Sinful Sunday: picking a favourite

It´s nothing new to have a favourite character or a favourite weapon, but when that character is a bit better than others or that weapon is a bit more powerful than others then it becomes an unfair advantage. Have you ever found yourself playing as that character or using that stronger weapon a bit too often? It´s no suprise really, why wouldn´t you take advantage of that?

In fighting games there are a lot of characters you can choose from, but usually there is one character that has an easy or powerful attack that you can constantly use to defeat your opponent. It´s not nice to do something like that but I don´t think there is a rule against such behaviour, just don´t be suprised that your opponent might leave before the match is over. Not that this wouldn´t happen otherwise, but using such tactics often makes other people not wanting to stay in a match.

You can say the same about an over powered weapon, a weapon that can kill so quickly that other players barely get a chance to even hit you. This often brings me back to Goldeneye and the golden gun, because this weapon kills with one shot. A lot of sniper rifles and shotguns do exactly the same thing, but a sniper rifle takes a bit of skill to handle and a shotgun is only deadly at close range. Not every weapon looks like a golden gun but some of them sure come close to the effect of the golden gun. Just look at the MSBS in CoD Ghosts, that weapon can kill with one burst and someone with good accuracy can kill you almost every time before you even get a chance to kill him or her. These type of weapons are populair, a lot of people like to use them and a lot of other people hate people that constantly use them.

I guess there is nothing wrong with having a favourite character or a favourite weapon, but when this puts you in an unfair advantage then I can´t help but feel a bit disgusted with myself for using that character or weapon. Sure it´s nice to win but I also want to win without having to use some over powered weapon or character, but it´s sure tempting to use one when you face a camper or someone that loves to use an over powered weapon or character. You could call that fighting fire with fire. I´m not a stranger to using strong characters or weapons, but I do try to mix it up a bit.
