Destiny more popular than CoD Advanced Warfare?

It seems that Destiny is quite popular and as popular as CoD Advanced Warfare is it doesn´t look like it´s going to beat Destiny. Which is surprising because usually a new CoD game is the most popular game of the year, yes even with all the hate CoD games get. So what happened?


I think it´s safe to say that Destiny was (and maybe still is) riding on a hype train, it´s new and something different but still familiar enough to step in the game world and do your thing. Also the open world and rpg elements make this an amazing game! Eventhough not everyone likes the game, there are a lot of haters, it´s still very popular. CoD Advanced Warfare has to battle not only against Destiny but also the bad reputation that CoD Ghosts was responsible for. A lot of CoD players are disappointed in that game and with that decided to move on, which is weird because CoD Ghosts isn´t really that different from the other games. Oh sure the pick ten system and not dying that quickly in Black Ops 2 is better but it´s still pretty much the same idea.


The glory days of CoD are over? Maybe, I guess these things happen and it wouldn´t surprise me that CoD will have an ending sooner or later. It would be a big shame if that would happen right at the moment that they put something new into the game that could give it a new boost the series could definitely use! I´m still certain that CoD Advanced Warfare will do well, especially once a lot of players have some positive feedback to share with others both online and offline. Because there are a lot of people that are in the wait and see mode. They´re not going to trust that this new CoD will be great, no they wait until they hear positive comments about this game and then they might buy it. I guess CoD Ghosts made a lot of people unhappy and that makes it harder for CoD Advanced Warfare to prove itself, but it´s not impossible!


To be honest I don´t really care about popularity, I buy a game because I think it´s going to be fun to play and that should really be your motivation to play a game. If it´s fun or if you think it will be fun then give it a chance, but if you have a bad feeling about it or you´re not certain then don´t buy it. Never listen to others (especially strangers online, which includes me) to tell you what you should and shouldn´t buy, make up your own mind about what you want to buy or what you don´t want to buy. If I would buy every game that is considered as popular then I´d have a lot of games that I wouldn´t like, just because a game is popular doesn´t make it a good game or a game that you would like! So buy games because you want to buy it and not because some idiot tells you to buy it, make up your own mind and buy what you really want to buy!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
