Sinful Sunday: No more new games?
Have you noticed that a lot of games that have been released in the last couple of years are actually new versions of old games, which kind of makes me worried about the future because if this keeps going we just play the same games over and over again with just a graphic update. To be honest I don´t mind it that much, but it´s also nice that there are new games and new things to discover. So I certainly hope that developers will invest their time in making new games and not so much in bringing old games back.
What´s wrong with bringing back an old game?
Not that much, especially if it´s a game that you really like. For example Resident Evil is a good game and I like having that game now on my Xbox One, but that doesn´t mean I want every Resident Evil game with a graphic update. I´d like to see new Resident Evil games and if possible something else completely. A game like D4 (Dark Dreams Don´t Die) is a lot of fun and something else, it´s great that games like that exist and give gamers something else to play. Because even if a certain genre is a lot of fun it´s good to switch it up a bit. This keeps gaming interesting and keeps you from falling into a hole of repetitive games and actions.
Too much of something is a bad thing?
Absolutely! Bring back ten games is good, a hundred is just too much! Sure it can be a good way for developers to make some money so they can finance working on new games, but sometimes it just feels like developers are getting lazy and just bring out the same type of games to score some easy money. Let´s be honest, I think a lot of gamers have bought games that got a graphic update or maybe some other features. So it´s not that people aren´t interested, but it´s more about trying to surprise and keep your fans entertained. Which sometimes means taking a risk.
So it´s possible that we´re not going to see a lot of new games?
It´s possible, maybe not in the near future but there might come a time that games that are new now will get a graphic update in the future and then released again. Developers have been doing that for quite some time and that´s not bad, but the problem is when it happens a lot and more developers start doing that. I don´t speak for everyone that plays games but I think a lot of gamers want new experiences, new adventures and to keep it simple just new games!
