You're not like everyone else and that's ok?
Do you ever feel like you're one of the few people who actually doesn't like something and other people think you're weird because you don't like that? The fact is that you're not the only one, there are a lot of people who don't like certain things but it's usually the people that do like something that are the loudest. The same could be said vice versa, when you really like something and all you see and hear are people being negative about what you like. I guess some people are just louder than others but never let that give you the impression that you're the only one that feels that way.
It's ok to feel different about something?
Some people like to be a sheep, to follow others in what they do or how they feel about something. I know that's a safe choice and you can pretty much walk along with the other sheep and be a bunch of sheep together. But honestly do you really want to be a sheep? There is nothing wrong with liking something that a lot of other people also like but like something because you like it and not to just hide among others with your fake opinion. Don't be afraid to say what you think and it doesn't have to be the same what others think. If you hate rap music it doesn't make you a social outcast, in my opinion it means you probably have a better taste in music than some people. But does that make rap music bad? Not really, I guess it depends who you ask. I can say that I don't like it, but that's an opinion and not a fact. As long as you state your opinion as an opinion then nobody has the right to say that you're wrong because it's your opinion. Having an opinion that isn't very popular might be scary for some people but don't follow other people in their opinion when it's not how you really feel about it. I mean you can pretend but how long are you going to keep that up? I think it's better to be honest, even if it might be embarrassing it's how you feel about something and your real friends will respect that. Just try to be respectful towards their opinion, that would be a nice thing to do.
You don't have to be like everyone else?
I wouldn't even want that! Seriously? To be just like everyone else? That would be boring and absolutely annoying! I like to go my own way, do my own thing and have my own opinion on everything. That doesn't mean that I don't want others to agree with me but I'm definitely not looking for approval or find others to back me up with my opinion. People don't have to agree with me, people don't even have to like me. I am comfortable with myself, I wasn't always comfortable with myself but there is a lot you can learn and sometimes you have to learn to accept yourself before others can accept you. Perhaps some people already accept you for who you and and you're still not accepting yourself. It's possible and can make it hard for you to find some happiness in your life. Don't pretend to be someone you're not, be yourself and embrace who you are. We're all unique creatures and try to make the most of what we have in our lives. Why waste time on being someone you're not or trying to please someone with lies. If your friends can handle that you feel different about something then maybe these people aren't really your friends. If people can't stand the real you then maybe these people aren't worth getting to know. There is enough negativity in the world, so try to focus on the positive things and find that little bit of happiness for yourself and do what makes you happy!
