Destiny: Taken King Dlc

I was actually surprised to hear so soon of this dlc, especially since House of Wolves has only been available for just a month. But sometimes you get pleasant surprises and this dlc looks interesting, mostly because of the ominous feeling you get while watching the trailer. Something bad is coming your way, someone or something that wants you dead! So it's a good thing you get some new weapons and skills to defend yourself. A new subclass? Every class gets one new subclass, I don't know the names but I can describe what I saw. The hunter gets a bow made out of void energy that can shoot void arrows which might be as deadly as the golden gun or you can fire more arrows but do less damage. The titan gets a hammer, now before you laugh at the size I do think it's pretty cool because it gives the titan solar damage and you can throw it on the ground in a way that reminds me a bit of Thor in the Marvel movies. The warlock gets an arc damage barrage that looks a lot like wha...

Women are taking over in games?

It's something I didn't think was possible and yet here we are, the point where it's not unusual that the main character in a game is a woman. Not that there is anything wrong with that but it's unexpected for me, because from the Mario days I was used to seeing male main characters in games with sometimes a support role for a female character. That's the way it was and how I thought it would be for the future, well it seems that I'm wrong. Why are there more female main characters? It's easy to say that this is because there are more female gamers but I don't think that this is news, they've been there for a long time but maybe people are now finally starting to notice that. It might be cheap to say but maybe female characters sell games better? For example when people want you to buy an expensive car then it's not unusual to put an attractive woman next to the car, eventhough that woman has nothing to do with the car it can be a motivator f...

Looking back at.....Batman Arkham City!

I probably talked about this game before but I can't help but do it again, because it's a great game! I think a lot of Batman fans were waiting for a game like Arkham City, play as Batman in the city and do all the cool moves he also does. As a bonus you can also play as Catwoman, so that gives players a nice diversion from Batman and allows you to kick ass in style. It's actually difficult to find something bad about this game, well maybe the open part of the city isn't as big as you'd hope but it's still pretty big! Stealth and action. When you think of Batman then you probably think of some cool moves he has to tackle even the toughest villains there are. But Batman isn't just a scrapper, he also has some cool stealth moves. It's cool that this game, just like all the Arkham games, has both qualities of Batman. So one moment you take on a group of armed enemies in a fight while the other moment you sneak through an area and take out enemies one by...

Sinful Sunday: Patience is a virtue?

When you look at the total amount of time you spend on waiting in your life then it wouldn't surprise me that this is more than five years. You wait for the bus, wait for your class to begin, wait for the release of a new game, wait for your date, you wait in traffic and you of course have loading screens in games that keep you waiting. So it's safe to say that you need patience, unfortunately not all of us have that much patience and it's easy to lose your temper because you spend so much time on waiting. Why do you have to wait? Otherwise there would be chaos, at least that's how I see it. Let's say you go to a shop and you want to buy something, but there are other people that also want to buy something and if you all want to be helped at the same time then that would create chaos. The same counts when you're in traffic, you can't all go at the same time, you have to wait sometimes to keep a steady flow in traffic. In games it's even more frustrat...

Black Ops 3 multiplayer, WTF?

I must admit that the Blacks Ops 3 multiplayer reveal trailer didn't really impress me, oh sure it looks like fun but in fact it's just insane fast action where half of the time you hardly see what's going on. Maybe that's how multiplayer is now, fast and chaotic. But I can't say that I like it. It's better to steal a good idea? One of the first things that really popped out was the wall running, this makes the combat faster and a bit less predictable but at the same time it feels like they took it straight out of Titanfall. Not that there is anything wrong with taking something good from a game to improve your own game but I don't know if CoD really needs it. I'm glad that the exo suits are gone, I really don't like the look of those things and no matter how cool your character looks you still wear that ridiculous exo skeleton. But you do seem to be more mobile than before, perhaps no insane exo jumps but you definitely have more freedom in move...

Metal Gear Solid V is incredible!

Imagine a game where you pick the mission, where you decide what to do, where you can customize weapons and even your own base! That's just a taste of all the freedom you get in Metal Gear Solid V, because the game is full of choices and options that give you several ways of completing missions and eventually the game. With so much freedom, do you even know where to start? Play the way you want to play? That's right, you can play the game the way you want to play it. Which means sneaking and keeping a low profile or bursting in with a tank and shoot the shit out of everyone! Of course there is a lot of space between these two extremes but you definitely get a chance to complete a mission in your own way. There isn't one way to complete a mission, there are several ways to complete a mission. It's usually smarter to use stealth but sometimes you just want to go on a rampage, I think everyone that has played GTA and/or Saints Row games knows what I'm talking about...

Fallout 4 will be the game of the year?

