Sinful Sunday: the troll wars

I´ll probably sound like an old douchebag but I´m not going to let that stop me from telling you this, when I was a kid I played games for fun and the main reason to play games was for fun. Of course it´s nice if you have succes and later playing with friends in local multiplayer you could have a lot of fun! It´s funny to sometimes be this douchebag friend that makes fun of his friends and try to mess with them if possible, but all in good fun. These days a lot of gamers play online and often with strangers, but somehow that doesn´t keep people from being that same douchebag that makes fun of others. You might think that ok and I guess it´s ok, but the problem is that these people seem to always do that in games where you can´t use such behaviour, which results into annoying and frustrating moments!


I´m getting the idea that people play games these days to annoy others and not to have fun with the game itself, well maybe they´re still having fun but if that has to come at the expense of others then you don´t belong in the online community. Look I´m not saying that we all should hold hands and sing songs around a fire, but when you play with strangers then it´s maybe not the right time to be a douchebag. This is something a lot of people don´t seem to understand, because a lot of the troll videos online are people playing with their friends. Of course there are also several videos where people play with strangers and try to be the biggest and baddest troll. But this all feels like wannabe behaviour, the best trolls are people that know what they´re doing and doing that spontaniously instead of forcing it. This works best if you play with people you know, because a troll works much better in a situation where he knows the players/victims.


For the attention and views a lot of trolls go out of their way to be a complete utter douchebag online, which says more than enough about them. Some actually have succes with that but most are just a bunch of sad attention whores that fail at being funny or interesting. Then you really have to wonder, is it worth it? Probably not, because people don´t want to play with you and only if you don´t get turned on by all the hate you might want to create another profile. It´s not easy to be noticed on youtube and even when you have something interesting to show others then that doesn´t guarantee succes. So instead of trying to be just like douchebag number 1234567, you might want to try something else and maybe that has more succes. No guarantees though...
