Can friendship survive in a game?
Sometimes when I play games with friends the tension reaches a critical point where no one wants to lose and harsh words can be said in the heat of the moment, I mean nobody wants to lose and sometimes when the score is that close then it only takes one mistake to fuck it up! It´s great when afterwards everything is back to normal, but what if things aren´t back to normal?
Is it possible to lose friends because of a game? To give you a short answer, yes! But that person is usually not a good friend, unless you´re being a terrible friend yourself then it would make a bit more sense. It´s not uncommon for friends to get angry at eachother because of a game, but it´s completely up to you how you deal with that! Sure you can be mad for a moment but that´s a moment and not worth keeping a grudge against your friend. Of course there are people that are scumbags, but you probably know that if he or she is your friend and to hold that against someone seems a bit weird. Because if you know someone reacts in a certain way it shouldn´t suprise you and you should be used to it, but that doesn´t mean that it´s always acceptable. It´s easy to say what you think about that person, but let´s not forget that in the heat of the moment you often say things you don´t really mean so it´s not a bad idea to sometimes just stay quiet.
Competitive games ruin friendships? Well it´s possible, but sometimes it also makes a friendship stronger! If you work well together or really put eachother to the test then you can become even better friends. It really depends on the situation and who you and your friend are, because we all have our own way of reacting to certain situations. But it´s not just competitive games that can ruin a friendship, how about a mmorpg? They´re addictive and people that lose contact with their friends often find themselves alone after several months or maybe even a year! But it doesn´t always take a mmorpg for that, sometimes just a fun single player game can do that. So instead of playing games all day long you might want to go out and spend time with friends! If they don´t live anywhere near you then you can always play online, but remember to play nice! Unless your friend is being a dick, then it´s quite alright to play less nice!
You know your friends probably better than anyone else, so you know what you can and can´t say or do. It´s fun to tease or be a scumbag every now and then, just remember that if it would be you that you wouldn´t like that if someone did that to you all the time. So definately pick a time and a place for such behaviour, the most important thing about gaming is to have a great time. So instead of making the life of your firend a nightmare you could also have a great time playing games together! Maybe even make new friends online, it´s possible!
