Diablo III
When I first heard of this game it looked interesting but somehow I wasn´t that tempted to buy it, then after launch I heard so many bad stories about this game that I decided to just ignore this game. Until I played the demo on Xboxlive this month, I really enjoyed that and had a lot of fun shooting the shit out of enemies and getting loot! It reminds me so much of my Baldur´s Gate Dark Alliance days, sure that wasn´t the best game but I had fun with that and I can say the same about Diablo III.
What´s so great about this game? A lot of things really, but let me get into detail so I can show you what I mean. I really like the characters and classes, they actually speak and this is new to me because usually you play as a mute hero in these type of games. Also you have a bit of a backstory, of course it´s not that important but it does set the type of character of the person you play as. So far I´ve been playing as a demon hunter and a mage, both are a lot of fun to play and you can do some massive damage. But also the levels look nice, the first one is dark and creepy. But I have to admit that not every level is like that, some levels are bright and not creepy at all. Which is a shame but that´s ok, I´d say you´re probably more focused on slaying enemies anyway. You have a couple of intense moments in levels with a lot of enemies, but if you play smart it shouldn´t be too much trouble. I also like that you get a follower, this is a companion that helps you and also someone you can talk with and who gives comments on the things you do. Ok it´s not as detailed as in Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect but it´s nice that they put this in the game.
So what is so bad about this game? I´ve heard people complain that the game isn´t dark enough, which is partly true because not every level is that creepy and sometimes it´s just bright and almost friendly. Well except from the monsters trying to kill you! Getting gold is sometimes also troublesome, because everything is very expensive which means if you waste gold you can get yourself into some trouble later in the game. Something else that I find annoying is that when you try to level up that blacksmith and the jeweler is that you need blue prints that only drop in nightmare mode or higher, but you can only get into nightmare mode after you beat normal mode. Which means that Diablo III is a game where you need to finish the game several times before you can get to the good things. This is quite frustrating and not something I like, it doesn´t damage the game that much but it´s a shame that the developers decided to do this. I´m usually done with a game when I finish it or sometimes after I finished it twice, the last thing I want is to finish the game several times to actually get better gear. Anyway Diablo III is not a bad game, not the best game but definately not a bad game. Feel free to give it a try if you haven´t done so already, it´s more fun than you would expect!