For some time I thought that Metal Gear Solid 5 would be the game of the year and then there's Fallout 4 showing an amazing open world with a customizable character and you get a dog and you can build your own base and you can do so much more in this amazing game! Ok maybe Fallout 4 won't be the game of the year but it still looks impressive! You and your dog against the world? Now that brings back some nice Fable 2 and 3 memories! Except this time it's in a post apocalyptic open world, which might not sound cool but it is. Early on you will meet a dog, it's up to you if you want to travel with the dog or not. But I think a lot of people would want to travel with the dog, because first of all dogs are cool and second the dog helps you in a fight and can get things for you. You can command your dog and that gives you some new gameplay to mess around with, but I'm certain that most of the fighting is still reserved for yourself. You also don't have to worry ab...

Final Fantasy VII remake!

I must admit that this didn't come as a big surprise, there were rumors for a long time and somehow I just knew they would do it. But at the same time it also felt like wishful thinking, sometimes you want something so badly that you believe that it's going to happen. I guess with Final Fantasy VII it was tricky to say that they would make a remake. It makes sense knowing that it's a popular game and a lot of people have asked for a remake, at the same time making a remake of one of their older games isn't really what Square Enix does so it did feel like it wasn't going to happen. But guess what? The Final Fantasy VII remake is coming! Are people really interested in a remake of FF VII? I think so, just look at the amount of people that played FF VII and enjoyed the games that came after that. Of course not every FF VII game was as good as the first, for example Dirge of Cerberus (when you play as Vincent Valentine) isn't one of the best games out there but ...

Playing Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One?

With all the news I got from the E3 news articles this is one that I consider as important, because now thanks to a future update Xbox One players can play Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One. I do think this should've been the case from launch but I guess it's better late than never! How does this work? If you purchased digital games then they should be in your game library after the update, eventhough not all games are available directly but it's the plan that a lot of Xbox 360 games will be playable on your Xbox One. If you have a game disc of your Xbox 360 game then you have to install it on your Xbox One harddrive before you can play it. Yes that means even less space for the 500 GB harddrive users but at least you can play your Xbox 360 game on your Xbox One. Also the performance will be a bit better on the Xbox One, just don't expect super graphics but it's more like it runs better mostly thanks to installing it and the Xbox One system. So goodbye Xbox 360...

Looking back at.....Skyrim!

I remember the hype around this game, people shouting in the streets dragonborn or humming the theme you hear in the trailer. Well maybe it wasn't that crazy but a lot of people were super excited about this game and I have to admit it's a pretty cool game to play! You're the chosen one. No not like the Star Wars chosen one, in the Elder Scrolls Skyrim you're the dragonborn which means you can absorb the soul of a dragon you've slain to become stronger. It doesn't matter what race you pick, you're the chosen one. But some NPCs will respond different to you depending on your race, the Nords aren't a big fan of outsiders and that pretty much sums up all the other races in the game. Especially elves are hated, so you might want to think about that when you pick a race. Of course that doesn't mean that it's ruined if you play as another race, especially since there are also a lot of NPCs that don't care about that or even like the idea that a...

Sinful Sunday: Not getting along with other gamers

In the early days of online gaming I loved the idea of playing games with other people, but I was younger and definitely not yet a big pessimist. Now I prefer to play single player games, spend as little time around other people and just do my own thing. I guess online multiplayer isn't for everyone... Online gaming is for assholes? Well that's a bit harsh, but it probably won't surprise you that there are a lot of assholes online. People that just go online to annoy others, which makes it not worth your time to spend any time on communicating with other people. Just look at the Elder Scrolls Online, in every town there are often people just hanging around to shout at other people or annoy them. Instead of playing the game they prefer to be assholes online, because that's apparently worth buying the game for. Oh wait they probably have a parent that's dumb enough to buy it for them. The same counts for Destiny, when I play online with others (for example in the ...

Should you buy the 1 terabyte Xbox One console?

Simple answer, no! Why? Because there's a good chance that you already bought the Xbox One with 500 GB so why buy the same console twice just for extra space? It's not that this allows you to play different games, it's not that this console let's you perform better online and it doesn't look better either. Unless you're Harvey Dent, I guess then you would dig the new look... Why would you be against the 1 terabyte Xbox One? Because it's bullshit, why buy for extra space when you can easily get rid of old games on your harddrive. Unless you're one of those people that needs to have acces to all games at all times. But even with one terabyte you won't have unlimited space, just twice the amount you have now. So you ask yourself, is that worth spending more money on or buying the same console twice? Assuming you first bought the 500 GB Xbox One. The 1 terabyte Xbox One should be the standard Xbox One? Absolutely! I mean with 500 GB you don't...

