YouTube adventures part -41- Taking a break
Just like every other job a YouTuber would like to take a break every now and then, because you're often busy with your job every day so it's nice if you can take a break for some time. But since being a YouTuber isn't your ordinary job then it also means that taking a break might be a bit less logic for this job. Because if you don't post videos you will often not get a lot of new viewers, unless people really love your old videos and keep watching those. So the question is...
Can you take a break?
In my opinion you can take a break, because if you commit 24/7 to YouTube you're just driving yourself crazy and you have to deal with a lot of stress. This doesn't make you happy and it's also not a smart way to live your life. So take a break every now and then, go out and do other things because if you spend every day in your house recording and uploading videos then that will become torture sooner or later.
Some people just take a short break, sometimes it's a few days and others want a bit more and settle for a week or two of vacation. Usually they already have several videos ready to upload and will keep doing that eventhough they're on vacation or just taking a break. This way the viewers still have something to see and the YouTuber can enjoy his or her vacation. This is something I can really recommend because just disappearing without any explanation might not be well received by your viewers.
But what if you do take a long break, you don't upload videos and don't tell your viewers anything? Well that would be foolish because a lot of people won't understand what's going on and will probably stop watching your content, unless they're big fans and settle with the videos you already recorded. But don't expect everyone to be understanding your need to step away from everything, especially if you don't explain what's going on. You might think it's not their concern but you should realize that if people really like you and your videos that they would be worried about you, so leaving a video that explains what's going on isn't just the right thing to do, it also helps people understand why you take a break.
Maybe you're more machine than human and you don't need to take a break, which is good for you I guess. But the thing is that we could all use a break every now and then, because non stop working isn't healthy and I doubt people are going to stop watching your videos just because you take a short break. As selfish as it might sound, you should take good care of yourself and shouldn't put everything you have in your work. We all need rest and relaxation from time to time, so don't be a fool and know when it's time to take a break!
