Endless Summer
It´s Summer! For some this is a great time to enjoy the sun and spend time with friends, but for others this is the worst time of the year. I don´t even mean people that don´t like the heat, no I´m talking about gamers that now face a couple of months without any new releases. It´s a tough time and it´s not easy for some gamers to make it through this nightmare. But here are some tips to help you through the Summer!
1. Spend some more time online with others, you might not enjoy playing with strangers but often that´s a good way to pass the time when you´re bored. It keeps even old games fresh and it´s a lot of fun when you´re kicking ass! Of course there is also the downside where things don´t go so well and that it doesn´t improve your mood. It´s not a bad idea to play with people you do know, so spend time with friends online, challenge them to a race or set up a whole tournament to keep your friends and yourself busy!
2. Spend time with friends or make new friends, it seems easy but you´d be suprised how many people don´t have that many friends online. Which doesn´t have to be a problem but when it´s Summer then you´ll notice the lack of friends a bit more when you keep playing the same old shit. So don´t be afraid to make new friends, post a message on a forum and hopefully some nice people will respond. Just remember that annoying people also read those messages, so don´t be suprised if you get some negative or weird replies.
3. Try to complete some games, this is something I wouldn´t recommend for everyone but if you´re close to completing a game then you might want to try to get all achievements/trophies in the game. This can be boring and frustrating, but it keeps you busy and if you succeed then you also feel a bit proud. Otherwise just try to get as many achievements/trophies as you can in a game, that should boost your morale as well!
4. Check your local games store for some cheap games, usually in Summer a lot of games are for sale and it´s nice if you can buy some cool games for a good price. Then you have some ´new´ games to play and it doesn´t cost you that much. I started the Summer with a nice deal, buying Far Cry 3 for 21 Euros! Yes it can be that cheap!
5. If you don´t have money to buy games, if you don´t want to make new friends and you don´t have any friends that play games then you might wonder what you could do if you don´t feel like achievement or trophy hunting. Well how about playing a nice classic? A game that you love and probably have played a lot already, but it´s a game that you enjoy playing and that usually gives you a great feeling just to play it. I think Summer is the perfect time to play a game like that, it might not be the most exciting thing to do but it keeps you busy and if you enjoy playing that game another time then who really cares!
Maybe you have your own trick to make it through the Summer, maybe you still have a lot of games in your possession that you never played? Then now would be a great time to catch up with that! Whatever it is you´re going to do, I hope that you´re having a great time and I wish you a good time!
