Ghost Recon Wildlands, what did the open beta reveal?

I love open world games, to be able to go where I want to go and pretty much do whatever I feel like doing. This is what Ghost Recon Wildlands is most of the time, it gives you a lot to do and you can decide how you want to do it. That sounds amazing to me and after playing the game in the open beta I also have faith that this game will be amazing! Ghost Recon Wildlands is GTA V with tactics? Eh not really, maybe you can see some similarities but honestly it's not the same. Sure you can steal cars or other vehicles and do a lot of side missions but the one thing that these two games would connect would be that they're both open world games. I think Ghost Recon Wildlands is more like the game Mercenaries (on the Xbox) and Mercenaries 2 (on the Xbox 360). Except Ghost Recon Wildlands looks better and is a bit less ridiculous than the Mercenaries games. Be your own man or woman? Before you start you can create your own character, not only does this create a unique characte...

Movie Monday: Underworld Blood Wars

More than a decade ago I had this girlfriend that was really into vampires and all the other supernatural things. She introduced me to the Underworld movies and I have to admit eventhough I'm not really into the whole vampire thing the movies are fun to watch. Now many years after the first movie we have the fifth movie in the Underworld series called Underworld Blood Wars and as the name implies there is going to be a bloody war between the vampires and the lycans. But is this movie still watchable or have the Underworld movies turned into direct to dvd crap? Selene is back? As fans of the first couple of movies you can be happy to see that Selene is back and she does some quite a lot of killing, but she seems older and slower. All the power she held in the previous movies seems to have vanished as she has trouble beating some of her opponents. But that doesn't make her less of a badass! So eventhough Selene is back she's not quite the Selene you remember, but there is...

Sinful Sunday: Being a fanatic gamer

Do you know what a fanatic gamer is? It usually means that you like to win and often take games a bit too serious. It doesn't mean that you don't have fun playing games, but you do go out of your way to win and succeed while others are pretty much there to have a good time. Do you recognize yourself in that? Well if you do then I bet your friends are happy to play with you, I know my friends are always happy to play games with me...not! What makes fanatic gamers so annoying? It's often the intensity of the moment. For example when I played Mario Kart 64 with my girlfriend at the time and a friend I gave them a headstart, yes I was that cocky, and then gave it my all to still beat them. They were just playing for fun but all I could see was winning. In my defense it's really fighting, racing and sport games that bring out this side of me the most. Which is why I prefer not to play these games and absolutely not with other people. The annoying part is that the fanatic...

Prey, don't underestimate this game!

When I first heard of Prey I wasn't excited for the game, I saw just a couple of screenshots and it didn't amaze me. But the more I see and the more I hear about this game the more interested I become, it's the type of game that might appear out of nowhere but once you've discovered it you're probably interested in playing it! What is Prey? Prey is a sci-fi horror first person shooter. What does that mean? It means you can shoot things but half of the time things might also freak you the fuck out. You could see this game a bit like a mix between Bioshock and Dead Space, but instead of reanimated corpses you deal with some type of shadow monsters that are called mimics. You play as Morgan Yu and your character can be a male or a female. That is entirely up to you and as far as I know Morgan doesn't speak so it doesn't really make that much of a difference. What does stay the same is your brother Alex that works in a weird testing facility and you are one ...

YouTube adventures part -50- It's your channel?

I make videos that I like, maybe that's selfish but I think it's silly to make videos to please others. Maybe people that have a lot of subcribers and get a lot views feel the weight of their opinions more but when you have a super small channel like me then you can pretty much do whatever you want! Or not? It's your YouTube channel? There is nothing wrong with giving the subscribers and viewers what they want, especially if it's something you like to do as well. But you should keep in mind that it is your channel and that you should do what makes you happy. If you keep making videos just to please others and not have fun yourself then I wonder how long you can keep that up because things will only become worse and when you have less fun making the videos then I doubt your sucscribers will like that. So stop trying to please people and just do what makes you happy, if other people like that as well then that's good but if they don't like it then that's j...

