Was 2017 a good year for gamers?

I think it was, mostly because of the amount of fun games that we could play. Of course not every game that launched was good and there are definitely games I didn't like but that still makes 2017 one of the best years for me as a gamer. It was also a year where I tried different games and kind of went away from my typical shooter and survival horror type of games into different games. Which is something I can recommend, just playing the same type of games all the time is boring and honestly you're missing out! This year gave us a lot of games? Absolutely! Already starting in January with Resident Evil 7 and even in moments of the year when I didn't expect any fun games to launch we got some nice titles in Summer as well. For example Fortnite was a fun game at first and I definitely enjoyed playing that game in July and August. It's just a shame that some games become worse over time, probably not just because of the game but also because of the community or the lac...

YouTube adventures -90- Knowing when to stop

All things come to an end, nothing lasts forever. At least that's what I've been told and in this case it's true, I quitting with YouTube and not truly because I want to but more because I have to. Oh nothing bad has happened here but I have no means to record anything and investing money into recording equipment isn't going to be cheap. Right now I prefer to focus on just playing games and having fun with that. But that doesn't mean that I'll never make another video. For now it's just better to move on with things and leave things as they are. Sometimes you just... Know when to stop. It was an unexpected pleasure to make videos. I didn't really know what to think at first, I wasn't hoping for money or fame but more just to have fun and I think I succeeded with that. Most of my videos were made with fun, sometimes even the rage videos turned out to be funny for me because hearing myself rant about random things is just silly. But I also made sev...

The most disappointing games of 2017

We're almost at the end of the year so it's time to look back at all the games that launched in 2017 and of course look at games that are fun to play and those that weren't that fun to play. First I wanted to take a look at the most disappointing games of 2017. These are games that I find disappointing, so it's my opinion and I don't want to state that as a fact. But it wouldn't surprise me if more people didn't like these games that much. For Honor. For Honor is a game that looked so promising and when I played the beta it was actually quite fun to play, but somehow the main game never really interested me that much. The campaign was too short in my opinion and the gameplay not exactly as good as I was hoping for. Too many times I would hit enemies and it wouldn't damage them, they would hit me through a wall or around a corner and then there would be moments where you get hit while enemies aren't within melee range. Enough reason to be frustrat...

I love Monday: It's a good time to be a gamer

I know that I usually talk about things I hate on Monday but because it's Christmas I can't be that negative, so I give this Monday a special theme of talking about what I love. So what do I love? Well I love playing games, obviously. But what is so good about playing games and why is it such a good time to be a gamer right now? Well let's find out! Games are getting better and better? There are unfortunately some exceptions but when you look at games in general then you can see that things are getting better. The graphics, gameplay, stories, character development and all the things you can do in these games. Some say that this isn't true, that stories suffer under all the action the developers try to shove into the newest games. But in truth it's not that bad, sure there are games that are disappearing into the action packed themes but you can't expect everyone to love a game that is full of conversations and hardly has any action. So it's a good thing ...

Sinful Sunday: I just want to win!

A lot of times when I play a single player or multiplayer game I have this strong desire to win. Not that I truly care about winning that much but often because of the reward(s) you get when you win. Because let's be honest you often get more experience, better rewards and sometimes even achievements or trophies when you win. So winning definitely has a lot of perks. Unfortunately you can't win all the time and when you play a game there is always a good chance that you lose. Especially when you have to work in a team of other players that have no intention of winning or doing much towards trying to win. You need to win? I often feel that urge that I need to win because I want to get the rewards for winning. For example in Overwatch for the loot boxes each week, in CoD WW 2 to complete orders so I can earn a loot box or in Fortnite so I keep the progress I made in the match (if you lose then you don't keep the progress you made towards an objective). Winning is importan...

Going back to old(er) games?

