No more rage quitting in Mortal Kombat X?
I think we all have had a moment where we would rage quit a game and that´s ok if you´re playing a single player game, but when you play a multiplayer game it´s a douchebag move! In some games it means you abandon the game making it harder for the team to win, but there are also games where it means that it´s impossible to win and it results in failure for the rest of the team. So how do you take care of these type of people? You humiliate them and show them that they suck! At least that´s the tactic that´s being used in Mortal Kombat X.
Is rage quitting really that bad?
It´s not bad if you play a single player game, because the only person you affect with that is yourself. But when you play with other people it affects everyone, sure in competitive multiplayer it means one team has to fight with one person less on their team and that can make it easier for the other team. Sometimes that´s even better, because when you get rid of a bad player there´s a chance that a better player can take his or her place. Unfortunately that doesn´t happen often. In cooperative multiplayer rage quitting is the worst, because that usually makes it a lot harder for the team to win and sometimes it´s even impossible to win. I´m glad that there is now a game that does something about it, hopefully this will keep players from rage quitting.
What exactly happens in Mortal Kombat X?
If you rage quit your character will automaticly lose but first you see how the head of your character explodes, which is humiliating if you´re really into fighting games. This is called a quitality! You also see this word appear on the screen so both players know what´s going on, if you really want to step it up you could record the match and then post it on youtube so everyone can see that this person is a rage quitter.
Will it be effective?
I don´t think so, I mean if I´m being completely honest with you. Why? Because people usually don´t rage quit when they´re thinking clearly, they´re just so pissed off that they leave the game almost on instinct. You don´t think about what you´re doing, you´re just doing it almost automaticly. It might work against people that use the rage quit tactic to keep their precious win streak alive or something like that, but hopefully this will have more effect and keep people from rage quitting. If you can´t handle losing a game then you shouldn´t play games!
