Resident Evil 7 isn't a Resident Evil game?

I don't know if it's just trolls but some people are saying that Resident Evil 7 isn't really a Resident Evil game. Which is of course ridiculous because not only is there Resident Evil in the title, it's also one of the numbered games and it doesn't get more real then that in Resident Evil games. So why are people complaining about Resident Evil 7 so much? Well let's find out! Resident Evil 7 isn't a Resident Evil game? Of course it is a Resident Evil game! Even if you ignore the title and the ending, you see some clear signs of this being a Resident Evil game. For example the herbs and being able to mix them to make stronger medicine, the item box, only being able to carry a certain amount of items at once, the save system (almost classic Resident Evil except you do get some autosaves as well) and mutated bosses. These are all things you would find in previous Resident Evil games, ok not in all of them but some of them (especially the older games) w...

Movie Monday: The magnificent seven

As a kid I watched a lot of westerns, mostly thanks to my father that watched a lot of Clint Eastwood movies but also John Wayne movies. One of those popular John Wayne movies is the magnificent seven, which is a pretty good movie and has gotten a remake. This remake pretty much still comes down to the same idea but it's in my opinion a bit rougher and more intense. But does that make it a good movie? Well...let's find out! Remakes are bad? I'm not a big fan of remakes, mostly because they're often a way to earn some money instead of really giving you something new. A lot of times I don't feel like we didn't need a remake of a certain movie but if it's done right then it can be fun to watch. I think that the magnificent seven is a good example of a movie remake that maybe no one was really asking for but it was done right, because I didn't feel like I was wasting my time watching this movie. There's enough going on in this movie to give the viewe...

Sinful Sunday: Teabagging is for losers?

Recently I heard that teabagging was going to be forbidden in championships, at least in the Killer Instinct championship, and I read that there were also talks about this in the Rainbow Six Siege eSports championships to get players banned if they teabag others. So the question really is, should teabagging be forbidden or is it just harmless fun? Teabagging is for losers? I often indentify teabagging with immature losers, people that have to humiliate an opponent because they want to annoy this person or just think it's funny. But if you teabag this person then they go out of their minds and ignore the entire team just to get back at you. So I do recognize some sad sack of shit behaviour in teabagging, which is why I often don't get involved in it. If someone teabags me I just ignore that, who the fuck cares about that anyway? Well a lot of people, because the moment teabagging was supposedly forbidden in championships people freaked the fuck out! Suddenly people who claim...

Multiplayer buffs and nerfs, nobody wins?

When you play competitive multiplayer then you will quickly realize which characters and/or weapons are better than others. Of course the developers will try to make things in a way that it's all balanced but lets be honest that is hardly ever true, even if it's true then there will be buffs and nerfs because some people keep whining about certain things and that is the start of the never ending tinkering. My conclusion, nobody wins! Why does everybody lose with buffs and nerfs? Because one character and/or weapon is made a bit better but that makes this character and/or weapon better than others, even if it's just a little bit that can already lead to a situation where everyone wants to use that character and/or weapon and so that character and/or weapon will be nerfed later. So you might one moment have an overpowered character and the next moment that character is pretty much useless in certain situations, the same can be said about weapons. Getting to the point of w...

YouTube adventures part -47- You want YouTubers to suffer?

I often recognize three types of people that watch YouTube videos. The first group of people like to watch succesful videos, they want the YouTuber to succeed with getting an achievement or trophy and winning matches. Then there are people that like humour and love watching silly videos or people having fun with their friends while playing a game. But there are also people that like it when YouTubers fail, when they get upset and when things go horribly wrong. So my question to you is... Do you want YouTubers to suffer? I know it sounds a bit disturbed but with suffering I mean that they get mad or just annoyed with what's going on in the video. For example someone who can't beat a boss, can't beat a certain level or someone who keeps getting defeated in multiplayer. Some people don't want to see this, but there are people that love to see this. I have to admit that it can be funny to see some rage videos, maybe because I sometimes have my rage moments as well so I ...

Resident Evil 7, everything you ever wanted?