Whenever I have a moment of no new games or I'm kind of tired of playing the latest games I like to go back to some older games I played. This could be a game that is just a couple of years old and sometimes it's a game than is more than a decade old. Unfortunately with old(er) games it often requires the right console unless you have backwards compatibility or your pc can run the game without any issues. I love playing old(er) games around Christmas, it's a time of nostalgia for me so it makes sense to play some of the games I played before. Never throw away or sell your old games? Well never say never because if you would hold on to every game you ever bought then you might be running out of space sooner or later. But games you like to play so much are worth holding on to. Sometimes you get lucky and a game gets a remastered edition or if you're truly lucky a remake. Resident Evil is a good example of that and it's absolutely worth playing even twenty years af...

YouTube adventures -89- Is YouTube still worth all the trouble?

It used to be such a fun thing, making videos and post them on YouTube. Of course you couldn't show everything and that makes sense. I mean videos of naked people, wether it's in a game or real it's all forbidden, and 'prank' videos where you actually end up hurting people for real aren't the type of videos I would make nor do I want to watch them. But lately it seems like hardly anything is allowed anymore. I mean a character only needs to show a shoulder and immediately there are alarm bells going off in YouTube headquarters it seems or if there is five seconds of a song heard in a video and you already seem to get a strike. I don't know about you but that seems like bullshit! So I can't help but wonder... Is YouTube still worth all the trouble? I'm a very outspoken person, when I'm annoyed or just feel like saying something bad then I will say it. We have that freedom here in my country and that's a great thing. I hate how YouTube is t...

A bad ending ruins the entire game?

Is there anything worse than having a terrible ending to a game you love? Ok there are worse things but this is pretty bad as well. I honestly hate it when you play through an entire game and it just disappoints you at the end. It's like you got slapped in the face after a romantic evening with someone. It hurts, a lot! A bad ending ruins the entire game? I think it does because when you put so much time and effort into a game and to only see it fall apart at the end hurts. Just look at Mass Effect 3. I know this is a game that has been discussed a lot and I also know some people do like the ending. But for me it was such a rough experience because I put so much time and effort in all three games and to see it end like that. It felt like an insult to me, for having spend so much time in the game and then have no ending I was happy with. I understand there are different endings but to have each outcome be so much close to the other and pretty much coming down to the same conclus...

What makes people turn into assholes when playing a game?

You might notice it when you play a game with other people, this one person that just has to annoy other people. For some reason this person can't play the game without being an asshole to the other players. Wether this is done with a mic or actions in the game it's really annoying having to play with these type of people. But when you play with random people there always seems to be one of these people around, that asshole that just has to be annoying. Why? Honestly? I don't know, I guess some people are just assholes and there isn't much you can do about it...unfortunately. What makes people turn into assholes when playing a game? I would like to know myself because everytime when I play a game where you have to work together as a team there is always this one person that wants to screw the team over and just be this annoying douchebag that tries to ruin the fun for others. It could just be my terrible luck of constantly being teamed up with these type of assholes...

I hate Monday: When that one moment in a game (almost) ruins everything!

It's fun to play games and eventhough almost every game has moments that are less fun it's hardly ever something that makes you want to rage quit. Unfortunately there are some games that will frustrate you so much that rage quitting seems like the only escape from that torture. Sometimes this is just one moment in the game but that one moment can ruin everything! One bad moment in the game ruins everything? It might seem ridiculous but I've seen this multiple times in games where I was enjoying the game or at least I wasn't annoyed with it and then that moment happens where you go through a load of bullshit because the game is broken at that point or it's just a very frustrating experience. No matter how much fun that game might be it's that one moment that can ruin your fun with ease. Because if you keep failing, keep having to go through the same cutscene that you can't skip and keep having to hear the taunts or commentary from a character in the game ...

Sinful Sunday: Shaming another player for lack of money

You've probably read and maybe even heard some players talk about this. When someone asks for some free dlc or complains that the price for a game or dlc is too high there are often people who will comment on this and say that this person should get a job. As much as you might think that these people are right to say that I do think it's a bit blunt to say the least and you don't know the situation of this person. So to say something like that isn't just rude but also dumb, because what if this person has a job and can just barely pay the bills? I think it's only natural that you then look for good deals with games and dlc. Gaming is an expensive hobby? Unfortunately it is, probably one of the most expensive hobbies if you play a lot of different games on multiple consoles. It can easily take a big chunk of your money away each month if you're not careful and it's easy to spend a small fortune on gaming if you're not careful. I try not to go too craz...

