Looking back at.....Call of Duty Black Ops!

This game isn´t even that old but I still want to talk about it, because for me this was my first encounter with a Call of Duty game. Of course I´ve heard a lot about it and I´ve seen plenty of videos with some CoD footage but it never really convinced me to buy a CoD game. Until I saw some videos on youtube of zombie mode. I heard about that the first time in Call of Duty World at War, where they put zombies in a game. The main reason I didn´t buy that game is because it´s another World War II game and I´ve played a lot of those a decade ago. But Black Ops takes place during the cold war and I was curious enough to give it a shot. I was not disappointed!

CoD sucks? You hear this so many times from people, well you mostly read this in the comment section of almost anything CoD related. But somehow CoD is the most popular first person shooter out there and even when a game is not that well received (CoD Ghosts) there are still a lot of people that play that game and then there are people that just go back to one of the previous CoD games. I think Black Ops was a great game to start with, because you´re not playing a game that is in the middle of a story arc but you begin with something new.

Do you play single player or is it only enjoyable in multiplayer? I actually like the single player and the story with Alex Mason and the numbers is fun to play. I think people who played that game will know exactly what you mean when you say: "tell me about the numbers Mason". But of course people play CoD games for multiplayer and Black Ops isn´t an exception, it´s actually interesting to use older weapons instead of new high tech stuff. It´s rough when you start as a rookie in multiplayer and the amount of (spawn) campers is overwhelming, but once you find your way in multiplayer you can become quite good yourself. It´s easy to mute others if they bother you and the matches are usuallly quick and direct. Which means no endless looking on a map for enemies, it usually doesn´t take you long to find an enemy or for the enemy to find you! But I didn´t buy Black Ops for the single player or multiplayer, I bought it for zombie mode.

What´s so special about zombie mode? It´s a challenge that never stops and never gives up! You have to survive wave after wave while you kill a lot of zombies and use weapons and perks to make it through a round. The hilarious characters, crazy enemies and weird weapons make it an interesting mode that is quite fun to play solo or with friends. If you´d buy Black Ops just for zombie mode then you´re not going to be bored for quite some time, especially if you buy the dlc maps that offer you a lot more zombie maps!

After Black Ops you got Black Ops II, which continues the story of the first game and you even get to play as Alex Mason again, but the majority of Black Ops II takes place in the future and some people don´t like that, I wasn´t a big fan of that either at first but later learned to actually like that! It´s more fun, chaos and (for all the haters) more of the familiar stuff but it doesn´t bore me nor does it bother me. These games are fun and if you can´t see the fun in games like this then that´s your problem and not of every other person that plays it!
