CoD Advanced Warfare (multiplayer)
Have you played some multiplayer matches in CoD AW? What a stupid question, of course you have! So what do you think, is it everything you always wanted or is it something you don´t like? A lot of people are excited about it but I´m not a lot of people, so let´s take a closer look at it and hopefully it´s just as good as so many people say it is.
Do the new abilities completely change multiplayer? Not as much as you might think, because a lot of people still camp and dropshots are also nothing new. So in a way a lot of people are still behaving like the annoying assholes as I remember in previous CoD games. Some actually take advantage from their new abilities and pick higher spots to camp on (rooftop campers, it´s nothing new though if you played Assassin´s Creed multiplayer). Exo abilities are used but not as much as you might think, I don´t see many people go invisible and I´ve never seen anyone use hover. Stim is a bit more popular, it gives you some extra health and it´s a good way to heal quickly, unfortunately you also run out of this power very quickly! So the new abilities have influenced multiplayer but to call it completely different would be a lie, so many people stay on the ground or hardly move at all. Which means that they could´ve played any other CoD game for that type of gameplay.
So multiplayer sucks? Oh I´m not saying that, it´s just a bit disappointing (eventhough I had my suspicions how multiplayer would be in CoD AW) that a lot of people still play almost exactly the same way as they did before, which really keeps the game stuck in the past and not moving to something new. Some people say that most people just need to get used to this new game, but I doubt it will ever be like that because if someone is succesful with how they play now then why would they change and risk losing? You see a lot of people in competitive multiplayer want to win, even if that means sitting in a corner the entire match, and all the fancy abilities won´t change that. The moment I entered multiplayer I jumped on buildings and was sliding around, of course that got me killed a lot but at least I had fun doing something new. I guess that´s the problem, the clash between people who are stuck in the past and people that want to move on and play this new multiplayer as it´s meant to be played!
The weapons and abilities are good, some are of course better than others and you often figure that out quite fast because the wrong loadout will get you killed a lot. Talking about loadouts, the pick 13 system is fantastic and allows people not just just pick their gear but also their score streaks and leave them out so you have more room for extra gear if you want to! This is great for people that die a lot and want to get more attachments for their guns or extra perks. You can also customize your character, it´s just one character (and not ten different characters as in CoD Ghosts) and you have a limited amount of items at first. But the more you play the more stuff you unlock, you can also earn supply crates (for example by completing challenges or progress in single player) that allows you to get new gear. And yes you can also play as a woman in this game, which is nice for all the female gamers or guys that prefer to play as a woman.
Is this the best multiplayer in a CoD game? To be honest I haven´t played all CoD games so I couldn´t really answer that, but I can say that it´s refreshing and it´s pretty quick which is nice. I think if you actually get good with your new abilities that you can destroy others in multiplayer, even if they´re camping or staying on the ground. Practice makes perfect and this game offers you a lot, it´s also a lot to sink in and it might take some time before you´re actually comfortable with your new abilities. But I think it´s worth checking out, maybe it´s not the best multiplayer but it´s definitely fun and if you´re desperately looking for something new then this game offers it to you. For anyone that says that this game is just like Titanfall then you must really point out the titans to me because I haven´t seen them! Also there is no wall running, so I can´t say that this game is just like Titanfall and anyone with at least half a brain would say the same. For anyone that hasn´t played CoD AW I would definitely advice you to check it out, it might take a moment for you to get used to it but it´s fun and it should keep you busy for some time. You also level up pretty fast so that´s nice as well, it feels a bit less like grinding and more like having a good time doing something fun!
