Sinful Sunday: A true gamer?

Have you ever heard someone talk about true gamers? It´s quite ridiculous to be honest because some people claim that not everyone that plays games is a gamer, somehow there are true gamers and wannabes. Where the fuck did this come from? I remember a time when it wasn´t cool to play games and yet we played games because it´s fun, there wasn´t a need to prove yourself and more likely than not you didn´t even talk about games with others because it wasn´t considered as a cool hobby. But now there is a thing called being a true gamer, probably invented by some sad sack of shit that thinks that he or she is special or some douchebag that looks down on others because they play something else than he or she.


Is true gamer the same as that PC master race bullshit? No that is something else, usually brought up by a pathetic loser that thinks that he or she is special because they have a PC instead of a console. Guess what? I have a PC and I have consoles, I don´t feel more special playing games one of these, I have fun playing games on all consoles and on my PC. Because I play games for fun, not to be a part of some sad club of idiots that think they´re special because of the PC or console they play games on. Which also means that console wars are just as stupid, in a way a lot of gamers these days are stupid. Not just for starting these ´wars´ but also to spend more time discussing this type of nonsense instead of actually playing games, something a ´true´ gamer would do!


It´s shit like this that makes me want to play more and more single player games and have nothing to do with other people that also play games. Which is a shame to be honest because when I first started to play online multiplayer I wanted to meet other people that enjoyed playing games just like me. It seemed like fun to meet these people and hopefully make some new friends, but I´m ten years further now and things turned pretty much to shit. Random lobbies are usually full of people that are annoying to say the least and the small chance that you actually meet decent people is often snuffed out by the large amount of gamers out there that see it as their mission to ruin the fun of others. Which actually makes me wonder why some people bother playing online multiplayer with random strangers. I think the best chance to meet like minded people is on a site and get to know people, if you get along then hopefully you have fun playing games together. No guarantees though...


There is no such thing as a true gamer, one person isn´t better than the other because they play on a PC or because their console is more popular. Hell there was a time and a place that playing games wasn´t popular, people would kick your ass just to play games. But now it´s cool to play games, somehow someone or something decided that playing games is cool but once again with restrictions because why the fuck could we all get along and have fun together? No it´s much more fun to be an asshole and act like on to others just for having another interest than you when it comes to playing games. So when someone say that he or she enjoys playing handheld games then it usually doesn´t take long for some asshole to appear and claim that these people aren´t true gamers, as if there is some type of standard that makes you one. Honestly I feel like a lot of people become more dumb every year while tests have proven that gamers are a bit smarter than people that don´t play games, so that means that people that talk shit aren´t true gamers? Well that´s something to think about in another life, I think I´d rather play games and let sad sacks of shit talk bollocks while no one really cares what they have to say!