When you shouldn't play a game

Shouldn't play a game? Yes, that's right when you shouldn't play a game. It seems weird but sometimes it's better not to play a game, especially when there is a pretty good reason why you shouldn't play a game. I'm not saying we all have the same reasons but it usually does come down to the same things, which is either frustration or getting bored with a game. Frustration is a game killer? It is to me, when a game frustrates me then I'm not going to have a good time playing this game. No matter how much time I spend in this game it will usually only go from bad to worse. Which is why I stop playing games that frustrate me, because frustration isn't fun and when I'm not having fun I don't want to play that game anymore. Sure there are moments when games can be lame, but I'm not talking about just a moment but a long line of things that annoy or frustrate you. For example I decided to play Destiny today, I check Xûr for some new stuff and t...

The Elder Scrolls Online (single player experience)

Yes I know that the Elder Scrolls Online is a great way to play with others and go on quests together, but what if you prefer to play solo like me? Then you're going to be ok because the Elder Scrolls Online is quite playable solo. Sure some enemies might be a bit tougher to beat but with some many quests to choose from you can always switch to another quest and pick the quest you had trouble with later when you're a higher level. It's definitely not needed to team up, maybe in the long run that keeps the game alive longer but I don't think you're forced to do that at any point. Who are you in the game? You start in some type of prison, except this is no normal prison as it's a place of torture and death! It seems you've been killed in a sacrifice and now your soul is stuck in a place where you'll go insane if you don't escape. To keep a long story short, you escape and you're alive (kind of I guess) again. Before you started you could pick y...

It takes forever to install games?

So I installed the Elder Scrolls Online yesterday and it took 11 hours to install it! Oh it's not a record and I don't expect people to be surprised by that, but it's ridiculous that this can happen. It's usually the combination of a big game, a launch day update and slow internet that can make this a long experience. Installing games sucks? That's what I first thought, I mean starting on my Xbox One I wasn't happy that I spend the first couple of hours with my new game watching the game being installed. I never install games, except GTA V on the Xbox 360, because I just want to start playing. Why would you even install a game? Well games usually run better when you install them, which means less issues and usually shorter loading screens. But is that worth installing it? I'd probably still wouldn't do it but unfortunately you have to install games on your Xbox One to play them, so it's not that you have a choice here. So yeah installing games su...

Shot blockers in games

Have you ever had to wait for the bus, let's say you stand there for 15 minutes, and then when it's just a couple of minutes before the bus shows up some douchebag decided to show up and stand right in front of you. This guy or girl thinks it ok to stand in front of the line showing up last, because that's what a douchebag does. It probably doesn't surprise you that these type of people also play games, where you are shooting an enemy and this dipshit decides to stand right in front of you and then shoots at the enemy as well. I don't think I have to explain how frustrating that is. An accident or on purpose? That's not always clear, some people didn't intend on blocking your shots but then again there are assholes out there that do it on purpose and don't give a shit about anything. I guess it's easy to assume that this person is an asshole and does it on purpose, but it's difficult to say if it happens quickly. I mean we probably all blocke...

Looking back at.....the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion!

This game is the first game I bought for my Xbox 360, I heard good things about it and the description on the box kind of convinced me to give it a try. Which was a smart move because I really enjoyed playing Oblivion! The freedom, the choices, the classes and skills in this game plus memorable characters that made the game fun to play. It's no surprise that I got all achievements in this game and I still kept playing it, something that is quite rare these days! Freedom! No not Braveheart style, it's what you get the moment you escape the sewers after the tutorial. In the tutorial you decide your race, class and your sign. You already begin to make progress with some skills but it's really when you're out of the sewers that you see a big open world and you can go where you want to go. Sure you can follow the quest but you can also go your own way, the main quest doesn't suffer under that and nothing is timed. So if you want to learn how to be a mage then you can...

Sinful Sunday: Your girlfriend beats you in a game

For quite some time this was something I tried to avoid at all costs, even if it meant cheating a bit. With cheating I mean pulling the controller out of her hands or block her view of the tv, but that's still not fair and I guess I'm an immature asshole when it comes to these things. But do you know why I did it? Because you don't want to hear for the next ten years how she beat you in a game, it doesn't matter if you beat in every other match because you'll only hear about how she beat you in that one match! So yes I'll do my best to avoid being beaten by my girlfriend. What's so bad about losing to a girl? Oh that's not what I mean, I meant specifically losing to your girlfriend. I don't give a shit losing to a girl, I know that there are female gamers out there that are way better than me and I see no shame in losing to someone that beat me fair and square. It's really the girlfriend part of hearing how she beat you for the rest of your t...

Neverwinter is worth checking out?

