YouTube adventures part -42- Not motivated to make/post videos?
I think every YouTuber will get a moment that he or she loses the interest to make or post videos, but the reasons for that aren't always the same. It does feel good to be busy so most YouTubers will find a way through this but that might lead to moments where there is hardly any activity on the channel. As much as you might love doing what you do you can't escape...
Moments where you lose interest in making and posting videos.
Moments where you lose interest in making and posting videos.
I get these moments a lot lately, not that I hate making or posting videos but just all the crap that comes with it. For example right now my camera is just not working as it should, which means I can only record short videos and usually just one and then I have to charge my camera for an hour again to record another video. This really slows things down and leaves no room for error. So if something goes wrong I can start all over again and that includes the hour of waiting until my camera is charged again. This is something that completely destroys my motivation to record and post videos because imagine recording a fun video and then realizing that the last five minutes weren't recorded because your camera stopped. You might be ok with that and try again, but when this happens three times in a row on one evening then you get really tired of it and just want to stop.
I know that my method of recording is really dumb and I know that I need to upgrade to my capture card but without a new laptop that's just not happening, so for now I still have to use the broken camera. That's rough and annoying but I seem to manage with that for now. But it gets worse every week and I seem to be able to record less and less with each charge. So that will lead up to the point where I can't record anything anymore or at least nothing big, which leaves me to making super short videos or just quitting until I can use my capture card. All these technical problems really eat away at my motivation to record and post videos, because no matter how much fun that is for you when things keep going wrong you get tired of it really fast and it's probably better to quit. Even if it's just for a short time.
Other YouTubers have other reasons why they don't always feel the need to make and post videos. Some people go through a tough time and I can understand why someone wouldn't be motivated to make videos at that time, because how can you make an entertaining video when you feel so sad? I don't know about you but when I feel sad I don't feel like recording a video. Some people also need a break, especially YouTubers that record and post videos every day. That eats away at you and leaves you drained after a month or two. It's nice that you keep yourself busy but you should take good care of yourself, don't exhaust yourself and put yourself in a busy schedule with no breaks in it. That only creates stress and I doubt that people want to see you stress out in videos, so don't forget to take care of yourself! I know that some people think that YouTubers lead an easy life but that's not true, oh sure some earn quite some money but most YouTubers actually have to do their work every day and try to do their best to give the viewers something cool, funny or interesting to look at. It's not as easy as it looks, but at the same time it is quite rewarding when you make people happy with your videos. So it might be hard work at times but it's also quite rewarding!