A lot of people say that Resident Evil 7 makes Resident Evil scary again, well they're not wrong but is this really a Resident Evil game? After playing the game for quite a bit and being in certain situations I have to admit that I recognize Resident Evil elements but at the same time feel like a complete stranger in this game, which is weird because I'm a Resident Evil veteran that has played all the previous Resident Evil games. So the question is, is Resident Evil 7 everything you ever wanted or is it something else? Resident Evil 7 is different? Yeah you can definitely say that because the game is different, sure there are elements that are the same but playing the game in first person perspective is already a big game changer. This doesn't just make the game more scary but also makes it a bit more difficult for me to hit enemies. Melee in first person view is horrible, I just hack and slash and end up dead half of the time. Probably because I miss too many times an...

Overwatch: Year of the Rooster event

I must admit that I didn't expect to get another event that quickly in Overwatch because the Winter Wonderland event was less than a month ago active. But that doesn't make this a lame filler event, this event actually gives you something new to do in the game and you get some more customizable items you can use to make your characters look cool. Year of the Rooster event is a good event? When I look at the skins then there are definitely some cool looking skins but I can't say I like all of them, but that's fine because I already have a lot of skins I'm happy with so one more or less on a character doesn't really matter to me. The new game mode, capture the rooster, is capture flag and I have to admit that it's a fun game mode in Overwatch. You can play as all characters and you have to defend your flag while trying to capture the flag of the other team. It's not that difficult and yet it can be difficult sometimes to win. So this is the capture t...

Games make you feel better/worse?

There have been moments in my life where I was depressed, really at the point where I didn't even feel like getting out of bed and just waste the day away doing nothing because I didn't think it would matter anyway. As a gamer I often jumped into a game just to escape the misery of reality and lose myself in the fantasy world of the game. But is that really such a smart thing? I mean you don't really solve your problems this way, you're pretty much evading them and what's bad can become much worse. Games can make you feel better? I love playing games, they often help me escape reality and help me get into an exciting adventure or just some random multiplayer fun. It's a great escape of the boring reality or sometimes help you get through painful moments in your life. I've heard from other people that games helped them through rough moments as well. The loss of a loved one can be a very tough moment for some of us, but a friend of mine got through this th...

Movie Monday: Jack Reacher: Never go back

Have you seen the movie Jack Reacher? It's a pretty good action movie from 2012 and shows Tom Cruise playing as a badass crime fighter, eventhough he is more a type of investigator that solves problems. Is that a good way to describe Jack Reacher? Well let's say it is. In 2016 the sequel, Jack Reacher: Never go back, is trying to keep you in the action from the previous movie but add a bit more mystery to it. But is that a good combination? Tom is getting too old for this shit? To be totally honest I don't think so, sure you can see he's a bit older but he can still kick ass. Besides it would be weird to see a different actor playing as Jack Reacher after the first movie because I think Tom Cruise did a great job as Jack Reacher. But the problem I have with Jack Reacher: Never go back is that the movie is a bit divided. On one hand you follow Jack and his friend (maybe love interest) Major Susan Turner, who has been accused of treason and they try to find out who th...

Sinful Sunday: Playing for fun is stupid?

You have all types of gamers, some play for fun and there are some that play to win. But is it possible that you both play for fun and play to win? Well it's possible, but that would mean that you win every match and that you're succesful. Which means the moment things go wrong, as in you start losing and failing, that you're not having fun anymore. But the real question is, is playing for fun stupid when you play ranked multiplayer? Playing for fun is stupid? I don't think it's stupid, mostly because I play for fun and consider having fun more important than winning. At the same time I have to admit that I have more fun with games when I win, so there is definitely a connection for me. Because no matter how much fun a game is when you keep losing and failing then you're not going to have a lot of fun. So even if you play for fun you still would like to succeed, to win and to get things done. Because I feel a lot better when I get achievements, beat a diffic...

Solo queue in (ranked) multiplayer is dumb?