Playing as a female character in a game?

When I first started playing games I hated that, I honestly didn't want to play as a female character. I remember this one moment in Super Mario Bros 2 where I picked Peach and I hated every moment of it. But over the years I did try out some female characters, I think the first time I was really curious about playing as a female character was in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. I couldn't help but wonder how different the story would be if your character was a woman and how the other characters would respond to you. Well that turned out to be not that interesting but I didn't care that much anymore about what kind of character you play as in a game. As long as the story is good and the characters are interesting then I can't really complain. You prefer to play as a female character? No, I don't mind playing as a female character but I would always pick a male character over a female character. Not that there is anything wrong with playing as a female char...

YouTube adventures -88- Running out of ideas?

I've heard this so many times when I look at popular channels, the YouTuber(s) gets accused of running out of ideas and falling into repetition. I can say for certain that I've most likely repeated myself over the years. I've talked about the same subject multiple times and I probably have said the exact same thing in multiple posts. Is that a bad thing? It depends, I think it's impossible to be a 100% original for your entire YouTube career and sometimes you do fall into repetition or hit subjects that aren't going to be that interesting for some people. But does that truly mean that you're... Running out of ideas? It's not a crime to repeat yourself but for a viewer it can be annoying if you end up repeating yourself. I mean who wants to see the exact same thing multiple times? Oh there might be people who don't mind but I honestly doubt that people want to see the same thing over and over again. If someone would like that then they can just click ...

Game trailers that bring shivers down your spine!

Do you remember the trailer you saw that brought shivers down your spine? You know the one I'm talking about, the trailer that made you want to buy the game no matter what! This is usually not a good idea, I mean you first should check the gameplay and see if this game is interesting. But it was this cinematic trailer that just blew you away and made you want to buy it anyway. This trailer that just took away any doubts you had and gave you such a epic feeling of awesomeness that you just had to buy that game. That's the type of trailer I'm talking about! Game trailers sell games? You might not believe it but it's true. Some people like certain trailers so much that one look at these, I say one but you can bet your ass on it that people watch these trailers multiple times, and they just have to buy the game. There is no question about it, you just need this game in your life. This is what happened to me when I saw the sacred ashes trailer of Dragon Age Origins. Such...

Multiplayer is changing?

When I first started with online competitive multiplayer I was thrilled, to be able to play against other people and just have fun was a great thing or at least that's what I thought. For the first couple of years that wsa actually true, I did enjoy playing multiplayer and things were good. Sometimes you had some frustrating encounters, for example cheaters or try hards, but nothing that made me want to quit. But now more than a decade later I can't say that I feel the same anymore, multiplayer is just not as much fun as it used to be and now with battle royale getting more popular I can't help but feel like multiplayer isn't for me anymore. It has changed and it keeps changing and not for the best in my opinion. Multiplayer has changed or have players changed? Maybe both? Whenever you look at a streamer then there's a good chance that he or she is playing PUBG or Fortnite Battle Royale. Why? Because apparently the majority of the viewers wants to see that and I...

Death Stranding, WTF is this?!!!

You might have already seen the teaser trailers and those didn't make a lot of sense and now with the long trailer which is actually a cutscene from the game it still doesn't make any sense to me. Either Hideo Kojima is a genius and we just don't understand or he's the biggest prankster and we're all trying to figure something out that isn't meant to be figured out. Either way it's definitely a game you want to keep an eye on. Death Stranding is about protecting babies? If you look at the trailer and also the previous teaser trailer then you notice the baby and how the baby is being protected. Which doesn't seem that weird when you think about it, I mean you protect a baby because under normal circumstances a baby doesn't have the ability to protect himself or herself. But these babies seem to be a bit different, not only are they living in a tube that the soldiers/scientists are carrying around but at the end of the trailer/cutscene the baby see...

