Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Raid mode)

Last time I talked about Resident Evil Revelations 2 I wasn´t that positive, I´m not saying that it´s a bad game but it´s definitely not an improvement of the first and that´s a shame because Resident Evil Revelations is a good game. So what about raid mode in Resident Evil Revelations 2? Well let´s find out! What type of raid mode is this? This raid mode is actually a lot like the raid mode in Resident Evil Revelations, but this time there´s a bit of a story tied to it. You play as a test subject for the Red Queen (the one that keeps you locked up) and you have to survive challenges (faces multiple enemies in arenas) to make it to the next one. Each time you finish a series of 6 missions you complete a gauntlet, in episode one you´ll have acces to the first three gauntlets so that´s a total of 18 missions on normal, 18 on hard and 18 on very hard. You´ll first have to unlock the missions by getting a certain amount of medals, these medals are based on your actions in the mission. ...

Resident Evil Revelations 2 (closer look)

I was a bit reluctant to buy this game, it´s not that I hated Resident Evil Revelations but it´s more that Resident Evil Revelations doesn´t have any playable characters I´m very interested in playing with. Sure Barry seems cool but then there´s also a little girl (Natalia) with him and she can point and throw bricks so that kind of gives you an idea how much fun that will be. Claire and Moira are a better team in my opinion, but here it´s also the same where one holds the guns and the other has a flashlight and a crowbar. Is this really a Resident Evil game? Well you play with some of the characters from Resident Evil games (Barry and Claire), it says Resident Evil in the title and I guess it´s survival horror in some way but that´s about it. While playing episode one of Resident Evil Revelations 2 I didn´t really had the idea that I was playing a Resident Evil game, mostly because it´s running and shooting at some points. I must admit that as Barry you get a better chance to snea...

Batman gets mature rating in Arkham Knight

It´s interesting to see that Batman has finally gotten a mature rating instead of a teen rating, because the adventures of Batman aren´t that sweet and I think that with a mature rating the developers can show a more intense story than with the teen rating. Of course it remains to be seen how good this game is and what exactly makes this game so scary. Why is it good that a Batman game gets a mature rating? This mean less Batman Forever or Batman and Robin stuff and some more Batman and Batman Returns things going on in Arkham Knight. In other words things will get darker and a bit more scary. I don´t think mature means sex in a Batman game but it´s not impossible, something that Metal Gear Solid 3 proved. From what I saw in the trailers it´s most likely about some scary faces, I´m not even talking about Two Face but Scarecrow is now probably the scariest character in the game. Hopefully this mature rating means a story that is truly worthy for Batman, not that Arkham Asyl...

Heists are almost available in GTA V!

If you haven´t heard the news, heists will be available on the 10th of March which is pretty close! So what does that mean? A massive group of players returning to GTA V or are people done with GTA V? I´m certain that a lot of people still enjoy playing GTA V but I hope for Rockstar that these heists will be amazing because people have been waiting for a long time for this and expect a lot! Heists can´t live up to the hype? That depends, because if you´re just curious about it without having high expectations then I doubt that it can be bad. But if you have high expectations then there is always a good chance that the heists will disappoint, eventhough Rockstar probably has done an amazing job with this because I don´t think they would leave anything to chance! I can´t help but wonder how people will receive the heists, because some already talk about it as if it´s the best thing ever while others already spread their hate about something they hardly know nothing about and have nev...

Friendly bots are always stupid?

When you´re not a big fan of teaming up with other players certain games give you the option to play with bots, but that can be a frustrating experience! I think we all played games where you face enemies that are just terrible, they charge at you and drop like flies, and the good thing is that this helps you advance in a game. But when these bots are in your team then you´re in trouble, because they´ll constantly die and make the dumbest decisions possible. So I´m really wondering if there are any smart bots out there, if so then there can´t be that many! People are better than bots? In most games that´s true, because even a bad player can do things better than a bot that just dies because of stupidity. With a player you can communicate and strategize a bit, a bot will just charge in and die. Unfortunately players can also be annoying or deliberately sabotage the mission and get everyone killed. So it might be smart to stick with people you know or at least those that you enjoy pl...

