Confessions of a gamer

It seems simple when I think about it, to treat someone the way you would like to be treated. Unfortunately this isn´t as simple as you might think. Having a different opinion is often enough to be insulted or even attacked. This happens a lot online, sometimes even without a real reason for it. But I´m not that suprised really, just turn on your tv and watch the news or read a newspaper and you´ll see that it doesn´t take much for people to act like idiots. So why should it be different online? Personally I think it´s worse online, because people that feel safe behind their screens are often more loud then they would ever be face to face. Some people are also more detached online, they don´t really think about what they say and what they do. It´s just some random name that pops up on your screen, so why should you feel bad about it? Because that random name is a person, someone with feelings and emotions that deserve some respect! Anyone can be an idiot online, it doesn´t take much ...

Somehow I enjoy games a lot more when I feel I have a connection with the main character or at least one of the characters in the group you´re playing with. It doesn´t always have to be about appearance, but I´ll admit that it helps sometimes. For example I have that rugged look like Bigby Wolf in the game the wolf among us, so playing as him is more fun than playing as a smooth skin child or a woman. It can still be fun, but it´s a lot more difficult to put yourself in that position. Which helps me a lot in enjoying the story, but maybe that´s just my way of playing games. When the main character looks nothing like me, both in appearance and in personality then I find it difficult to play as that person. Especially if there are role playing elements in the game, because I constantly feel like I don´t belong there. As if you´re a spirit trapped in the wrong body or something like that, not really something that helps you enjoy the game. But a lot of games don´t really put you in that...

After some thinking I decided to buy this game anyway, because I´ve played all the other Assassin´s Creed games on consoles and I did enjoy most of those. I usually try to soak up as much information before I buy a guy, this way I try to prevent myself from buying a game I don´t like, because it sucks if you waste your money on something you don´t really like. At the same time I try not to learn too much of the story because I don´t want to ruin the experience for myself, I mean if I know some major spoilers then I don´t feel much like playing the game anymore. I haven´t played the multiplayer yet, because I Always first want to play the singleplayer. But the moment I´ve played it and got some experience in it, I´ll talk about it more. I must admit that I really wanted to buy this game but something inside me kept me from buying it on the day it was released. As a kid I´d watch a horror movie with my parents, of course they didn´t always realize that and yes that sometimes gave me nightmares. But when I would be watching the movie I´d be ok, because I had my parents there with me. When I first started playing survival horror games I wasn´t that interested in trying that, because I still had thoughts about the nightmares that came along with my horror experiences. But a friend gave me Resident Evil and I loved it, sure the moment the dogs jump through the window I was probably jumping against the ceiling but it was fun! But it was really Silent Hill that convinced me to buy more survival horror games, because that game is just so good! I didn´t even realize it at first but there are a lot of scary games, at least games that take you off the safe path of Mario and his friends. Sometimes I see messages of people that are new to a game and constantly get destroyed in matches, which doesn´t really help them enjoy the game. Especially when you´re new to games like Battlefield or Call of Duty then you´re in trouble when you have very little experience with these type of games. But also fighting games like Street Fighter or Tekken come with frustrations, we all lose sooner or later but when you lose every fight then things get annoying very quickly! How do I win? Well I could say you need to practice and find your way in a game, but sometimes you´re just not good enough in a game. Some people will say that with practice you can be good at any game, but really sometimes your reflexes are just too slow and with other games you just have difficulties remembering all button combinations. Not that I´m saying you can´t win with doing the same move over and over again in a fighting game, but really you don´t want to be that guy or girl! Just because you like playing a ...

Have you ever played a game that was no longer fun for you? At first things looked good, you had fun with it and things seemed to be interesting. But after some time you discovered things in the game that annoyed you, which made you dislike the game more and more. Then there really comes a point if you want to continue with the game and try to finish it or if you´re just going to get rid of it. Because going through a game that isn´t fun is really just a waste of time. Or is it? I know that some achievement/trophy hunters play games because of achievements/trophies that are easy to get, which is a good way to boost your score or get more platinum trophies. I think you really need to be focused for something like that, because if I play a game that annoys the crap out of me or is just not fun at all then I find it difficult to get through that or even complete that game! Have you ever played a game that was so good that you really hoped that they would make another one? But unfortunately it never came. Maybe it´s for the best sometimes, because when a good game gets a sequel then it´s always the question if it´s as good as the first one. At least that´s what you would hope, it would be even better if the sequel is even more fun than the first game. But that´s quite rare, I haven´t played many games that were actually better than the first game. So that kind of makes you wonder, do you really want to see a sequel on a very good game? I think it really depends what the developers are doing, I mean if it´s just more of the same then I can´t really say that I´m that excited for that. But that doesn´t mean that you want a completely different game, the best thing that can happen if they take good things from the first game and add new interesting things in the sequel.
