You know you´re a scholar when...

Let me first say that this doesn´t mean you´re a book addict, this blog is about games and not books! What I mean with a scholar in the world of games is someone that reads a lot of background stories or conversations. In a way you´re curious about what´s going on the world you play, not just shooting or slashing. Of course not every games gives you this option to read all about it, but there are several games that have enough information to keep you busy for quite some time.

How do you recognize a scholar?

* A scholar will most likely play more single player than multiplayer games.

* Most scholars don´t rush through games, so they´re often late with playing new games.

* If someone can tell you a lot of background information about a game he or she is probably a scholar!

* It´s not a suprise that scholars enjoy playing as the mage class, but it´s not always a guarantee!

Things you might not know about scholars:

- A scholar isn´t a boring guy who has no friends, sometimes they´re just people that want to know more about a game.

- Sometimes a scholar will add his or her own ideas or thoughts to the game lore.

- I think it´s safe to say that a scholar probably enjoys reading.

- A true scholar will read through everything, not just the interesting parts!

It might seem like it´s boring to be a scholar but often they discover more about a game than other people, for example why certain character respond in a certain way or why something happened in the first place. If you just rush through a game and don´t bother reading background stories, skip conversations or cutscenes and just want to get to the end of the game as soon as possible then you´ll probably won´t understand why a scholar doesn´t do that. I must admit that sometimes I don´t feel like reading everything, especially in a game that has a lot of things to read, I mean I don´t mind diving into some background stories but I don´t want to spend hours on reading while I could be playing the game! So I guess it´s safe to say that not everyone is a scholar and probably only a select few truly reads everything there is to read about a game, both inside a game and in books that have been written to add some extra information to the story. I think Halo is a good example of that, where there are several books written which gives you a lot more information about the Halo games and the whole history of everyone in that game. It´s not for everyone but I bet those that read things like that will probably enjoy that!
