The Elder Scrolls Online (single player experience)
Yes I know that the Elder Scrolls Online is a great way to play with others and go on quests together, but what if you prefer to play solo like me? Then you're going to be ok because the Elder Scrolls Online is quite playable solo. Sure some enemies might be a bit tougher to beat but with some many quests to choose from you can always switch to another quest and pick the quest you had trouble with later when you're a higher level. It's definitely not needed to team up, maybe in the long run that keeps the game alive longer but I don't think you're forced to do that at any point.
Who are you in the game?
You start in some type of prison, except this is no normal prison as it's a place of torture and death! It seems you've been killed in a sacrifice and now your soul is stuck in a place where you'll go insane if you don't escape. To keep a long story short, you escape and you're alive (kind of I guess) again. Before you started you could pick your race (in the unlimited version of the game it doesn't matter which race you pick because you can join every alliance as every race), your alliance and your class. You also get some nice customization options so no need to worry about that. You can also pick a voice for your character but that's just for the emotes and combat noises. So depending on which alliance you picked you'll start in that area, I started in Daggerfall because I chose the Daggerfall Covenant. It's then up to you what you want to do, you can explore but you can also decide to do quests or even learn some professions.
Is the game big?
Yes the game is big! Just the Daggerfall area alone is already big, that's just one part of a bigger whole and realizing that the game really starts for you once you reach level 50 then you can imagine that there needs to be a lot out there that allows you to level up that far. At first leveling goes pretty quickly but it's important that you keep yourself busy, complete quests and learn new skills to keep rising through the levels because you don't want to find yourself in an area with high level enemies and you stuck in the middle. But you do have quick travel, if you unlock shrines (just by walking towards them) you can fast travel to those so you don't have to run all over the map. With mounts you can travel even faster so it's not that you spend hours on getting from point A to point B.
Is it easy to play solo?
It might be a bit tricky in certain areas, but usually other players aren't that far away so in tough areas you'll often find others doing the same quest and then together you can beat the enemies. Otherwise just wait with that quest. You can see how difficult a quest is by the colour of the quest in the top right corner of the screen. White is around your level, green is below your level, yellow above your level and orange is probably too difficult for you (at least solo). There might even be a red version but that would be insane to do that quest solo, I'd say stick around white and yellow and you should be fine and if you want to play it safe you could also go for green because you still get nice rewards and experience for completing quests. Don't feel bad if you don't want to team up, the Elder Scrolls Online is quite playable solo and there is a lot to do! So I hope you don't have anything else to do because you'll be busy for quite some time!
