Beating a boss is a thrill!
For me it´s always a thrill to beat a boss that´s so much bigger and stronger than you, but even with those benefits you still manage to beat him (or her). I think I found one of those big bosses first in Zelda games, this time it wasn´t about just hacking and slashing but learning the movement of the boss and strike when you have the opportunity. It seems simple but sometimes these bosses can keep you busy for quite some time, especially if you can´t figure out how to beat him (or her).
The bigger they are, the harder they fall? I guess that makes sense, usually a boss that is big is also more difficult to kill. Especially when the weak spot is in a spot where you have to climb and that the road to get there isn´t that easy, I think anyone who has played Shadow of the Colussus knows what I´m talking about! But don´t be suprised if a boss goes down easy, some might look intimidating but that doesn´t have to mean a thing! The same can be said about a small boss, because eventhough they don´t look intimidating they can fuck you up if you´re not careful. Size isn´t everything!
I think a lot of gamers enjoy winning, that feeling of accomplishing something and getting past a difficult obstacle. If it´s an obstacle that doesn´t fight back then it´s maybe not that impressive, but when the obstacle is a huge boss that does everything in his (or her) power to stop you then I´d say it´s quite an accomplishment to beat him (or her)! Right now I´m still in a very positive mood for beating the Kraken in CoD Ghosts Devastation dlc Extinction ep 2 Mayday. Beating a creature that is so much bigger and stronger is a good feeling, especially when you do it solo without any help of others. Because if others take the glory then it feels a bit tainted to me, of course it´s nice if you have friends that help you and a shared victory is still cool. But I can´t help help but feel less thrilled when someone else beats the boss for me, I guess I´m a bit selfish in that way that I want to be the one that brings the monster down!
A shared victory is still a victory? Absolutely, don´t get me wrong I enjoy playing with other people and if we can bring down a difficult boss then that´s cool. But sometimes I do enjoy going on an adventure just by myself and beating bosses on my own. Because that´s probably one of the best feelings for me when I play games, beating the impossible all by myself!
