Romance in Fallout 4?
I must admit that I'm suprised, not only does your playable character speak he or she can also romance his or her companions. Does that remind you of another game or perhaps even multiple games? Anyway it's nice that you can do other things than explore and kill, I mean we all need some time to relax every now and then and what better way to relax than to share some virtual romance with a made up character.
How does this work?
Well I don't know the exact details but apparently you can romance one out of twelve companions and this also includes your dog and some robots. Wait...what?!!! Yes as strange as that sounds you can romance robots and your dog, but I take it that with the dog it's some type of BFF thing instead of actual romance. I also don't know how that works with the robots but who knows maybe in the future they found a solution for that, I mean I did see that movie where robots can look like humans and you can have...well enough of that! It also doesn't matter what gender you are, so your male character can romance other male characters and your female character can romance other female characters. Which is great because it gives players a lot of freedom in their choice with whom they want to spend some quality time.
Isn't this just a Dragon Age/Mass Effect rip off?
I don't see it that way, just because your character now has a voice and can romance a companion it doesn't mean that this is a Dragon Age/Mass Effect rip off. I actually applaud Bethesda for putting this in Fallout 4, because it gives a lot of people exactly what they wanted for a long time. I mean just look back at Skyrim, sure it's nice that you can marry someone but it doesn't really do more than that. If you can romance a companion and then go on an adventure together then that is a lot more interesting. I don't care if it's similar like another game, I'm pretty certain that Fallout 4 will be quite unique in its own way and some smiliarities with another game won't change that!
Do we need romance in Fallout 4?
Probably not, I mean we don't need it to finish the game or get through a difficult moment in the game. But it's just for fun, for those that want that and I bet it's completely optional so if you're not interested in that then you can just ignore that. So no you don't need it but I'm pretty certain that a lot of people are happy that Bethesda put this in Fallout 4, because a little bit of romance can make things a bit more interesting.
