The character expressions are quite detailed and it should really make you feel more for the characters. Because when someone is surprised you can see it, if someone is happy then it's quite easily spotted on a face and fear is also an expression you can notice. One of the characters says something in the trailer and I think that this is the female version of the main character, if that's true then she looks good and it really makes me curious how the standard version of the male version of the main character is going to look.
The bad.
Is there anything bad about this game? Well as far as I can see there's not that much, but the trailer didn't reveal all. Something I'm not happy about it the return of the Mako, you know that land vehicle you used in the first Mass Effect game to drive around on the surface. I've heard promises about it being much more fun to drive around this time but I can't help but get a bad feeling of this. For example to start a mission you need to find something on the surface and you end up driving around for an hour or so to find it, maybe you would like that but I definitely won't like that! It's still unclear what role the Mako exactly plays, but I hope it's quite small and mostly optional stuff.
The ugly.
Did you see the face of that Asari in the trailer, now that's ugly! Ok that's mean. In fact I like that not everyone looks like a model, I mean everyone could look like Miranda from Mass Effect 2 and 3 but that wouldn't be very realistic. But some of the monsters absolutely look hideous and that makes things a bit more tense when you fight them, I mean if you have to die you hope it's to a beautiful woman and that she just stunned you with her beauty. You don't want to get eaten alive by some ugly creature on a strange planet! But there are definitely new creatures and species to discover, they might not all be pretty but it would be interesting what you can all discover. Maybe some new species might actually join your crew!
Should you be excited about this game?
Is that a serious question? Ok if you don't like the Mass Effect games then I understand why you wouldn't be interested, but I think everyone that does like the Mass Effect games have been waiting for this game for quite some time! It the next generation Mass Effect game that will make everything look better and hopefully will be just as much fun to play or maybe even more fun to play! You get a new ship, the Tempest, and a crew that exists out of species you already know (Asari, Turians, Krogan and Salarian) and maybe some new members join when you discover new species. I think this isn't just a game, I think it's your own personal exporation into the unknown and let your inner explorer find what you've been looking for. Maybe you get some answers, but it might be that you get a lot more questions instead! Mass Effect Andromeda looks like a dream right now and I can't wait for that dream to become reality once it launches and I can play it!
