Resident Evil 7 is Silent Hills?
After seeing the Resident Evil 7 trailer and playing the demo you can't help but get a strong Silent Hills feeling, not just because you're playing in first person mode but also the environment and the feeling you get while playing it. Is that a good thing? Well I think it is, eventhough I don't see how this has anything to do with Resident Evil and the previous games in the series.
Resident Evil has reinvented itself?
For several years fans have been complaining that Resident Evil games don't feel like survival horror games anymore. So these people should be happy that Resident Evil 7 grabs you by the balls and takes you back into survival horror, but at what cost? In the playable teaser (the demo is now playable on your Playstation 4) you play as some guy who goes into a house with some other guys, people disappear and things go horribly wrong. This seems like a standard horror scenario but what does this have to do with Resident Evil? Apparently a lot because the playable teaser gives you an idea what the new Resident Evil game will give you, how you play it and what you can expect.
The playable teaser isn't part of the full game?
Nope, the playable teaser is just something made to get you familiar with the controls and how you play this new Resident Evil game. Which means more hiding and sneaking around and less running and gunning. I know that some people will hate that, but others will love it. I guess you can't make everyone happy. I do hope that you can use weapons because being completely defenseless feels so weird in a Resident Evil game, less ammo and just a few weapons is fine but absolutely no weapons seems odd. It's also still a mystery to me who is the main character in Resident Evil 7, is it going to be Leon (he did get the zombies path in Resident Evil 6 and they tried to go for a scary approach in the first chapter of his story) or will there be another character standing up for this game? I wouldn't mind seeing Chris and Jill in this game but then again Chris does kind of comes with kick ass action so maybe that means he won't be a playable character in this game.
Is Resident Evil 7 worth checking out?
I'd say check out the playable teaser, then you should be able to decide for yourself! If you don't have a Playstation 4 then you can always check on youtube for some videos where people show you the playable teaser. I think Resident Evil 7 is on a new path and it looks interesting, definitely more scary than before and hopefully that will be a new trend for future Resident Evil games. I do hope there is still room for some action, because if you just want to crap your pants then there are always Silent Hill games that used to be much better at that than Resident Evil games. But maybe times change and now Resident Evil can make us terrified, I don't know about you but I'm interested!