I hate Monday: Secret achievements and hidden trophies

By now it's probably not a secret that I like to unlock some achievements, I wouldn't say that I would do anything to unlock them but if I see an opportunity to unlock one then I don't want to miss it. The good thing about achievements and trophies is that they're listed and you often know exactly what you need to do to unlock them. Unless it's a secret achievement or hidden trophy, then you're on your own... Secret achievements and hidden trophies suck? Yeah they absoultely do! No matter if you play on yoru Xbox One or Playstation 4 we all have to deal with these stupid things sooner or later. Unless you really don't care about achievements and trophies. But if you try to unlock as many achievements and/or trophies then these secret and hidden version are going to make your life miserable because you don't know how to unlock them. Sometimes they're story progression achievements and trophies, so you unlock them when you continue with the story b...

Sinful Sunday: Saying things you don't really mean

When you're angry or frustrated you sometimes say things you don't really mean and as much as you don't really mean them you do end up saying them. Which can be hurtful and offensive to some people. Does that make the person who said it immediately a bad person? It depends, because I think most people would say a bad thing when they're mad or frustrated. It's not like you have what you say perfectly under control. You sometimes say something in the heat of the moment and it can be something you would never say otherwise. That doesn't make it ok but I don't think you should consider this as a sign that this person is a horrible person. When you're mad you say stupid things? Unfortunately that's true. Have you ever been so mad that you didn't even remember what you said exactly? Well I have been that mad, several times actually and I always end up saying dumb things. Most of the time I manage to mute myself so only I can hear my rant of anger b...

Your best memories in a game and no one else understands that

Have you ever had a question from someone in your family or friends that asked you if you had a good day and you said that you had an amazing day but when you explain what that exactly meant that they thought you were crazy? No? Just me then? I doubt I'm the only one who had those situations but honestly there are moments when you had such a great time in a game and somehow there is no one who understands that. At least not like you. What are some unique moments in games? One of the things that really makes me happy is when I beat a tough boss or a difficult level in a game. Think about all the times you got beaten and how close you got sometimes but just didn't make it. Then when you finally do you scream and cheer but no one else understand your joy and your relief. When you try to explain that then a lot of people don't understand your reaction, why would anyone be so excited about that? I guess some people see games as just games and it's difficult to explain th...

YouTube adventures -87- Selling your YouTube channel?

I think most people that start with a YouTube channel never imagined that one day they would be selling it. When you first start you're full of ideas and you want to try most of those ideas or at least think about trying those ideas. It's great when your channel grows and you get more subscribers, this motivates you more and you want to do more. But sometimes things happen, busy with school or your job, that make it harder to put so much focus on your channel. Do you give up on school and your job or would you... Sell your YouTube channel? It seems pretty extreme to sell your YouTube channel but it's not completely unthinkable. Wouldn't you rather see it in the hands of someone who would take good care of it than to slowly see it die? Well maybe some people are too attached and couldn't let go and I understand that, I doubt I would ever sell my channel. Not that my channel is such a succes but the videos are made by me and it would be as if I would sell a piece ...

MMORPGs are bad for you?

I know that some people have been yelling for years that games are bad for you and I would usually ignore most of what these people say but when it comes to MMORPGs I can't help but notice that these games sometimes do have a negative effect on people. That doesn't mean that every MMORPG is bad for you but I can see for certain that too much of something is bad for you and perhaps that is the biggest issue with MMORPGs. People play too long and too much of these games and that's never a good thing! Playing MMORPGs is bad for you? Well that depends, if you play only an hour or two on a day then that's not so bad. But if you spend ten or more hours on one day on one of these games or any game at all then I'd say that this is bad. But for MMORPGs there are more issues. Things can easily get repetitive and the community isn't always the best to say the least. Have you ever done a raid with random people? Well you might be in for a whole load of toxic bullshit if...