For Honor (multiplayer) is a broken piece of shit?

Ok maybe that's a bit harsh but the amount of times I've been disconnected during a match is just ridiculous. I checked my connection and it's not my fault, everything is ok on my end but Ubisoft on the other hand seems to have some issues... Why do you disconnect? You would expect to have some issues on your end but I keep getting a green stable connection and it doesn't even shift to yellow or red. But sometimes during matches, often the big fights (4 vs 4), I lose connection for no real reason. It usually starts with some serious lag and then boom you're back in the main menu. What really sucks about this is that you lose all your progress in the match, so if you got more than ten eliminations then you lost those and all progress for objectives are also lost so it's really frustrating! I often disconnect in the middle of the map, around point B (on most maps) where all the soldiers are hanging around fight for control of the point. This doesn't happen...

Arcade mode in Overwatch is hell on Earth?

Ok that might be a bit of exaggeration but honestly a lot of people I meet in arcade mode are some of the worst people you can meet in a game. This really makes getting nine wins for your three free loot boxes an unpleasant task that you sometimes would rather skip than go for. But Blizzard seems to think that everything is fine and that arcade mode is perfect this way. But I don't think it's fine at all! What's so bad about arcade mode? Do you have a moment? No forget that, if I have to list everything then I'll be typing for hours! Some of the worst things about arcade mode are the cheesers, people that try to get an easy win by using cheese tactics. Which often means they all go as the same character and try to overwhelm the other team. This surprisingly works a lot because a lot of people in arcade mode are people who aren't even ranked, not that this is bad thing but that sometimes means that they're not that good at the game. Which is fine but when you...

When people keep stealing your kills in a game

I understand what it means to be a part of a team and I also understand that sometimes people just try to help you. But there are also people out there that make it their mission to constantly steal your kills and be a prick the entire match. As much as I want to believe that everyone is just trying to help I do realize that not everyone is such a good team mate, some people are just scumbags! Why do people steal your kills? I don't think every person that does that is trying to be an asshole, some people don't think about it and just take every kill they can get and not think about it. This can lead to some frustration and make certain people quite annoyed which then leads to other problems like team killing or verbal abuse. But you should keep in mind that when you see a team mate downing an enemy or fighting in a duel that it is lame to jump in, give your team mate a chance to win and if he or she needs help then they'll most likely let you know. Unfortunately not ev...

Movie Monday: Justice League Dark

With the Justice League coming soon and the not so popular DC movies so far, Batman vs Superman and the Suicide Squad weren't really that popular and well received, I must admit that I really enjoyed watching Justice League Dark because not only does this show you some other less familiar heroes but also gives you a good story. So hopefully this is good news for DC and that things only get better from now on! Matt is back? If you're a fan of Constantine like me then you'll be happy to know that the voice of Constantine in Justice League Dark is performed by Matt Ryan, the actor who played John Constantine in the series with the same name that was cancelled, which is really cool! Not only is he good as Constantine it also kind of gives the fans another chapter as Constantine in this movie, sure it's animated but it's still well done. Another name you probably know now in the Justice League animated movies is Jason O'Mara doing the voice of Batman, who does a ...

Sinful Sunday: Why are you getting mad?

Whenever I play a game I try to have fun, but you can only take that much crap in a game until you get annoyed, frustrated or even mad. This could be because of some failure in the game or other people making your life miserable in multiplayer. But is that a good reason to get mad? Probably not... R U MAD BRO?!!! I honestly hate it when people say this, not only do I consider these people as lazy douchebags (not typing the full word but just a letter with the same sound is something I find lazy) but it's also frustrating when people keep typing this or saying this. Most of the time they know that they're douchebags that pretty much want to annoy you and make you mad, but then have to ask you if you're mad. Surprisingly these douchebags don't like to be treated that way either. It's sometimes a contest of who can be the more annoying douchebag instead of just trying to have fun playing a game. I don't expect to be friends with everyone I meet but when did ...

It's just a game?!!!