Looking back at.....L4D! (Left For Dead)

The moment I heard about L4D I was interested, this was exactly what I was looking for as a survival horror fan. A zombie shooter where you can team up with friends and have a big area to move around in. Maybe some people already experience with that but for me it was new and new is usually good! Zombies! Somehow zombies are fun to shoot, I guess it´s a bit of a free pass to shoot at people because they´re not exactly people anymore. I know that some people would say that too much of something is a bad thing but when you face a lot of zombies in a game then it just becomes more interesting. Other zombie games, for example Resident Evil usually keep the amount of zombies low, that gives you a fighting chance, but in L4D you face hordes of zombies and what´s worse there are also special infected that can easily kill you if you´re not careful! Teamwork is the key! Wether you play solo or with friends it´s smart to stick with the group because if you run off by yourself there i...

Sinful Sunday: Loot in games

It´s not a surprise that people want to get nice things in games, for example getting loot in a game can lead to some nice things. But what if you constantly get bad loot? How do you motivate yourself to keep going? Does this change your attitude in the game? Let´s take a closer look at loot in games. Unlucky or impatient? When it comes to loot drops in games it´s important that you´re patient, you hardly ever see people get good things in the first loot drop and even when they do get something good that is usually the best thing they´ll get for the rest of the day. I know that there are sometimes people out there that seem to get a lot of good things, you can be jealous or you can just focus on your own characters and hope for the best. It´s important that you´re patient, if you´re impatient then I wouldn´t recommend playing games where the loot drops are random. Because there is a good chance that you spend hundreds of hours on a game and still don´t get what you want. Some would...

Bringing back the Mass Effect trilogy (new and improved)

This isn´t news, this is more a request for Bioware to give us the Mass Effect trilogy on the current consoles (Playstation 4 and Xbox One). Why? Because it would be great if you could play the Mass Effect trilogy before we start with Mass Effect 4, it would help you get back into the story and relive (perhaps even discover) adventures with your crew. Eventhough your crew isn´t always the same I do think that you build a connection with them, going through so much hardship and still come out on top. I think that counts for something! What would you like to see? It´s not just me, I think a lot of people would like to see the Mass Effect trilogy on their (new) console without having to go back to the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. The games could get a nice graphic upgrade, maybe some new missions or an extra crew member if possible. But what a lot of people would like to see is a worthy ending to Mass Effect 3. Spoiler! If you haven´t played Mass Effect 3 and/or you don´t want to know h...

Destiny won´t last much longer?

At least that´s what a lot of people say, this is nothing new but now it´s not just haters that are saying it. These speculations are based upon the disappointment of the dark below dlc and the house of wolves dlc will launch later than expected, this could be bad for Destiny because even die hard fans get bored with the same stuff sooner or later. So what does that mean for the future of Destiny? What can you expect from Destiny this year? First of all there will be the house of wolves dlc which will launch in the second quarter of this year, which means in April, May or June. If you want to believe the rumors then there will be a big expansion and more dlc coming later this year, but that might be too late if Bungie keeps this up. Why? Because a lot of people are tired of playing the same missions and working hard trying to get loot that never seems to drop, you get tired of that real fast when the future doesn´t show any improvement towards that. For example the on...

Evolve (closer look)

Have you played the game Evolve? It´s a game where you play as one of four hunters or as the monster. It´s not that difficult to figure out what you need to do, the hunters try to kill the monster as fast as they can and the monster tries to reach stage 3 (by eating a lot of creatures in that area) and then kill the hunters or destroy the power relay to win. As a hunter you can have three other people with you in the team or play with three bots, as the monster you´re on your own and you have to play it smart or else the hunters will annihilate you! So it´s just a 4 against 1 game? You wouldn´t give the game enough credit if you described it like that but yes it does come down to that idea. But that´s hunt mode, in other modes you still have the 4 against 1 situation but with often different objectives or alternative objectives to help you win. For example in nest mode the hunters have to destroy eggs and monsters that hatched from those eggs while the monster has to ...

Does it matter if you play on the Xbox One or Playstation 4?

It´s nothing new, people spreading hate in the comment section about a console. This is usually done by people that like to mess with others and make people upset. But does it really matter what your favourite console is? Is one console really better than the other? Which console is better? If you look at the stats then I´d say it´s the Playstation 4, if you look at the sales it´s the Playstation 4, if you look at exclusive games then they´re tied (in my opinion) and when you look at the amount of fun you can have with a console I´d say it´s a matter of opinion. It´s not a secret that the Playstation 4 has the better papers, this might be rough for the die hard Xbox One fans but this is the way it is. But does that make the Xbox One a bad console? If you want to believe the haters then sure it´s a bad console, but if you have fun playing on your Xbox One and like the games that you can play on your Xbox One then that´s not a bad console! So the Xbox One and Playstation 4 are both...

Why should you play survival horror games in the dark?

