People want to play old CoD games?

A couple of weeks ago I told you about backwards compatibility for the Xbox One, which is great news for everone that is still holding on to his or her Xbox 360 games. People could vote which Xbox 360 game they wanted to be able to play first on their Xbox One. To my surprise a lot of old CoD games appeared in the top ten list. Is that a coincidence or are Xbox gamers CoD fanboys and girls?


CoD games are good?


Sure, but to see multiple CoD games in the top ten list is just strange. At least that's how I see it because there are so many games out there and that most people would vote for CoD is just weird. I mean CoD in a nutshell is shooting other people, which is fun but there are plenty of other games that offer you that as well. What I'm trying to say is that CoD isn't unique and not something I would put ahead of other titles that offer you so much more. There are platform games, RPGs, third person shooters, action/adventure or even survival horror games that are also a lot of fun but somehow first person shooters (especially CoD) has some die hard fans that clearly gave a lot of support to the whole voting system. So I wouldn't say that CoD is great, it just has a lot of fans that want to keep playing it on their Xbox One.


What does that say about the people that voted?


Of course the haters would say that Xbox sucks and everyone that plays CoD is a loser, because insulting people you don't know online is so cool and makes you look like a bad ass. Oh wait it doesn't! It does show that a lot of people that voted love the old CoD games and that doesn't surprise me because they're fun to play, but it does surprise me that with all the new stuff that is going on in first person shooters that people still seem to hold on to the classic way of playing. Which means without super jumps, wall running or crazy gadgets that give you sometimes an unfair advantage. I actually respect holding on to 'old' games, maybe we don't all like the same type of games but to hold on to something you like means you value it more than what it's truly worth.


So only old CoD games are going to be backwards compatible?


Nope! Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins also got a lot of support so it wouldn't surprise me to see those games return as well. I guess for some titles you'll have to wait longer, the majority of the votes counts and if your favourite game isn't in the top ten then it's probably going to take a bit longer. But sooner or later your favourite might still be playable on your Xbox One, at least if you have the patience for that.

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Movie Monday: Mr & Mrs Smith

There are movie that might not look good at first, when you hear about it, but once you see the movie then you know that it's a fantastic movie. What really made Mr & Mrs Smith so good was the acting of the two main stars in the movie, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They had so much fun making this movie that it's an absolute joy to watch the movie. Which is good news for people that are looking for a fun movie to watch! Married to a spy? The story of Mr & Mrs Smith is pretty simple, a man is a spy and marries to a woman not knowing that she's a spy too. Apparently both of them are unaware of eachothers activities until their paths cross in their spy life, which leads to a lot of fighting and explosions. It's really not the action that makes this movie so much fun to watch but it's the humour. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers?