As a kid I had to hear this a lot, most times when I got pissed at the game and someone would always mention that it's just a game. This didn't make me feel better, it gave me more the impression that the person saying that it's just a game had no idea what he or she was talking about. But is it really that important to win? Isn't more about having fun? Well... Is it just a game? As a kid, teenager and adult I kept hearing people telling me it's just a game. Usually people that don't play games themselves love to tell you that it's just a game, but what the hell do they know? They never play games so they don't know what's going on. But when you get older you do see their point because why am I getting mad or upset? Oh I lost this multiplayer match but hey I can always win the next one or the one after that. That's probably how a mature and responsible person would react, I on the other hand want to win as much as I can. Usually for a reason ...

YouTube adventures part -49- Making friends/enemies

When I play games I have moments where I meet friendly people and sometimes not so friendly people, as a YouTuber it's pretty much the same idea because you can encounter friendly people and not so friendly people. Some will support you and even give you advice while others can only insult you or talk shit about you and your videos. I guess you can't really escape that, but don't let that keep you from starting a YouTube channel or keep going with your channel. It can't all be about... Making friends/enemies! When I first started with my channel I didn't tell anyone about it, not my family and not my friends. I didn't want to get pity subscribers or views from them. If my videos suck then let it be so, I was looking for honesty and not attention. Eventually my sister found out and she was one of my first subscribers, soon after that others followed but I was never someone with a lot of subscribers or views and I'm ok with that. I don't really conside...

For Honor, rage game or good fun?

I wrote a week ago about this game, I had my doubts and didn't even know if I wanted to buy it. But I took a chance and especially after playing the open beta I enjoyed playing this game. I wasn't happy about everything but when the majority of the game is fun then you take the less fun parts with it. But is For Honor really that fun? Let's find out... The campaign is too short? Whenever I buy a new game I first play the campaign, it's a good way to get familiar with the game and I also want to see how much fun the story is. Well the campaign turned out to be very short. There are three chapters with each chapter having six parts, so that means you have a total of 18 missions total! I don't know about you but that's a lot shorter than I thought. I mean I was hoping for at least double the amount of missions. Especially when I look at the characters in the campaign, you only get to play as some of the heroes in For Honor and that's a missed opportunity in...

First play the campaign before you jump into multiplayer?

You can call me old fashioned but I prefer to first play the story mode, not just because I like stories in games but also because it helps me get familiar with the game. Often the campaign has a tutorial of some sort that helps you get familiar with the controls and it also gives you some tips. If you immedately jump into multiplayer you often go in as a noob and often get slaughtered as a noob, maybe you enjoy that but I personally don't like that! Playing the campaign first is smart? I think it is. Why? Well you get familiar with the game, you might pick up some tricks that can help you in multiplayer and it's nice when you're not the dumbass on the team that doesn't know how to play the game. I hate being the guy on the team that sucks, because I can just feel people looking at me and probably wishing terrible things on me. I know I get that feeling every now and then when I see a level one jump into multiplayer and see he or she hasn't played the campaign. ...

Overwatch: Get rid of groups in quickplay!

Do you enjoy playing Overwatch? I have my ups and downs with this game but certain things seem to always annoy me, one of those things is when I constantly face a group of friends in quickplay when I have all randoms in my team. That means no communication and team work on my side and all of that on the other side, so you can imagine how that match ends. So please Blizzard give us a quickplay mode without groups! Groups are bad? They can be bad, but sometimes they're also good and up to the point where your team just gets destroyed. It also doesn't help when people on your team pick the snipers and pretty much ignore the objective. That's a quick and frustrating way to lose and it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people rage quit from those matches. Now I'm not saying that's a good thing but I can understand why some people do that. The worst thing is when people in the group are of a higher skill level than you. So let's say one guy in their group isn...