A lot of times I jump into multiplayer on my own, most of my friends play on pc or Playstation or they play different games than me. This often means that if I want to play multiplayer I have to do that on my own, which isn't really a problem until you face a team of friends that will utterly destroy you! So the question is, is it dumb to solo queue in multiplayer? Multiplayer should only be for groups? I certainly hope not! I mean we don't all have friends that play the same games or that are available to play games with every time you want to play a game. So if my only chance to play multiplayer would be with teaming up with other people then I would be miserable. I like to jump in whenever I want to, even if this means I have to solo queue. I'm ok with that because I can usually handle things, as long as I'm not facing a pro team or a team that works really well together. I try to be social and helpful but when your entire team stays silent and there is no teamwo...

YouTube adventures part -46- Keep your channel positive?

Some YouTubers refuse to upload videos where they got angry or when things went wrong. Somehow they consider that as unwanted and refuse to upload these videos, which makes sense if you want to keep things positive. But is it really such a bad thing to show the other side of gaming? So the real question is... Should you keep your channel positive? Of course you want to make fun videos, but fun doesn't always mean getting a lot of kills and winning every match. I think for viewers that can actually get boring really fast. The same counts for a single player walkthrough, because no matter how much you want the YouTuber succeed it's funny when something goes wrong or something unexpected happens. I personally prefer that ten times over the perfect run where everything goes smooth. So should you have a negative channel? Well no, because no matter how much fun it can be to see someone fail every now and then even that becomes a bit lame if every video is the same. So try to mi...

What is a gamer?

Whenever I ask someone who doesn't play games what they think a gamer looks like then you get some interesting answers, eventhough some people will give you the typical answers of some fat kid that lives in his mother's basement. But what is a gamer really and can people recognize you as a gamer just by looking at you? Looks don't mean a thing? The whole gamers are fat or nerds idea is really something from the 80's and early 90's. If you've seen YouTubers that play games then you know that not everyone is fat or looks like a nerd. But what does a nerd look like? Is that some awkward person with glasses on or just someone that enjoys playing games and spending most of his or her time on a computer? The thing is that looks don't have to mean a thing because someone can look like they're a model and still spend a lot of time playing games. Does that make him or her also a nerd? It's easy to judge and even easier to be an asshole to others. The prob...

What I'm hoping for in State of Decay 2

Have you played State of Decay? It's a fun game that allows you to experience a zombie apocalypse and it's pretty realistic. If your character dies then that character stays dead and you have to pick someone else from your community as your playable character. You also need to constantly look for supplies and resources to keep your community alive and defend yourself against the zombies. State of Decay 2 is coming out this year but what do you want to see in this game? Well there are some things I would like to see in this game... State of Decay 2 needs improvement? State of Decay is a fun game but there are definitely things about the game that are broken and just stupid. For example zombies running through doors and windows that are shut is just ridiculous, not only does this catch you off guard it completely feels like the game is cheating just to screw you over. Something else that bothers me is how zombies are sometimes alerted to your presence while you make no noise ...

Ghost Recon Wildlands is going to be better than the Division?

I hear a lot of people that are concerned about Ghost Recon Wildlands because after the Division they don't really trust Ubisoft, which doesn't surprise me since it's not the first time a Ubisoft game turns out to be less interesting than was promised. But does that make Ghost Recon Wildlands automaticly bad or will this game actually be better than the Division? Ghost Recon Wildlands isn't the Division? I can see how some people are a bit confused, but you should keep in mind that Ghost Recon Wildlands gives you more freedom and also gives you more specialized classes to play as. In the Division you had three types of skills to choose from and pick just a few abilities from those skills. But what I personally didn't like about the Division is that you got tired of the game quickly because the moment I was done with the story there was nothing else to do. Ghost Recon Wildlands give you a bit open world where you can do mission and you work as a team with three o...