It´s easy to say that it´s scarier to play in the dark but there´s more to it, for example people with a lot of imagination will have a rough time playing a survival horror game in the dark because their imagination will make things worse for them. It´s usually just in your head but in the dark things are often scarier because you can´t see what´s really going on, mix that with a game that makes you feel uncomfortable and you´ve got the perfect combination for everyone that likes creepy things! But what makes it so creepy? When you´re watching a horror movie you can easily look away when it´s too scary for you, but when you play a game you can´t look away because then your character in the game is vulnerable and you probably want him or her to survive. Which means you´ll have to look and because you´re sitting alone in the dark with your headphones on (which is how you should play survival horror games) there is no safe place, you´ll have to deal with what´s in front of you. Th...

Looking back at.....Far Cry 3!

It hasn´t been that long ago when I last played Far Cry 3, which isn´t surprising because the game launched in 2012. But that doesn´t mean that you can just forget about this game! Far Cry 3 is my first experience with a Far Cry game and I had a lot of fun playing it. But to be honest most games where you get a lot of freedom are fun to play! It´s not the story that makes the game good! You might be surprised that I don´t like this game for the story, especially since this is usually one of the things I like about games. I like this game because of the freedom and all the things you can do, it gives you so many options and the best part is that you don´t have to do all of that to make it to the end. Of course things become easier if you upgrade your gear and improve your skills with the experience points you earn. But getting back to the story I would like to add that it´s not a bad story, it´s more of a typical one guy to save us all story and yet there can be a nasty twist in...

Sinful Sunday: Relationships make the life of a gamer complicated?

It probably sounds ridiculous, especially to people that think that gamers are losers who can´t even get a boyfriend or girlfriend. But a relationship can definitely change the life of a gamer, at least if he or she is willing to change. If you´re being a piece of shit then you´ll most likely go on as you always have and you probably won´t be in a relationship for long. Maybe that´s a bit of speculation but let´s be realistic and say that it´s not nice if you put games before your boyfriend or girlfriend! How does a relationship make the life of a gamer complicated? It would depend what kind of gamer you are, I mean if you´re a casual gamer then not much will change because you don´t play games for that long on a day. But if spend a lot of hours (more than six hours on a day) on gaming then that might make things awkward in your social life, especially when your boyfriend or girlfriend doesn´t share your passion for gaming. Which means that you´ll have to adapt to mak...

Valentines Day for gamers

It´s that time of the year again, Valentines Day and if this is important to you or your loved one then you´ll probably make something special of this day. But if you don´t care about Valentines Day then it´s probably going to be a day just like any other. Does this also count for gamers? Do gamers also have a romantic heart? Let´s find out! Gamers like romance? I don´t think you can say that about every gamer but I´m pretty certain that one person isn´t the other and so it´s safe to assume that there are most likely romantic gamers out there as there are also gamers out there that don´t care about romance at all. In some games you´re even encouraged to do something romantic for another character in the game, for example in Dragon Age: Inquisition you´re trying to be romantic to Cassandra if you want to win her heart. But let´s not forget that before that you flirt with her and you´re nice to her, which is what most women would appreciate. But what does romance mean for gamer...

Mass Effect 4 has multiplayer?

Now before you get angry or excited it hasn´t been confirmed! So far all we know is that there will be online options in Mass Effect 4, what that exactly means remains a mystery for now but that doesn´t stop the speculation! I must admit that I´m not very excited about this news, I mean online options are great when things work but if even the slightest thing isn´t working correctly then it can be a headache! Do you think that they´ll put multiplayer in Mass Effect 4? It wouldn´t surprise me if they did, because Bioware did that in Mass Effect 3 and in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Both times it was with succes so it makes sense that they would bring that back in Mass Effect 4, probably bigger and better than before. Is that a good thing? That depends, do you like multiplayer in a game that is actually made for single player? If you have friends that play the same game as you then it´s nice that you can share this experience in multiplayer, but for a lot of players it´s just an inco...

Saints Row IV: Gat out of Hell is worth checking out?

If you bought Saints Row IV re-election then you also got Gat out of Hell with it, but is this stand alone dlc just as much fun as Saints Row IV or not? I can´t help but feel like Gat out of Hell is a bit of an experiment, where you don´t control the boss of the 3rd Street Saints but you play as someone else. Maybe this is a one time thing but it could mean something for Saints Row V. Who knows... In Gat out of Hell you play as Johnny Gat? Yes, but you can also play as Kinzie Kensington. But most things in this stand alone dlc point towards Johnny, not just some of the achievements/trophies but also the funniest parts in the game are claimed by Johnny. That doesn´t mean it´s not rewarding to play as Kinzie, she has her own commentary on certain locations and confrontations with certain people. You also get achievements/trophies if you play for two hours with Johnny and two hours with Kinzie, discover all 50 commentaries for both Johnny and Kinzie. It doesn´t really matter ...

