Destiny gets updates, but will it be for the best?

Do you still play Destiny? If I have to believe the comments under almost every Destiny video or news related item there is no one that plays this game anymore. To be honest I stopped playing myself when CoD Advanced Warfare came out, because I wanted to focus on that and my daily business in Destiny didn´t mix well with trying to unlock achievements in other games. But now there are updates in Destiny, the question is will this make people return to the game and keep gamers that are still playing this game in Destiny?


So what will change? First of all voice chat. Isn´t there already voice chat in Destiny? Correct, but Bungie will put a special channel in Destiny for people that are looking for groups to do strikes or raids with. Something a lot of people are looking for and since a lot of strikes and especially the raid is difficult (if not impossible) to do without a solid group. So hopefully this channel where everyone with a headset can chat with eachother in the game can find like minded players and form groups to do strikes and raids with.


Does this also mean that you can talk with other people in the tower? No you´re unable to talk with random people in the tower via voice chat, which I´m actually happy with because I´m not a big fan of that when I´m just trying to get a bounty or put some items in my vault. Whenever I enter the tower with my level 29 Titan I get a lot of random invites, probably people that want me to join their team to do strikes or raids with. But guess what? They never let me know what they want first, so I never feel like I want to join a random person without first knowing what the plan is and who that person is. So maybe voice chat will change that, but at the same time I don´t need to hear random people talking to me when I just try to get bounties or check out my vault in the tower. So I can´t say I´m a big fan of voice chat in the tower, from random people, but I can see how this is fun for some people.


What else will change? Well there will be more shaders (to colour your armor with, in case you don´t know what a shader is) and everything will be prepared for the first dlc that will be available early December. I don´t know if this will be enough to keep people in Destiny or for people to return to Destiny, it´s a fun game but after a month and a half I´m just looking for something new. Maybe the dlc will be fun to play but I think I´ll be too busy playing Dragon Age: Inquisition to think about the dlc!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. Hack and slash vs turn based games

This might not suprise you but I´ve always been a fan of some mindless slaughter in games, it´s the perfect way of blowing off some steam and relaxing. At least for me. It doesn´t take a great mind to figure out the controls and even if you just press random buttons you´ll probably make it pretty far in those games. But these type of games aren´t meant for thinking everything through, here you just go in and kill every enemy you face. But then I played Final Fantasy VII, what a game that is! From the moment I saw the opening cinematic to the point where I saw the credits I enjoyed playing that game. But it´s a timed turn based game, which means that the members of your team fight in turns and you´ll have to hurry because while you´re busy with selecting what type of attack or action you want to make with your character you´re also under attack from enemies that can disrupt your strategy.