Movie Monday: Doctor Strange

Super hero movies are still pretty hot so it doesn't surprise me that there are still a lot of those around, but that's not a bad thing as long as they're done right. I think that Doctor Strange is one of those movies that is done right, not that I'm an expert on Doctor Strange but the character seems real to me and not some cartoon to movie experience. It's also a great movie for people that know nothing about Doctor Strange to get a bit more familiar with him. Who is Doctor Strange? As his name implies he's a doctor, but not just a doctor but more of an amazing surgeon that can do the impossible. But then after an accident he can't use his hands proper anymore and sees his future pretty grim. But then he hears about a magical place where you can heal and impossible things are possible, so Strange goes there hoping to heal his hands and go back to his old job. Except things go a bit different when he learns about magic and becomes pretty good at it hims...

Sinful Sunday: Taunting your opponent

I'm not going to pretend to be a friendly guy, an opponent in a game is an obstacle and I try to beat that obstacle, but at least I try to keep things civilized (for as far that's possible). Which means no teabagging, unless someone is really asking for it, and no silly emotes when I beat someone in a one on one fight. But sometimes, just sometimes, it feels good to be silly and do the emotes just as a bit of teasing and taunting. Is that really a bad thing? There's nothing wrong with taunting? Between friends that is pretty much expected, I mean teabagging a friend is pretty much a good way to make fun of them. Just keep in mind that if he or she is sitting next to you that you stay out of punching range! I have no problems with this, but with strangers I feel kind of awkward to do this. You don't know these people and being this annoying douchebag online usually makes people go after you specifically. Which can be problematic and annoying if that goes on the entir...

Playing with other people or bots?

Whenever I dive into multiplayer I like to first play against bots, not that I don't enjoy playing against other people but I first like to practice a bit on bots if that's possible. I really hate being the noob in the team and failing at almost everything I do, so I first practice a bit on bots until I'm more confident about my skills. At that point I switch to playing against other people, not that this is a guarantee to win but it will often save you from making some dumb mistakes. Playing against bots is smart? Not only is it a good way to practice, it's also a good way to get warmed up for multiplayer. Whenever I dive into multiplayer directly without a practice match against bots I often suck, my aim isn't that good and I will often have a slower response time. It usually takes a couple of matches to get ready and be prepared for a match against other people, especially when these people are experienced players. So not only are bots a good way to get bette...

For Honor (open beta)

I decided to jump into For Honor and see for myself how good or how bad this game is. I have to admit that I was a bit surprised, in a good way, because the game is actually fun to play. I expected things to be a bit less good but with low expectations things usually turn out to be better. What I really like are the different characters or heroes in this game, because the idea is the same but they still play quite different if you compare them. I'm not completely convinced if this is the game for me but I'm definitely interested in playing some more! Different ways to play? Unfortunately the open beta only has multiplayer for you but you can practice against bots if you don't feel comfortable playing against other people, it can be a bit much learning all the moves and abilities just like that. Some characters/heroes are also more difficult to master than others. For example the Orochi and the Peace Keeper are fast and agile fighters but at the same time they have less ...

Unhelpful team mates in games

When you play multiplayer with other people then there is a good chance you end up in a team with other people that aren't going to be very helpful. This can be quite simple as in not communicating up to the point where people are blaming you for everything that goes wrong or where people are just picking fights with others because they're having a bad day. Somehow there is never a shortage of unhelpful people online! People blame you for losing? Oh yeah this is quite popular, I know that I sometimes also have this urge but I keep this to myself. But it's usually not rocket science to figure out who the weak link in the team is, usually it's someone who gets no kills and pretty much does nothing or just keeps dying. Does that give you the right to blame this person for the loss? Well you could see it that way, but I think a decent person just accepts the loss and moves on. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of decent people in online competitive multiplayer, which...

Rockstar, can we please get a crooked cop dlc for GTA Online?

I like GTA V Online, it's a fun game where you can do pretty much anything you want. I guess the only problem I have with this game mode are annoying people that are trying to ruin your fun. But that's why there are private lobbies, so you can still have fun and not deal with the drama of other people. But I feel like GTA Online could use something, something we haven't seen in GTA Online. I'm talking about crooked cops dlc! What is crooked cops dlc? It's a thought really, but one that could be really cool and fun to play. So you can play as a cop, but instead of being a good cop you're one of the bad ones and you pretty much form your own special task force or go solo and collect on protection money or do your own dirty business while pretending to be a good cop. This could give you completely different gameplay, for example if you're not caught red handed you could fool the other cops and get away with certain things, unless you do too many suspicious ...

