Sinful Sunday: Spoiler alert!
It seems so innocent, you´ve seen an awesome movie or played a great game and you want to talk about it with someone else. But the problem is that the other hasn´t seen that movie or played that game, so anyone who´s at least nice enough to understand that it´s rude to spoil anything keeps his or her mouth shut! Unfortunately a lot of people are probably not that nice or just have a serious problem keeping their mouth shut about certain things that could be considered as spoilers.
What´s the big deal about spoiling something? It does seem like it´s not a big deal, but imagine those movies you´ve seen in the past and that you loved because of suprising moments or just amazing scenes where your mind got blown away. So what would´ve happened if someone would´ve already told you about that before you saw that? I think the effect of the suprise would be a lot less, because it was spoiled for you. Spoilers ruin the experience and that´s why it´s wrong to spoil something!
I know that sometimes it sucks, you want to talk about a movie or a game with others but somehow none of them have seen it or played it. Which means that you can´t talk about it with them, at least if you´re a good guy. If you´re a douchebag then you´ll talk about it anyway, maybe at first you try to keep it spoiler free but sooner or later you might say something that could be considered as a spoiler. Which will probably get you some hate from other people, but I guess we all make mistakes and if it happened by accident then I doubt anyone will hold a grudge.
What is a spoiler? In case you´re in the dark what would be considered as a spoiler I´ll make it quite simple. A spoiler is a moment in a movie, game or book that is considered as important and that you might want to see yourself instead of hearing it from someone else. No matter how interesting it can be to hear someone else talk about it, I think you probably want to hear or see certain things yourself.
So what do you do when somebody is about to spoil something? Well you can punch that person in the face but that might be a bit extreme, you can interrupt that person and say that you don´t want to hear that. If someone ignores you and keeps talking then just walk away or if you have music with you then just listen to that. I´d say a friend wouldn´t deliberately spoil something, but if you do have douchebag friends just be prepared for that.
