Final Fantasy VII remake!

I must admit that this didn't come as a big surprise, there were rumors for a long time and somehow I just knew they would do it. But at the same time it also felt like wishful thinking, sometimes you want something so badly that you believe that it's going to happen. I guess with Final Fantasy VII it was tricky to say that they would make a remake. It makes sense knowing that it's a popular game and a lot of people have asked for a remake, at the same time making a remake of one of their older games isn't really what Square Enix does so it did feel like it wasn't going to happen. But guess what? The Final Fantasy VII remake is coming!


Are people really interested in a remake of FF VII?


I think so, just look at the amount of people that played FF VII and enjoyed the games that came after that. Of course not every FF VII game was as good as the first, for example Dirge of Cerberus (when you play as Vincent Valentine) isn't one of the best games out there but I think for the die hard fans it was more fun with the characters they know and love. So that's how you can see this remake, more time with the characters you know and hopefully that leads to more fun!


So it's the same game but with fancy graphics?


That's my guess, but it's possible that the developers change a couple of things. Look at the remake of Resident Evil, it wasn't exactly the same as the original game and yet a lot of people like the remake even more because of the new things added to the game. So it's definitely not a bad thing if they change things, at least up to the point that it's acceptable because a remake doesn't mean let's change everything. At least I certainly it doesn't mean that. But from the small glimpses I saw I have a good feeling about this game, definitely worth keeping an eye on!


Does this mean that there will be more FF remakes?


I don't know, it's possible but FF VII is one of the most popular games from the FF series so it's possible that the developers made an exception for this game. But I wouldn't object to see a FF VIII remake or FF X remake. If there are enough people asking for it then the developers might be tempted to do it, but I'd still say that there's a small chance that there will be more remakes coming any time soon for Final Fantasy games. Let's first enjoy playing FF VII again!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
