Sinful Sunday: Spoilers!
The most hated people online aren't the trolls, maybe not even people that try to act tough and pretend to be someone they're not. No the most hated people are the ones that spoil things for others, which means that anyone that hasn't seen a popular movie or played a popular game should be careful because some people just love to spoil things!
Why do people spoil things for others?
This might come as a surprise but some people don't even realize that, I guess they just really want to talk about something they saw and don't Always realize that other people might not have seen that. I don't think everyone cares that much about spoilers but for some people it can ruin everything. For example there's a movie and someone dies in that movie, if someone spoils that for you then that movie is ruined for you. The same counts for games, if you know that something will happen then it takes away fun out of the game. Because part of the fun of playing a game is not knowing what will happen next. At least that's how I see it. Some people think it's funny to ruin the fun for others, an easy way to do that is to spoil things by leaving comments under certain popular videos. Sometimes the comment has absolutely nothing to do with the video but it won't stop some people spoiling things. Which means you have another good reason to ignore the comments, because some people like spoiling things in the comments and just for their own amusement.
How do you avoid spoilers?
Not reading the comments under a youtube video is a good start, but it pretty much means avoiding social media in general. Because spoilers can pop up anywhere, especially if people can leave some type of message because that means there's room for spoilers! I'm not saying that you should live in a cave and ignore the rest of the world, but you might want to avoid certain parts of the internet and stay away from people that can't shut up about the latest movies and/or games. Of course you can try to see these movies and play these games as fast as possible, but that's not your only option. It's just a bit exhausting when you constantly need to be on guard to avoid people that can spoil things, I guess at that point it's probably a good idea to watch that movie or play that game as soon as possible. If for some reason you can't watch that movie or play that game just yet then I suggest avoiding certain places on the internet and let people know that they shouldn't spoil things for you. If these people are good friends then they respect that, if they're assholes then they will spoil things. Either way you know exactly what type of friends you have. It might be difficult to completely avoid spoilers, but it's not impossible! The trick is to know where you can expect spoilers and avoid that as much as possible.
