Was 2016 a good year for gamers?

I think that 2016 was a very memorable year for gamers, especially when you look at the games that came out in Autumn. I don't think I've ever seen that many games that came out in such a short time that I wanted to buy and play. But the rest of 2016 was also pretty good, especially games that really made a difference like Overwatch and that game is still pretty popular. But which game was the best and was do all the games in 2016 say about what you can expect in 2017?

This was one of the best years for gamers?

I think 2016 is one of the best years for gamers because a lot of good games came out and you had a lot to pick from. Also some cool games were announced but I don't think that really counts towards this year, but 2016 doesn't need that because there are already a lot of great games in 2016! Let me start with Overwatch, I know not everyone likes this game but looking at all the people that love this game and still do to this very day I think pretty much guarantees that Overwatch will be around for at least another year unless something very strange happens. Another game that also left a big impression on me is Battlefield 1, it's my first Battlefield game and I love it! The battles are so intense and the action is explosive! I must admit that I hardly ever experienced the strong connection with a squad but I had a lot of fun playing the game. A game that is underestimated by a lot of people but definitely not a bad game is Titanfall 2, a fun game that gives people that prefer a fast first person shooter something good and you also get a lot of new titans to play in as well! But let's not forget Final Fantasy XV, the game so many of us have wanted to play for a long time! I love this game and it gives you a big open world and fun things to do with a story that is also good. I don't think I've seen that since Final Fantasy X. There are more good games in 2016 but it would be too many to name them all, I just named some that I really enjoyed playing!

There were also disappointing games in 2016?

Unfortunately yes, I guess you can't escape it but not every game turns out to be amazing and some games I already had a bad feeling about. The Division is a game that really disappointed me, but I must admit that my hopes weren't that high about this game. I played the beta and I had fun, but I knew that this would be another type of Destiny game where you have to play as a team to get the best stuff and I wasn't wrong because going in solo is just a boring and painful experience. The dlc never interested me and the moment I finished the game I stopped playing it. Battleborn was a game a lot of people were excited about and yet it failed, probably because of an unlucky release so close to Overwatch that pretty much crushed Battleborn in more than one way! I'm not saying that Battleborn is a bad game, it just never had a chance against a game like Overwatch and it also is by far not as much fun in my opinion. Then there is also CoD, this time Infinity Ward had a chance to redeem themselves after CoD Ghosts and I don't think they did that, because CoD Infinite Warfare is just not as much fun as Black Ops 3 and in my opinion it feels like Infinite Warfare is heavily leaning on the succes of CoD Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3. Battlefield 1 was the rising star and Infinite Warfare stands in the shadow, I think the only reason why some people bought the game was for the remastered version of CoD 4: Modern Warfare. There were probably more games that some people didn't like or consider as a disappointment but for me these three stand out the most.

I think 2016 was a very good year for gamers, not just first person shooter fantatics but also other genres got some cool games to play. Also with dlc you got some good examples like the Blood and Wine dlc for the Witcher 3, I really enjoyed playing that! Let's not forget about the Pokemon Go craziness in the Summer, a lot of people liked that and had (some still do) a lot of fun with that. Whatever kind of game you like I think 2016 offered you a lot, so I doubt a lot of people would complain about 2016. It's absolutely one of my favourite years so far when it comes to games. Let's hope that 2017 will be just as good or maybe even better! I wish you a fun and safe new year!

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Movie Monday: Mr & Mrs Smith

There are movie that might not look good at first, when you hear about it, but once you see the movie then you know that it's a fantastic movie. What really made Mr & Mrs Smith so good was the acting of the two main stars in the movie, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They had so much fun making this movie that it's an absolute joy to watch the movie. Which is good news for people that are looking for a fun movie to watch! Married to a spy? The story of Mr & Mrs Smith is pretty simple, a man is a spy and marries to a woman not knowing that she's a spy too. Apparently both of them are unaware of eachothers activities until their paths cross in their spy life, which leads to a lot of fighting and explosions. It's really not the action that makes this movie so much fun to watch but it's the humour. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with.
