You're no longer the gamer you used to be?
We all change, no one stays the same. No matter how hard you try to hold on to the person you once were or you are now you will change. Of course that doesn't mean you have to become completely different but often through experiences in your life you change. Sometimes for good and sometimes for bad, I guess it really depends on the person and what exactly happens in his or her life. But it remains a fact that we all change, literally every cell in our body changes and we're physically no longer the same person we were as a baby. Is that a bad thing? Well no, but I understand that some people are against change and prefer to keep things as they were. It probably doesn't surprise you that some of these people are gamers and they don't like to see that change as well because they prefer to keep things the way they are.
Change isn't such a bad thing?
I used to hate change, I would cling on to people and things in my life and I wanted things to stay the same. But it's a very unrealistic way of looking at things and it also makes you a bit of a weirdo. I mean you can't hold on to things forever, there comes a time when you have to let go. This lets you grow as a person and eventually will make you stronger. That was a difficult lesson for me to learn but eventually I learned it and it has made me a different person, hopefully for the best. As a gamer I used to stick to one console and play the same type of games. Often platformers on my NES and later on my SNES. I never switched to the Sega consoles and later I didn't want to switch to the Playstation either. Why switch when you're happy with what you have right now? But that also meant I missed out on a lot of fun games, because exclusives already existed in those times as well. That was annoying but a sacrifice I could live with. Unfortunately things keep changing and I could hold on to the consoles and games I loved to play. I eventually learned to accept new consoles and took changes with Sony and Microsoft and I never regretted that. It was scary at first to try something new but it's nice doing new things and not stick to the same old things. Change is scary at first but once you're used to it then it's like you never want to think back at how it used to be. Things can be better and even if you're happy with something it doesn't mean that things can't be better.
You can't fight change?
You can try but I'm afraid that you're going to lose that fight, even if you stand still then the whole world around you will change and then one day you will wake up in a place that you don't recognize and I wonder how happy that will make someone. There is nothing wrong with sticking to things you like, never force yourself into things you're not comfortable with but don't be afraid to try something new. To embrace something unfamiliar and to take a risk in your life. I'm not saying to take all your savings and try your luck in the casino but maybe go on a trip and see a bit of the world or step outside your comfort zone and try something new in your life. For gamers it's pretty much the same idea. Instead of only playing a certain genre, for example first person shooters, you could try other genres and who knows you might actually like those as well. But you'll never know if you don't try!
I'm no longer the same person I used to be?
As much as the past version of me would hate to admit it I can say now that I have changed and that I am no longer the person I used to be. For better or for worse I have changed and that's not a bad thing. When everything in your life always stays the same then you lead a simple and boring life, it doesn't have to be boring but to others it will look boring and not like a fun life. I know that not everyone is looking for the deeper meaning in life or that they want to experience a lot of different things in their life but since you only live once here you might want to make the most of it. So don't be afraid of trying new things and don't be afraid of change. Try new things and as a gamer play different games, you might like it or you might hate it but if you never try it you'll never know for certain! Sometimes I miss the old times, how things were at the start or from a point that I really liked but I can't stop change and no matter how much I wished that certain moments would last forever I know in my heart that it's not possible. You have to move on and have to accept changes, it's part of your life and life because a lot better when you accept that instead of fight it. Besides life becomes a bit more interesting with change in it, so it's definitely not as bad as some people might think.