Movie Monday: Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children

Do you like Tim Burton movies? Well I don't know about you but I like these type of odd but fun movies. Wether it's Batman and Batman Returns, Sleepy Hollow or Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children I think they're all fun to watch. But how good is Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children? Well let's find out! This is another weird movie? Eh...yes, but before you think this movie is a waste of time I would like to add that it's a good movie! Sure you might need to a have a bit of an interest for weird and unusual things but if you can handle and accept that then the movie should be quite enjoyable. In the movie you follow Jacob Portman when after a strange encounter and the death of his grandfather he decides to look for a certain Miss Peregrine that is mentioned in the old stories of his grandfather. At first he doesn't believe she and the children from the stories actually exist but he meets them on an island. There he finds out that these ...

Sinful Sunday: Rage quitters are the worst?

You have all types of people, some are nice and some are douchebags. You can't avoid the douchebags but at least they can't be that much of a problem or can they? Well in Overwatch I discovered that now people have a new strategy, whenever a team is losing wether that's in quickplay or arcade they just all leave, this way you don't get a win and you have to start over. Seriously rage quitters are the worst! Why are rage quitters so annoying? Because they can mess everything up. For example in Overwatch you can earn three loot boxes every week in arcade mode and you need nine wins for that. But when people keep leaving matches they can't win anymore, or at least they don't think they can win that match, a lot of people leave which cancels the match and means that you don't get a win. This is so annoying when you get robbed or several victories and it means you have to play longer just to get your nine wins for the free loot boxes. This sounds like whining...

Resident Evil 7 is going back to its roots?

I keep hearing in videos about Resident Evil 7 that the game is going back to its roots, in other words how it all started. But is that really true? I mean if I look at Resident Evil or even Resident Evil remake then it looks nothing like Resident Evil 7. Perhaps they just mean that the game is scary again and has less to do with getting a high zombie kill count. Is Resident Evil 7 going back to its roots? I don't think that's true, because going back to its roots would mean something else than Resident Evil 7. You would have a third person survival horror shooter with fixed camera positions and zombies. Yes zombies, this is something we haven't really seen for quite some time in the Resident Evil games. Ok in Resident Evil 6 you have zombies in the Leon campaign but that still felt a bit off to me. Where are the creepy encounters in a small room where you either have to turn around and run as fast as you can or quickly try to shoot it in the head! Resident Evil 7 is go...

YouTube aventures part -45- Some fans act weird or annoying?

Have you ever seen a YouTube video of someone with a lot of subscribers and then in one of his or her videos this YouTuber is recognized and people are suddenly acting weird or annoying? It wouldn't surprise me because some people suddenly turn into some weird people that either want to get noticed in the video or others go out of their way to try and ruin the video so the YouTuber can't use it. So you have to ask yourself... Why do some 'fans' act weird or annoying? I guess YouTubers are a bit famous, well that's an understatement when you look at certain YouTubers that have millions of subscribers and often get instantly recognized, so the moment someone meets a famous person then some people can't help but act weird. It's like meeting a movie star or a rock star in real life and this can be so exciting for some people that they start acting weird and maybe even annoying. But annoying comes more into place online, because people feel safe online so act...

Playing games for achievements/trophies?

Have you ever heard one of your friends tell you that a game was fun and when you played it the game wasn't that much fun? So when you asked him or her why it was so much fun it turned out he or she got a lot of easy achievements/trophies in that game. That kind of makes me wonder, do achievements/trophies equal fun or is this just something that only some people find interesting? Achievement/trophy hunters play games for achievements/trophies and not fun? I don't think that's true, mostly based on my own experience as an achievement hunter. As much as I like to get achievements I don't buy games just to boost my total achievement score nor do I rate games on how easily I get achievements in them. It makes no sense at all to do that and you pretty much spread false information that way. Oh yeah this game is amazing just because you can get a thousand gamerscore in a day or two, yes truly amazing but it doesn't mean that the game is fun nor does it look like this...

Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII remake are delayed?

So you know the saying of don't shoot the messenger? Well I hope you keep that in mind when I give you some bad news, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII remake are delayed. So to put it mildly, that sucks! Why are the games being delayed? From what I heard it's because the developers want to make the games a lot of fun to play so they want to make certain that they're good, which means they need more time to work on them. I know that this sucks for everyone that was hoping to play these games soon but it will just mean that we have to wait a little bit longer. Is that a problem? Well that depends, I guess some people hate waiting but I think most gamers have gotten used to it. Just keep in mind that the more time they spend on these games the better they'll (hopefully) be. So these games being delayed isn't a bad thing? I don't think so, sure it's a bit of a disappointment but at least they're not cancelled. Now that would really suck! The de...