Evolve is more fun than you might think!

I´m actually surprised that this game gets so much hate, but then again it´s not that surprising because these days it´s almost standard that popular games get hate from random douchebags. But that doesn´t make Evolve a bad game! It´s actually a lot of fun and if you play it with friends then it´s even more fun! What kind of game is Evolve? In this game you play as one of four hunters or as one of three monsters. The hunters try to kill the monster while the monster tries to evolve into a bigger and stronger monster and then kill the hunters. It seems like a simple hack and slash type of game but it actually takes some strategy to be succesful, if you just rush in then even a level 1 monster might be able to kill you! Especially when you´re separated from the other hunters, teamwork is the key! As a monster you´ll have to kill other creatures on the map and eat them, this will help you evolve into a stronger monster and it will give you a better chance to survive an encounter with ...

Too many zombie games?

I´ve heard people complain about this for several years and to be honest I do see their point because there are a lot of zombie games. But the real question is, do you like zombie games? Because as long as people like playing zombie games then you´ll keep seeing new zombie games appear! Too much of something is a bad thing? That´s true, but it´s more than just that. I enjoy playing zombie games and as long as you´re having fun playing a game then does it really matter that it´s another zombie game? I don´t think there are other creatures out there that are as much fun to shoot as zombies. For me fun is important in games, so if zombie games can offer me the fun I´m looking for then I don´t see the problem. But at the same time there does seem to be a big supply of zombie games and the quality isn´t that great in some of them. Which is a shame but that doesn´t make all zombie games bad! Could zombies be replaced by another creature in a game? It´s possible but that would depend ...

Looking back at.....Samurai Warriors!

Have you ever played one of the Dynasty Warriors games? If you liked those games then you´re going to like the Samurai Warriors games as well! The big difference is that Dynasty Warriors takes place in China in the three kingdoms period while Samurai Warriors takes place in Japan in the Sengoku period. It´s mostly hack and slash in levels that represend a battlefield but if you pay attention you might actually learn something as well! History as it should be. I like History, but sometimes it can be boring and then it can be rough to learn. So what makes it more fun to learn? A game where you play in a certain time period and can kick ass! Eventhough it´s mostly hack and slash it´s still fun and easy to play, of course you can make it more difficult by raising the difficulty but since the AI in these games is attrocious you might not want to make it too hard on yourself because you´ll have to do almost everything in these games. What´s also fun in games like Samurai Warrior...

Sinful Sunday: Killing someone in a game is bad?

In my opinion it sounds worse than it is, killing someone in a game. But what does that mean exactly? You control a character in a game and someone else controls a character in the game, then your character (which is under your control) kills the character of someone else (controlled by another player). Is that really a bad thing? Does this make people violent or more dangerous? Would it be better if you could only kill NPCs? Let´s find out! Killing someone in a game isn´t really killing someone? That´s right, you don´t really kill someone and by killing someone in a game the other person has a respawn and can get back in the game and has his or her revenge. In real life there is no such thing, dead is dead! Which is exactly my point here, it´s a game and it´s meant to be fun. If you don´t understand what´s fun about shooting eachother in a game then you clearly don´t like first person shooters and that´s quite alright, we all have our own type of favourite game and you shouldn´t p...

Not playing games anymore

It seems crazy to some people, not playing games anymore while you used to play them a lot. As weird as it might sound this does happen to some people. There are several reasons why this could happen but it usually comes down to not having any time left in the day to spend on games. That´s sad but unfortunately that´s reality for some people. Can you combine work with games? If your work involves playing games then yes you can, if it´s not then I find it unlikely that you can combine your work with games and expect to get good results. For example if you´re a journalist and you write about games then it makes sense that you know something about games and thus play games, but you can´t play games when you´re writing so even in that situation work would always have to come first. If you´re a youtuber that earns money with videos you make where you play games then you can combine work with games because playing games is your work more or less. It´s rough if you can play games because ...

Destiny: House of wolves delayed?