Battle Royale is the new type of multiplayer?

Of course Battle Royale isn't new but it is a very popular online multiplayer game mode that increases with popularity each day. Just look at games like PUBG and Fortnite Battle Royale, these games are full of people and it wouldn't surprise me if other games are going to pick this game mode up as well. For example CoD and Battlefield might also have this game mode in future editions of those games. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Battle Royale is fun? I can't speak for myself though, I personally don't like Battle Royale but I seem to be one of the few people out there that doesn't like it. A lot of people are interested in playing some Battle Royale and the popularity of Fortnite Battle Royale alone already proves how many people like it. Fortnite was a game that was slowly going down the drain with the PvE game mode, but ever since Battle Royale was introduced the game has been really popular and a lot of people love to play it. So this makes me believe ...

A loot box system for every game?

I don't know a lot of people that are happy with the loot boxes, sure some people will buy loot boxes every now and then, for example in Overwatch during an event, but usually most people aren't comfortable with the loot box system and just want things to be different. Of course that's easier said than done, especially if you look at the latest popular games that all seem to have a type of loot box system. Can we ever get rid of loot boxes or will loot boxes be in all future games? Let's find out! How can something be added when it's hated by so many? That's really the question isn't it? Because just looking at the whole Star Wars Battlefront 2 disaster with their loot box system which is pay to win you would think that other developers would slow down or just cancel their loot box systems but unfortunately you would be mistaken to think that. A lot of games hold on to a certain loot box system and they don't see the issue with it. I guess if you ear...

I hate Monday: When people are team killing you

Isn't it nice to be on a team with other players? To work together and try to win together. What could go wrong? Well...a lot actually! Have you ever played a game called Rainbow Six Siege? Everytime new operators come out there is always this moment at the start of the match that people try to pick the new characters first. People who weren't fast enough and didn't learn to ask nicely then see it as their right to shoot you on sight. Because that's what you do when you're an immature douchebag. Why do people kill someone on their own team? This isn't possible in every game but there are some games where this happens. The first game where I saw this happen was in Halo. A guy on my team had a rocket launcher and apparently someone else on my team wanted that so he hit him a couple of times until he died and then took the weapon for himself. I can understand the desire for a certain weapon but killing a team mate is just wrong. The same counts for Rainbow Six ...

Sinful Sunday: When DC and Marvel fans fight it out on the internet

It's that time of the year again, no I'm not talking about Christmas but actually I'm talking about the DC and Marvel fanboys and girls fighting it out on the internet with eachother. It's so weird how some people seem to take this so seriously. I mean is it really that bad to like both DC and Marvel? I guess it must be because so many people love to jump on the hate train. Which is ridiculous because both DC and Marvel have some cool heroes and stories. Ok maybe Marvel is a bit better with their movies and DC has some really cool animations going on but does that truly make you want to hate the other for it? You can like both? I might sound like a crazy person but yeah you can like both DC and Marvel at the same time. I know it sounds insane but that's how I feel. I read so many X-Men comics as a kid and also watched Batman the animated series on tv. I never felt the need to pick a side because I like both DC and Marvel and is that really a bad thing? I mean yo...

YouTube adventures -86- Your face on every thumbnail?

You've probably seen these videos, people that love to put their mug on every thumbnail of every video they make. It's their video so they have every right to do so, but do you as a viewer like that or is that a bit too much for you? It's difficult to escape these mugs on YouTube, they'll stare at you unless you click on another video. All the faces on YouTube raise a question: Do you need to have your face on every thumbnail? I only have two videos with my face on the thumbnail, the first one is an introduction video and the other was a video where I talk about greed and I had this idea about putting chocolate coins in my mouth. Maybe not the most interesting thing to look at but I thought it was funny. I guess the main reason why I don't put my face on every thumbnail is because I don't think I have a face that everyone wants to look at nor do I want to look at it all the time. Oh sure I'm not ugly but does that mean I want to shove my mug into someone...