Saying gamer girl to someone is offensive?

It never surprises me how some people get really upset over something as silly as this, it's not that I don't understand but it does kind of make me wonder what went wrong with this person to get angry over something like that. I'm not saying that it's cool to just say anything to anyone, but I bet most people that call a girl or woman that plays games a gamer girl doesn't mean any offense with it. Somehow some people feel like biting your head off just for saying it though. Gamer girl is an offensive way of saying that a girl or woman likes to play games? I don't think it is, but I'm not a woman so I doubt my opinion really matters here. I would like to say that it's probably better to just call all gamers exactly what they are, gamers. Why make someone a gamer girl? Then you are clearly pointing out that this person is a female. Does that really matter? I don't think it matters because we're all playing games for fun so gender doesn't a...

Movie Monday: Rogue One: A Star Wars story

Rogue One is a bit of a weird movie in the Star Wars universe because it's not numbered (the others all have Roman numerals in them) and there are no jedi in this movie. This seems a bit weird and at times kind of makes you forget that this is a Star Wars movie, but it most definitely is a Star Wars movie and shows the viewers how the plans for the Death Star were stolen. Is that an interesting story? I think it is! Not your typical Star Wars movie? You can say that, especially when you keep in mind that the movie leans more on the lives of ordinary men and women doing something extrodinary. I mean there is no jedi that will carve the way to freedom or an unkillable hero that seems to survive the impossible odds. This is a movie with men and women that believe in something and try to make it happen. But before you get to that point you get some background information for the main protagonist, Jyn Erso, and follow her and some other people before they get to that important missi...

Sinful Sunday: I'm an edgelord? WTF is that?

Has anyone ever accused you of being an edgelord? It really sounded like someone made that up but apparently it's a real word but I think people are calling other people this way too easily. For example I was playing some Overwatch and I was messing up the other team as Reaper, so a guy on that team called me an edgelord. Of course I didn't know what that meant, so I sent a message back with a questionmark. Of course no reply, which doesn't surprise me because people are usually not that talkative online unless they feel like insulting or being toxic. So I had to look it up... WTF is an edgelord? Well that's someone that is edgy. In the description I found online it says that this is someone that cheers for mass murder and have opinions that are strongly nihilistic. So this random person online got this vibe from me after just one match? Clearly people online just say random crap because they're salty or just can't handle the fact that they got beaten. Some ...

Murdered: Soul Suspect is actually a good game?

When I first heard of this game I wasn't interested, when the game launched I wasn't interested and when it was free to download on Xboxlive I wasn't really interested. But I decided to download the game anyway and decided to play it finally just a week ago. Well I have to admit that I was wrong, Murdered: Soul Suspect is actually a good game! You're a ghost? You could say that, I mean I'm not expert on this subject but it looks like you're a ghost or at least a soul trapped on Earth. At the start of the game, big spoiler...oh wait it's not, your character is murdered by a serial killer and you can't cross over to the other side because you got some unfinished business. That unfinished business is catching the serial killer that has murdered several young women and now also your character. So you enter a different world, some type of shadow world, where you can possess people (you can influence their minds) and even move things. You should keep in mi...

YouTube adventures part -44- Reaction videos are lame?

Have you ever tried to look up a trailer for a movie, game or something else and couldn't find anything in the large amount of reaction videos of that trailer? I understand that some people want to share their thoughts but sometimes it just feels that people are trying to put themselves in the spotlight for no other reason but attention. Maybe I'm missing something but I can't help but think that... Reaction videos are lame! It's so frustrating when you try to find a trailer and just can't find anything because of all the reaction videos, these are very easy to recognize because the majority of these reaction videos has the face of the YouTuber in the thumbnail that shows his or her reaction. I understand that some people might find this interesting, but honestly watching a video of someone reacting to the trailer you want to see just seems lame to me. I just want to see the trailer, not the reaction of some random person I don't know! So this made me curi...

