CoD Advanced Warfare (exo survival)
Exo survival is pretty much the same survival as you remember (probably) from Modern Warfare 3, but now you have your exo abilities and the enemies that try to kill you also have these abilities. You have to survive for 25 rounds and then the map flips, which means that you start over from round one but you keep all the stuff you unlocked and the enemies will be a bit tougher this time! But is this really a mode that you´ll play a lot or just to unlock the zombie bonus round?
I have to admit that I´ve been playing this a lot just to unlock the tier 4 map (Riot) where you have the zombie bonus round (after 10 waves you get a zombie round and you have to hold out for a moment and then escape). It doesn´t even last that long but seeing how extreme that can get it wouldn´t surprise me that a lot of people are excited about it, especially now that it´s a fact that there will be more zombies in future dlc, not as a bonus round but as a separate mode.
So only the zombies make it fun? It´s still fun, I mean it´s a type of challenge and it gives you some bragging rights but I have the problem to get bored quickly with these type of games (especially when I play solo) and every round is starting to look the same after some time. Mistakes will be punished and if you die twice it´s already game over, so the game is unforgiving when it comes to making some mistakes. This does make the game a bit more interesting, because you´ll have to do your best to survive!
You can play as a light exo, heavy exo or specialist exo soldier. As a light exo you can only use your smg and assault rifle, you´re also a bit weaker (you die easier when you take damage) but you also move a lot faster and you have all the exo movement boosts. A heavy exo can only use heavy weapons and pistols (the other two classes can also use pistols), you also move a lot slower and you only have your boost jump. This makes it a lot harder to collect dogtags and defuse all the bombs while dealing with the enemies, but you´re a lot tougher and you can take a lot more damage! The specialist exo can only use shotguns and sniper rifles, which isn´t really how you want to play, but it´s the most ideal exo because you move at normal speed and take more damage before you´re dead (compared to the light exo). Later you can get a perk that will allow you to use all weapons with your type of exo (I think the name of the perk is weapons free). Each exo class also gets a score streak reward that recharges over time. Light gets the UAV, heavy the heavy mech suit and specialist gets a turret.
There are two power stations that allow you to improve or change your loadout. One is for weapons and grenades while the other is for exo abilities. The weapon station will be more important at first because you start to unlock important stuff at the exo station at round 5 (after each round you get points you can spend there). The weapon station also allows you to add attachments to your weapons (not more than three though), so pick something good! The exo station will make your weapon more powerful and your armor stronger, which is quite useful if you want to survive longer than 10 rounds! You can also change your exo ability and even improve your score streaks if you want! You´ll get a supply drop every now and then if you get enough points, this allows you to get new perks and score streaks. You can also unlock new gear and eventually a new character (zombie) for your operator if you play enough exo survival.
What´s the key to survive? Find a good spot to defend and hold out for as long as you can! Which also means upgrading your armor, weapons and use the bulldog shotgun for close range and using an assault rifle for long range (AK12 is pretty good for that). You play kind of like in the mode Hardpoint (which means defending an area from others that try to take it from you). It helped me survive at least the first 25 rounds and it if you keep paying attention then you should be able to survive another 25 rounds, it´s smart to get out if you get swarmed so make certain that you have an exit strategy! Good luck!
