Fallout 4 will be the game of the year?

For some time I thought that Metal Gear Solid 5 would be the game of the year and then there's Fallout 4 showing an amazing open world with a customizable character and you get a dog and you can build your own base and you can do so much more in this amazing game! Ok maybe Fallout 4 won't be the game of the year but it still looks impressive!

You and your dog against the world?

Now that brings back some nice Fable 2 and 3 memories! Except this time it's in a post apocalyptic open world, which might not sound cool but it is. Early on you will meet a dog, it's up to you if you want to travel with the dog or not. But I think a lot of people would want to travel with the dog, because first of all dogs are cool and second the dog helps you in a fight and can get things for you. You can command your dog and that gives you some new gameplay to mess around with, but I'm certain that most of the fighting is still reserved for yourself. You also don't have to worry about your dog, apparently your dog can't die so that's a big relief. Unless they pull a Fable 2 trick, well I won't spoil anything but that would suck!

Customizing your own character?

I've mentioned this before but what I didn't know earlier is that you can customize both the male and the female character. The game will then create the baby for you depending on the looks you've chosen for both the male and female character. The character customization is quite detailed and gives you a lot of detailed options to mess around with. Afterwards you decide if you want to play as the male or as the female character. Apparently you're the sole survivor of Vault 111 so what happens to the other character and your baby is unknown, but hopefully they're ok.

Building your own base?

This seems strange but you can build your own base, you do that with almost all the stuff you find in the wasteland. Nothing is useless anymore, you can build your own house and other houses with most of the stuff you find. This gives you the chance to let your creative building skills to go wild and create a fantastic base that will have to protect you and eventually other people that want to live there as well. The better your base is the more people will want to live in it, but that also attracts raiders that want to destroy it. So you also have to build some good defenses if you want your base to be safe! You can make more than one base and travel between them with a type of helicopter or create a trade caravan to supply your base with certain items or food. But this is all optional, if you don't like building a base then you don't have to do it and just focus on exploring and/or playing missions.

Creating your own weapons?

As if it's not enough that you can create your own base, now you can also create your own weapons. For example you find a blaster pistol but then with upgrades (that you create with items you find in the wasteland) you can upgrade that blaster pistol into a blaster rifle or even a sniper rifle. Some weapons might look weird but they're powerful, for example a teddybear launcher shot the head of a raider with one shot so you might want to take it seriously...well at least a bit.

Your character speaks?

Yes he or she has a voice now, so no more mute hero moments in Fallout 4! I already hinted towards this after seeing the reveal trailer and it's true! Your character has a voice and it gives you optional choices in conversations like it did in the Mass Effect games. Which leads to different responses and hopefully multiple unique playthroughs. Maybe some people feel less connected to their character when he or she has his or her own voice, but I think it's great that your character now has his or her own voice!

Best game ever?

Well it's too early to say that but Fallout 4 is now definitely at the top of my list of most wanted games, the best part is that the game will launch this year on the 10th of November! So that's less than 5 months away! I get a feeling that Bethesda has more to show and more to tell about Fallout 4, but with the information I have now I'm already very excited about this game!
