Looking back at.....Dead Rising 2!

After the first Dead Rising game a lot of people were excited about Dead Rising 2, it had the whole bigger and better package attached to it and yet somehow it wasn't so well received by the fans. Oh sure some people, like me, like Dead Rising 2 but then there are also people that hated it. Is it really such a bad game? Let's take a closer look...

You and your daughter against the world.

So first of all you play as Chuck and you have a daughter, maybe this doesn't seem interesting but when you think that your daughter has been bitten by a zombie and now you need to get Zombrex (medicine that keeps you from turning into a zombie after you've been bitten by one) every 12 hours or else she'll turn into a zombie. If that happens it's not game over, it just means that you failed the main story and you just have to hold out the remaining time and hopefully do better next time. This time you're in a bigger mall, well it's more a type of entertainment plaza with all types of things you can do, and there is more to do. Maybe sometimes it's a bit too much.

No time to rest!

If you want to get the best ending and try to save as many people as possible then you're in for quite the task! It will mean you have to rush almost all the time and play close with certain timed missions, remember if you get too late for a mission you failed it and if this was a story mission then you failed everything after that. It's rough but it's definitely not impossible, it becomes even easier if you're on a higher level with better weapons and items. The bosses can be skipped, but you often save survivors by beating a boss and it also gets you a nice achievement if you do that. You sometimes also get some Zombrex if you do side missions so it's also a good way to get that, if you have trouble finding that on your own.

Craft like crazy!

The crafting in Dead Rising 2 makes it a fun game, you can make so many different weapons by combining items and/or weapons with eachother. This sometimes gets you some crazy but also powerful weapons! Unfortunately your weapons will break after some time so you always have to be ready with a back up weapon or have the materials to craft more weapons. Some weapons can mean the difference between an easy boss fight or a struggle to survive. You can also put weapons on your bike and make that a killing machine. It's a good way to rack up some zombie kills.

Fun?

Absolutely! Oh sure the story isn't amazing but I don't think it's meant to be, it's about you being in a place full of zombies and you can use almost anything as a weapon or turn it into a weapon to kill the zombies. Usually this is enough to keep some people happy, but this game make it's a treat to just make it a fun and cool experience. It doesn't take you long to beat the game but the game is definitely replayable and with the different endings and overtime mode you definitely have things to do in this game! So is it worth checking out? Yes!
