Sinful Sunday: Losing my interest in gaming

Is it really a sin to stop caring about something that used to mean a lot to you? Maybe it´s not a sin for everyone but gamers might consider it as a sin. I´m not talking about the whole true gamer bullshit, it´s more like walking away from something that used to mean so much to you. It feels like betrayal and yet it´s also liberating to admit that things have changed.

Too old for gaming?

I thought about that, maybe I´m just getting too old for playing games but to be honest I doubt that´s the case. I´ve been playing games for more than twenty years and that´s cool with me, I mean as long as I´m having fun I don´t see a reason to stop. Age doesn´t have to mean anything with gaming, it´s about you having a good time doing what you like to do!

Things get repetitive?

It´s weird that I didn´t notice this any sooner but I´m getting the feeling I´m playing the same games over and over again. Perhaps I´m now starting to notice this more because I´m almost literally playing the exact game I played before. First it was Saints Row IV, then Resident Evil and I almost bought GTA V again. I´m not even talking about games that look like games I played before, these are games I played before! State of Decay will also be back for the Xbox One and that´s another game that I played before, which now makes me wonder if I should buy that game. I guess I´m just getting tired of playing the same shit, I want new things and yet we get a lot of recycled games. That just doesn´t seem right...

Taking a break?

This isn´t the first time though that I´ve felt this way, usually I take a break from gaming and do something else. This break can last for a couple of months and usually after that I feel more motivated to play games again, of course not in a non stop way but in a more casual way. Perhaps that´s what I need and maybe you could use that as well, a break from gaming every now and then to keep things fresh. If you do the same shit every day it gets old real fast, so by changing things up a bit you keep things interesting and hopefully you will benefit from that. But you don´t have to take my word for it, you probably know what´s best for you and if you feel comfortable playing games every day then feel free to do that. Just remember that too much of something can be a bad thing.