Mass Effect Andromeda release date, it's so close!

The long wait is almost over! Mass Effect Andromeda will release on the 21st of March in North Amercia and the 23rd of March in the rest of the world. This means we only have to wait a little bit longer before we can finally play this game! But is it worth the long wait and will the game truly be released on this date or will there be another delay? Is Mass Effect Andromeda worth the long wait? It's difficult to say because I've never played the game, but from what I've seen I must admit that the game looks very impressive! But some people have trust issues when it comes to Mass Effect because who can forget the terrible ending of Mass Effect 3? Hopefully Bioware has learned something from that and makes Mass Effect Andromeda truly a game worth the wait. It all looks cool and very good even, but it still remains to be seen how cool and good the game is actually going to be. Some die hard fans have been following this game almost every day and can probably tell you more ...

Losing streaks in games, myth or real?

Have you ever played online multiplayer? Then you might have had the pleasure of getting stuck in a losing streak, this means that no matter what you do you just can't seem to win any matches. Not only is this incredibly lame it's also very frustrating! But is there really such a thing as a losing streak or is it just bad luck? Losing streaks are real? If you think that losing streaks are just a myth then you clearly haven't been in a losing streak, because no matter what it is you do you just lose. You can join other teams, you can play at different hours and you can play with whatever character or loadout but you will still lose. Now I'm not saying that some almighty being is making certain that you lose every game you play but I do think that once you hit a certain negative spiral of failure it can be difficult to escape because you pretty much give up after some time. A losing streak really takes away all the fun and motivation for you to play the game, so why...

Game tip: State of Decay (for Xboxlive gold members)

If you have Xboxlive and you're a gold member then you can buy State of Decay for 12 Euros and get all the dlc with it. This means you got some zombie killing, post apocalypse survival and a lot of fun all in one! Sure the game is from 2015 but that doesn't make it a bad game, this is one of the best zombie games out there in my opinion! This is a zombie survival game? You could say that, especially when you think about the fact that your character can die and when he or she dies he or she stays dead and you will have to play with another survivor. So it's smart to keep everyone healthy! The moment you're hurt (you take a lot of damage) or you're tired (you've been playing as the same character for a long time) then it's a smart idea to swap to another character. Besides it's a good thing to have more than one strong, fast and smart character. You need to find supplies to keep your community happy, because when people get unhappy your morale drops ...

Why is everyone so angry? (in games)

Have you noticed how a lot of people are negative and sometimes even hostile towards you for no real reason at all? You could say that this is the risk of playing online competitive multiplayer but that doesn't give you the right to be a douchebag to others. Unfortunately some people are just in a bad mood or get mad easily, somehow there is always someone to blame and that someone is always someone else. Online competitive multiplayer is full of angry gamers? Sometimes it feels that way, especially when you play ranked mode and people get even more serious. I can understand frustration and sometimes you do get the feeling like someone in your team is deliberately throwing the game. Wether that's because this person keeps dying and getting no kills or because this person is just completely ignoring the objective and attacks the enemy team on his or her own. It's easy to get mad and even easier to point the finger to others, but you should never overlook yourself. Did ...

What does 2017 bring for gamers?

Happy New Year everyone! We're at the start of a new year and hopefully it's going to be a good year for gamers! But I have no doubts about that considering that we have a lot of interesting titles already announced and who knows how many more there will be during the year. So 2017 will be a good year for gamers? I think it's a bit early to say that but a lot of interesting games have been announced. Some of these games I already played, for example Resident Evil 7, and from others I have seen some cool gameplay videos, for example Mass Effect Andromeda, which make me believe that 2017 will be a good year for gamers. But those two games are just some of the many games I think will be worth checking out. Other games you might want to keep an eye on are: For honor, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Agents of mayhem, Cuphead, Friday the 13th: the game, God of War, Kingdom Hearts 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Scalebound, State of decay 2 and Vampyr. I'm probably forgetting some ga...
