Overwatch ranked players are the worst? (on console)

I wasn't really looking forward to play my placement matches in ranked mode in Overwatch, mostly because a lot of people complained how they got a much lower rank than before, but also because I hardly ever have a good time in ranked mode. I just do my placement matches, a total of ten, and then I'm done with it because it's a very toxic community from my experience on console. Maybe some people don't have that problem but you should realize that I don't have a team or that I have friends that play this game on console. This means I have to play with strangers and a lot of times these strangers aren't very friendly or fun to play games with.

What makes ranked Overwatch players so toxic?

Well it's probably the whole if you lose you lose rank points and so you're further away from ranking up. When something goes wrong it's somehow always the fault of someone else and some people aren't afraid to let you know. But somehow hardly anyone actually uses their microphone, people just let you know with a message that you should kill yourself or demand you change while they could just pick up the microphone they get with their console and plug it in and communicate like a normal person. If there is something you want or if you want to give advice then that's of course fine, but there are ways of how you say that and demanding something from someone you don't even know isn't the best way to motivate them to change. Especially when that person is actually doing well with that character. For example I was playing as Junkrat in a control match, I got a lot of eliminations and cleared the point several times with my attacks but this guy on my team playing as Soldier 76 demands I change, so he sends me this message with just the word change. If I was really that terrible as Junkrat and couldn't do anything and he just talks to me like a normal person then I would actually do it. But when I'm doing well with my character and people treat you like a piece of shit that can be barked around then I'm more likely to ignore this guy. The main problem in my opinion is that hardly anyone communicates, people are very negative and love to blame others instead of looking at themselves when things aren't going so well, there are a lot of trolls that rather hang around in spawn or just walk towards the enemy team and only say hello, then there are also people that just pick horrible characters and get no kills with them but refuse to pick anything else. This makes Overwatch ranked mode, at least on the Xbox One, a very unpleasant place!

People take the game too serious or some not serious enough?

Some people seem to expect to win every match, this is of course ridiculous because you don't win every match and I don't expect to win every match. I won six out of ten placement matches and the four I didn't win was mostly thanks to toxic teams and very unfair matchmaking. You see some people who aren't ranked are in a team with people that already have a rank and when they bring their diamond ranked friends into the placement matches then team no communication, no teamwork and no rank is usually doomed. I have already accepted this that some people are seriously scumbags for doing this, because what kind of sad sack of shit needs a group of high ranked players to help him or her in the placement matches? Right, a sad sack of shit! This isn't just unfair but also very annoying, it really sucks out the fun of the match and you really just wait until you lose and there is very little you can do about it because your team doesn't communicate and everyone just either rushes in on their own or hangs around in spawn. Then there are also a lot of rage quitters, I really thought this was being handled but in five of my placements matches someone left and in one match three people left. That is very frustrating when you were doing well and then someone just decides to leave and pretty much dooms the team with that. What also happened a lot that after waiting more than two minutes in matchmaking for getting a team I finally get into a match and then someone on the other team decides he or she doesn't want to risk it against my team and leaves which cancels the match and you're back in the main menu. This happened at least six times and it's so annoying that every time that when I had a decent team this happened but when I face a team of one guy who wasn't ranked yet and brings five of his friends in his group that are all diamond ranked then everything is fine and you're just ready to lose. This is something I hate and somehow Blizzard just can't seem to fix this because a lot of people play like a sad sack of shit, they take the game so serious that they want things in their favor and pretty much have a guaranteed win. The moment they're not that certain they immediately leave so the match is cancelled. I understand that you really want to win and get a good rank but seriously it's a game and just play fair and have fun, is that really so hard? Then there are also the trolls that don't care about anything except being a douchebag the entire match. They will not attack and just run up to the enemy team and keep doing the hello emote. I know this is very popular in quickplay but in ranked mode I expect a bit more professional players because why else would you play ranked mode? Oh right to be an annoying douchebag!

Overwatch ranked mode isn't for me?

I don't know about you but I know that it's not for me. Without a decent team it's just a nightmare to actually get things done and there is no fun for you when all you do is getting annoyed of how you lose match after match because your team seems to throw the game by their individual actions constantly. I try to communicate, I try to be nice but when all you get is silence and stupidity then it's just better to do something else because it's just not worth it. It's great that some people have a great time playing ranked mode but for me it's just not happening, because if you don't know other players that are the same level as you and also just want to have fun and try to get good results you're just in for a bad time. It's better to focus on quickplay and try to earn some achievements/trophies or jump into arcade mode and earn some loot boxes in a less serious environment. Ranked mode is just toxic and absolutely not for a lone wolf because there are too many people in groups that will just crush your team of solo players and without communication and teamwork there is nothing you can do about it. Somehow I did manage to keep my platinum rank, I also earned this in season 2 of ranked mode, so I'm at least happy about that but you will not see me play ranked mode again until season 4 starts. Eventhough I'm not even certain about that, maybe it's time to just move on to another multiplayer game...
