Shadow of Mordor is an Assassin´s Creed rip off?
For some time I´ve been hearing people talk shit about Shadow of Mordor, because the sneaking on wires and the eagle eye kind of ability are a lot like the ones in the Assassin´s Creed games. But does that make Shadow of Mordor a filthy thief or is it just using something that already existed and made a different game with it?
It´s easy to say that Shadow of Mordor sucks because you see similarities with Assassin´s Creed, since when was that the main reason to hate a game? Unfortunately that´s nothing new, people can hate someone or something for no reason at all so in a way it doesn´t really come as a suprise to me. If you look long enough at something then you´ll almost always find something you don´t like, but why would you look at a game like that? When I see a trailer of a game, especially if it´s a gameplay trailer, then I´m looking for things I like and not things I´m not going to like. Because as much as things you don´t like could decide if you´re going to buy a game or not, I still think that the things you do like are going to be the deciding factor if you´re going to buy a game or not!
Shadow of Mordor isn´t Assassin´s Creed? No it´s not, because from what I´ve seen so far there are plenty of things different about Shadow of Mordor. In Shadow of Mordor you make your own decisions, if you´re going to spare someone so that person could assist you later or if you´re going to kill him. Which means different ways of playing the game, while in Assassin´s Creed you would follow just the path the story would go and if you failed in some way then it´s game over because that story can only unfold in one way! Also your spectral powers are something completely different, I don´t think I´ve ever seen anything like that in the Assassin´s Creed games. Of course I´m not blind to things that are similar, but who really cares about those things? Shadow of Mordor looks like an awesome game and I think you´d insult the game by saying it´s an Assassin´s Creed rip off.
Don´t mistake this as me hating Assassin´s Creed, I love those games and I´ve played most of them. I love playing games, I love games that are good and I don´t mind if a game borrows something from another game as long as the outcome is good. I´d say anyone that is stuck on seeing Shadow of Mordor as an Assassin´s Creed rip off needs to get his or her eyes checked, there is so much more to that game than just the few things that are similar to the Assassin´s Creed games.