Probably a lot of Destiny players have already heard this but I can´t help but still be surprised by this, because the rumors first said that the house of wolves dlc would be released in March but not it´s going to be April, May or June. I don´t think I have to mention that this is a disappointment or is this actually a good thing? How is delaying the dlc a good thing? Anyone that got into the dark below dlc late is still trying to level up their characters to level 31 or 32, so for the new dlc to appear that early it would mean that you barely got familiar with your new gear and you would already need better gear to level up. Why would you buy the dark below gear when the house of wolves gear would be available that quickly after it? Now you can at least get your characters on a high level, unlock the new gear and actually use it for some time before the house of wolves gear becomes available. But what about veteran players that already have their characters leveled up in new ge...

The Sims 4: Get to work!

Some time ago I talked about the Sims 4 being quiet, well it seems that the first add on is a fact and it´s called get to work. But are you really waiting for the same things or do you finally get something new you haven´t seen before in the Sims? So what´s new? There are three ´new´ professions: detective, doctor and scientist. But that´s not new! No they´re not, but this time it´s not sending your sim to work and then concentrate on other sims. This time you can actually follow your sims to work and see what they do and actually do things yourself. So it´s not just getting a good mood for your sim, learn the skills you need to advance and making friends at work. Now you´ll actually have to do the job! So for a doctor that means some surgery and other stuff in the hospital, the detective will have to solve crimes and there is some crime scene investigation stuff going on plus you can interrogate suspects, the scientist can invent and create new things and that can sometimes lead t...

Saints Row IV: Gat out of hell

Just when you think things can´t go crazier than an alien invasion then you get Gat out of hell, which makes things even weirder but more important is it still fun? Is it a smart idea to give you control of other characters instead of the character you made? Are people still interested in Saints Row IV more than a year after the release on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3? What does this stand alone dlc have to offer? Well let´s find out! You don´t play as your own character? That´s right, you play as Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kinsington. You do see your own character, the one you made in Saints Row IV, in the first cutscene but after that it´s the Johnny and Kinzie show! Which isn´t a bad thing because Johnny is a very popular character in the Saints Row series and Kinzie is a nice alternative for women or guys that like to play as a female character. You can choose with whom you want to play and if you want to play as the other then you can switch as many times as you want. You can ...

GTA vs Saints Row

I think you´ve heard of both games series and you probably have a favourite, but which one do you think is better? Probably a lot of people will say that GTA is much better, but is that true? Is Saints Row really a wannabe GTA game or is there more to this game? Let´s find out! GTA games. In a GTA game there is usually a character that goes through some difficulty, but then against all odds he (in GTA the main character is almost always a man, sometimes a weirdo) manages to beat the bad guys (eventhough the main character isn´t really a good guy either). It´s a trusted formula in GTA and one that works because they sell a lot of games and there is a lot to do in those games. My first experience with GTA started in GTA III and that was a lot of fun, ever since I´ve been playing almost every GTA game that came out after that. GTA likes to stick close to the truth, in a way that it could´ve happened in real life but at the same time keep it interesting by making certain things rid...

Looking back at.....Icewind Dale 2!

I don´t play a lot of RPGs but ever since I played Baldur´s Gate Dark Alliance on my Playstation 2 I was interested, which eventually lead to me playing RPGs on the Pc and that leads to Icewind Dale and eventually Icewind Dale 2. Because the Icewind Dale games aren´t that different then the Baldur´s Gate games, you see the same type of fantasy and RPG elements that makes the fan feel at home and still make it accessible for any new players. The foundation of your adventure. You might think that with RPGs you need a great story and interesting characters, but what if you make the interesting characters yourself and fill in the story for as much as you can? Then you´re playing something interesting! Not only can you make your own characters in your party, you can also write background stories and decide what type of characters they are. For each individual in your party you can select gender, race, class and their alignment (for example lawful good or chaotic evil). Anyone with even ...

Sinful Sunday: Too old to play games?

When you see gamers then you don´t expect them to be much older than 30, I think teenagers already consider 30 as old so it might depend who you ask but there are certainly people out there that think that some people are too old to play games. But is that true? Is there an age that you´re too old to play games? Should there be a maximum age for games? Everyone can see on certain games that you need to have a certain age before you can play that game, of course not everyone actually does that but more on that later. So what if developers would come up with a maximum age, people that are older than the age on the box aren´t allowed to play it. Ridiculous of course, because if people would actually take that seriously and hold themselves to that rule then developers would be creating a smaller market for their game and that´s not good for profits! Which means that you´re never too old to play games! Do you feel old when you play a game that is mostly played by kids? That´s assumi...