Movie Monday: Inferno

Do you like to read books? Well I like to read books but sometimes I get lazy and I prefer to see the movie, which probably makes me an uncultured savage but the thing is that sometimes that's not a bad thing when the movie is pretty good. Does that make Inferno good? Well...maybe. The third one is the charm? Inferno is the third movie in the Robert langdon series, previous movies are the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, and is based on the book with the same name written by Dan Brown. So far so good you might think and you would be right because Inferno fits pretty good in the series, mostly thanks to the actors and the puzzling start of the movie. At the beginning of the movie Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with no memory of what happened to him or how he got there. There is no time for figuring that out because immediately an assassin is trying to kill him and his doctor helps him escape. Together they stumble on a deadly plan to wipe out half of the popu...

Sinful Sunday: Don't get mad at your team mates?

If you have ever played a team based multiplayer game then I bet that you've had moments that you were annoyed or even pissed off at team mates, especially when these are random people you don't know and don't communicate or work with you as a team. How can you not be annoyed or frustrated with these people? Well as long as you win you're probably fine, but the moment things go wrong things get unpleasant in a team! Getting mad at team mates is natural? I think it's not that unusual, especially when the team is not communicating and not working together because then you're hardly a team and it makes winning that much more difficult. But some people get mad really fast and sometimes for dumb reasons as well. For example in Overwatch there are people that will yell at you if you pick a certain character, they will give you shit from the beginning till the end of the match just because they think the character is useless. But does that automaticly mean you'...

Blizzard, please make some changes in Overwatch (arcade mode)

It's been more than eight months and I still play Overwatch every now and then, usually for some free loot boxes, checking out new characters or maps and playing in a new event. I like this, a lot even, but the game definitely has certain moments and parts that make me want to stop playing it almost immediately because it's frustrating to say the least. One of these frustrating parts is in arcade mode, a mode that is meant to be fun but can often be very annoying. Arcade mode needs to change? I think that arcade mode could use some changes. The first thing I would like to see different are the loot boxes, instead of giving three free loot boxes to people that get nine victories (1 for each 3 wins) you could give people a free loot box for every five matches you play in arcade mode, which means it doesn't matter who wins or loses and that makes it less frustrating already. People can play whatever they want and do whatever they want, they just need to complete a total of...

YouTube adventures part -48- You don't need videos about games?

When you're looking for gameplay, game trailers, tips and tricks for certain games or achievement and trophy guides then you can find a lot of those on YouTube, perhaps too many. But games are popular and people that want their channel to grow will often hope that their game channels will grow fast and that they have more succes that way. But you don't need to play games or make videos about games to become succesful on YouTube. This might surprise you but considering that there are already a lot of game channels and there are a lot of people interested in other things than gaming, you might ask yourself... You don't need videos about games to become succesful on YouTube? Well that's true, there are several people that have thousands of subscribers and don't have any game related videos on their channel. Some have music on their channel, which is risky because of copyright, and others make vlogs or information videos about other subjects. For example there are p...

Games give you feelings?

Maybe some tough and cool people would never admit that they got emotional because of a game but in all honesty I think most people that play games feel something. Games often make you happy, sad, angry, annoyed, depressed, they can make you laugh and sometimes even make you think about things in life. In some games you can get all these emotions and then there are games where you get no emotions from at all. It's all possible! Games can make you feel in a certain way? Absolutely! Have you ever played one of the Telltale games? Well then you probably know how games can make you feel, one moment you're happy and the next moment you're sad because of choices or just things that happen in the game. There are also other games like Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy XV that have some intense moments, the music definitely makes things even more intense and the feelings you get from that are very real. You might think that this is silly but I think that the developers mean for you...
