Looking back at.....Silent Hill 2!

Of all the Silent Hill games this is probably my favourite, because it took all the creepy shit from the first game and added some more just to make certain that you wouldn´t feel comfortable playing this game. But of course also one of the first bosses I met in a game that couldn´t be killed! Sure you could beat him but he would always come back, just hearing the noise of metal scraping on the ground still makes me feel uncomfortable!

Same town different story? That pretty much sums it up, eventhough you don´t go to the area of the first game, you´re now in another part of town where things are just as fucked up as in the part you explored in the first country. You play as James Sunderland that is looking for his dead wife, yes you read that right his dead wife. He got a letter from his dead wife in which she asks him to go to Silent Hill to meet her. Any normal person would´ve just ignored that but not James, he goes to Silent Hill and meets monsters...and Maria. Who´s Maria? Maria is a woman that looks almost exactly like his dead wife Mary, but Maria has a different personality (she´s more outgoing and definitely not a gray mouse) and you´ll have to deal with this personality sometimes. You also meet other people that seem to have found their way to Silent Hill, it´s unclear at first why they´re there but the more you learn the more you realize that it´s a trap!

So a boss you can´t kill? Yes, Pyramid Head is a boss in Silent Hill 2 that can´t really be killed as he will appear in the game even after you beat him for the first time. He also seems to walk around so if you´re unlucky you might actually even run into him in the apartment building! The game can be confusing sometimes but if you pay attention and actually read some of the notes you get an idea what happened and why James is there. The game has multiple endings so make certain to play the games multiple times to get an ending you would like because sometimes the endings will suck.

Should you play this game? I can definitely recommend it! It´s a tragic story that kicks you in the balls at certain times but you keep playing just to find answers and hopefully find some closure for James, but Silent Hill isn´t the right town for that so be prepared to find a lot of questions and monsters! It´s creepy and fun to play, a weird combination but if you´re into survival horror games then this is something you don´t want to miss out on!