You've probably noticed this game on your dashboard (Xbox One players) and wondered if this game is good, well I gave it a try and I must admit that I enjoyed playing this game. It reminds me a bit of Guild Wars except now I can play it on my console and it's completely free! So if you're waiting for the Elder Scrolls Online or you're just looking for something else to play then I can definitely recommend Neverwinter to you. Free to play? Yes free to play, you don't even have to buy this game because you can download it for free. Ok what's the catch? So far the catch is that if you want cool stuff you'll have to buy keys with real money so you can open up lockboxes you find in the world that might have some cool stuff for you. Think about cool looking mounts or weapons and armor that is pretty good and looks amazing too. But you don't need that, you can play the entire game without spending any money. So if you're a budget gamer then this game mi...

Graphics matter?

I'm actually surprised by the amount of people that call a game shit just because the graphics are less than top quality. Maybe that's the spoiled new generation or just a bunch of douchebags that need to find something to whine about but honestly who the fuck cares about graphics when the gameplay and story are awesome! Do graphics really matter? That depends who you ask and what type of game it is, because in some games graphics are just a luxury while in others it's a necessary to actually see what's going on or to spot important items. But I think games like Borderlands and the Walking Dead have proved that games don't need to have fancy graphics to be amazing. One of my favourites, the wolf among us, is also a game without fancy graphics and yet it's amazing! I remember seeing Final Fantasy VIII for the first time and loved the intro and thought that those were the best graphics ever, of course that wasn't true but in the moment things sometimes loo...

Fallout 4 is coming!

Ok that's not really news, I mean we all kind of new that Fallout 4 was coming but we just didn't know exactly when. Well it seems that Fallout 4 might be available sooner than you think! It might even be this year, eventhough Bethesda hasn't confirmed that. I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer for more information but that doesn't change that I'm super excited about this game! What can you expect from Fallout 4? First of all it takes place in Boston, the town even has some interesting parts where things don't looked very bad and yet I'm pretty certain that there will be areas where things are going to be very bad. Then there is a floating ship, which looks pretty cool, that might play a role in the story or could even become your base of operations. I also saw thunder in the trailer so hopefully this means that you also get weather effects when you're out in the wasteland. In the trailer you also see a dog, which turns out to be the companion...

Why would someone kill himself/herself in a game?

Ever since my Mario adventures I've always wondered why someone people go for the gap why most people would want to jump over, at first I thought some people are just being silly and yet it seems that some try to make an art of it. Even now people still do it, just play Destiny and go to the tower and you'll always find someone jumping to his or her death. So what makes killing yourself in a game so much fun? Giving death the finger? We all know that one day we die, you can't escape that and it sucks that there is nothing you can do about that. But in games you can die a thousand times and still you're ok, well you might be pissed off if that happens a lot in a game but at least you don't die in real life. So I was wondering, do people like killing themselves in a game just to give death the finger? You tell death to suck it and just respawn, which is funny in a way I guess but it's kind of odd why so many people would do that and for so long. It's a w...

Destiny: Prison of Elders needs matchmaking, now!

Of course there is one arena where you get matchmaking, but that's only useful for getting Vanguard marks quickly. If you want an armor core (to buy the best legendary armor), a weapon core (to buy some interesting looking legendary weapons) or ethereal light (to upgrade lower level legendary armor and weapons to the highest level) then you need to form your own team and you can't get it if you can't form a team. Which means up to this point that about half the people are stuck at level 32 and can't reach a higher level. Why does the Prison of Elders needs matchmaking? Because people are stuck on level 32, they try to form teams online but I'm certain a lot of people are still having trouble forming teams. It's ridiculous that Bungie gives you matchmaking in the first arena and then no matchmaking in the other arenas. In a way you only get half the dlc if you can't form a team in the House of Wolves dlc, because you can't play the Prison of Elders an...

Looking back at.....Resident Evil Code Veronica X!

When I first saw Resident Evil Code Veronica X I wasn't super excited, playing as Claire didn't really interest me and it didn't look like this game was going to be that different from the previous games. But then I saw more, you could also play as Chris and Wesker returns! Suddenly this game became a lot more interesting and I couldn't wait to play it! The search for Chris. At the start of the game you play as Claire, she's looking for her brother Chris Redfield and is captured by Umbrella (the evil corporation that is responsible for the Raccoon City incident). Something goes horribly wrong on the island she's on and in the chaos she escapes from her cell, but zombies are walking around everywhere and once again it becomes a struggle to survive. She gets some help from a guy called Steve, this guy is a bit annoying but he doesn't play a big role in the game so it's nothing to worry about if you truly dislike Steve. It's puzzle time as usual and...
