Destiny: Prison of Elders needs matchmaking, now!
Of course there is one arena where you get matchmaking, but that's only useful for getting Vanguard marks quickly. If you want an armor core (to buy the best legendary armor), a weapon core (to buy some interesting looking legendary weapons) or ethereal light (to upgrade lower level legendary armor and weapons to the highest level) then you need to form your own team and you can't get it if you can't form a team. Which means up to this point that about half the people are stuck at level 32 and can't reach a higher level.
Why does the Prison of Elders needs matchmaking?
Because people are stuck on level 32, they try to form teams online but I'm certain a lot of people are still having trouble forming teams. It's ridiculous that Bungie gives you matchmaking in the first arena and then no matchmaking in the other arenas. In a way you only get half the dlc if you can't form a team in the House of Wolves dlc, because you can't play the Prison of Elders and/or the Trials of Osiris and you won't be able to reach the maximum level (34) or even level 33 for that matter. I understand that Bungie leaves matchmaking out of the Trials of Osiris, but the Prison of Elders desperately needs it and it needs to happen soon before the game will bleed dry.
People will abandon Destiny?
I think so, because if you're just like me stuck on level 32 then what's the point of playing at this point? You can't reach a higher level and getting new gear doesn't help either because it won't get you to a higher level. At this point all you can do is collect weapons and armor you can get, but that gets old real fast! So why stay in a game that treats you like this? Well maybe you're a die hard fan and can't abandon the game or you're an optimist that thinks things will improve soon but I bet a lot of people are done with Destiny at this point.
But matchmaking will fix that?
Yes, if people can at least reach a higher level then they have something to work for. They don't run aimlessly around in Destiny but they have a goal. At this point people know they can't get past level 32 unless they can form a team to play the level 32 arena in the Prison of Elders or form a team to play the Trials of Osiris to unlock some high level legendary armor there. No matter how much fun a game is, when you're stuck it's no longer fun and it's only a matter of time until you move on. I don't know about you but there are some cool games coming out this month and if Destiny keeps this up then it wouldn't surprise me that a lot of people will move on to one of those games.
