Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. These kind of players are so serious that they probably left the fun behind when they started the game. Sigh... Serious gamers are lame gamers? There is nothing wrong about being serious, but I think there is a time and a place for everything. When I play a game with my friends then I'm not being serious nor am I serious when I start up some random multiplayer match. Sure it's nice to win but it's not everything! Things become more serious when there is something at stake, for example in ranked matches or during a tournament. I understand that things are more serious there an...

You're not like everyone else and that's ok?

Do you ever feel like you're one of the few people who actually doesn't like something and other people think you're weird because you don't like that? The fact is that you're not the only one, there are a lot of people who don't like certain things but it's usually the people that do like something that are the loudest. The same could be said vice versa, when you really like something and all you see and hear are people being negative about what you like. I guess some people are just louder than others but never let that give you the impression that you're the only one that feels that way. It's ok to feel different about something? Some people like to be a sheep, to follow others in what they do or how they feel about something. I know that's a safe choice and you can pretty much walk along with the other sheep and be a bunch of sheep together. But honestly do you really want to be a sheep? There is nothing wrong with liking something that a...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, yay or nay?

I like big open world games where you can dive into and return to the social world weeks later. It's one of the many reasons why I like games like Skyrim and Dragon Age: Inquisition. But I have to admit that with KC:D I'm a bit reluctant to buy it because the game looks good but I've heard some bad things about the game and going from a fantasy RPG to a simulation RPG is something I'm not so certain about. So let's try to look at some of the things this game has to offer and hopefully it sheds some more light on this game and if you would be interested in buying it. The most accurate RPG? A lot of RPGs are fun and usually fantasy plays a big role in that, but KC:D doesn't have any fantasy elements, it's a lot more like a simulation RPG and that means that there is going to be moments where you'll hate the game or might get bored. For example trying to pick a lock is often not a big deal in a game, in KC:D you actually have to do your best to pick tha...

Friday the 13th the game, single player modes looks interesting?

When I first played Friday the 13th, I say played but it actually took two weeks until I could finally play it because quickplay didn't work for me, it was a big disappointment for me. The game just didn't turn out as fun as I hoped it would be and I think up to this day the game is mostly enjoyable with a group of friends. When you play the game with strangers it's just by far not as much fun. But a single player mode is coming and that means that the unlucky players that are doomed to join solo queue can still get their fun playing as Jason and kill some counselors. Now that does look like fun! Finally the game will be fun for everyone? I can't speak for everyone else but I can definitely see a liking to this single player mode. Now you can play as Jason without having to deal with trolls or other annoying people trying to make your life miserable or people teaming up with Jason just to screw the other players over. In single player mode you have to kill the couns...

You're no longer the gamer you used to be?

We all change, no one stays the same. No matter how hard you try to hold on to the person you once were or you are now you will change. Of course that doesn't mean you have to become completely different but often through experiences in your life you change. Sometimes for good and sometimes for bad, I guess it really depends on the person and what exactly happens in his or her life. But it remains a fact that we all change, literally every cell in our body changes and we're physically no longer the same person we were as a baby. Is that a bad thing? Well no, but I understand that some people are against change and prefer to keep things as they were. It probably doesn't surprise you that some of these people are gamers and they don't like to see that change as well because they prefer to keep things the way they are. Change isn't such a bad thing? I used to hate change, I would cling on to people and things in my life and I wanted things to stay the same. But it...

Outfits in games, not because you need them but because you like them

Have you ever had an outfit for your character in a game that you liked so much that you kept it on eventhough you had better outfit but that you didn't like that much? Then you're probably just like me when it comes to these kind of games that give outfits certain stats and you just don't care about those. Even in a first person type of game I would still want my character to look good, who cares that the ugly armor gives me higher stats! I want to look good! Because looking good often relates to feeling good, at least I want to believe that's true. Why would you wear an outfit with lower stats? It's easy to keep swapping outfits just for the stats, I know I do this in games like Diablo 3 and I also did that in the legendary adventures of Van Helsing III but I'm never really happy about it. Sometimes you get this ugly piece of clothing that just looks stupid. For example a hat that ruins the whole outfit but if you can't hide headwear that means you hav...

I hate Monday: When games give your character a stamina bar

I honestly hate the stamina bar, it somehow always screws you over and you never seem to have enough. Are you in a hurry? Sorry it's recharging! Do you need to use a power attack? Sorry it's not full enough! Trying to dodge an attack? Sorry you're out of stamina and now you stand still like a jackass and you're easily hit multiple times! Yeah the stamina bar, fuck that annoying piece of crap in every game! Why do you have a stamina bar in certain games? That's a good question and I always thought that it was some lame way for developers to slow the player down. If you would have infinite sprint you would be able to get from one point to the other way too fast and that would mean you're done faster with the game. You would probably also miss out on side quests or other things that happen in the game because you can rush forward constantly. I guess in those situations it makes sense, you don't want the player to rush too quickly because then you would miss...

Sinful Sunday: You don't want others to have what you have?

When you play a game it's nice when you unlock things or earn certain things. It's even nicer when this item is pretty rare and not a lot of people have it. That makes it even better to have, but what if this item becomes less rare and more people have it? Are you annoyed by that or do you have no problems with other people having the same item as you? Surprisingly a lot of people aren't happy with this, they want unique items and in such a way that hardly anyone else has the same item they have. I understand their point of view but it's pretty selfish in my opinion because why should you be one of the few to have that item? You don't want to share? In fact you're not even sharing these items. Everyone has his or her own version of that item, but I guess some people have huge issues with that because seeing other people use the same weapon or wearing the same outfit just rubs some people the wrong way. But isn't this just very childish? I mean not wantin...

Competitive multiplayer, be the hero or zero?

Competitive multiplayer, the place where legends are born or people get brutally destroyed in online competitive matches. It can be a simple deathmatch, where everyone is the enemy, or you can work together with friends or strangers and try to win. It seems simple but it sometimes just takes one thing to ruin everything or to grab the win. I think it's this tension and high risk high reward system that draws so many people in. But we all try to be the hero while in fact most of us will most likely not play that role often or at all. When you win life is good? Oh yes! When you win you're the hero, well in some games at least. I've seen people carry a team and pretty much getting them the victory and not getting one thank you or like for that effort. I guess the hero can't always get the praise but I think most people realize that they played an important role in that victory. It's nice when people cheer and when they're happy, when you could play an important...

Games you keep going back to

When you play a game for the first time it's often a fun and exciting time, everything is new and you can explore the game or pretty much do your own thing in that game. But once you beat the game and/or play the game for several weeks you do get tired of it eventually, I'm mostly talking about personal experience but I think I'm not the only one who feels that way, and that makes the game less interesting to play. Eventhough that game is now less interesting to play and you know pretty much all there is to that game you sometimes find yourself playing that game again, maybe not right away but after a couple of months or maybe more than a year. Does that make sense? Well it makes sense to me! Going back to games you already played? It might seem weird and without new dlc it might seem like a really weird thing to do, but for me it's nice to go back to games I already played. Just to get back into a game I enjoyed playing is like coming home, it's a nice and fami...

Why do you accept bad things in certain games?

When I read certain game reviews and here other people talk about certain games I often see people accept bad things in games, things that shouldn't be acceptable at all and yet they seem to accept it because they enjoy playing that game. Which makes sense but does that mean you should shut your eyes for the bad things in that game? No, I don't think so! Good games have bad things in them? I know I keep saying bad things but what I really mean with that is things in a game that annoy you or that are just not that fun to do. Think of repetitive missions, a bug or glitch that makes your character freak out or some performance issues. In certain games these are considered as really bad things, things that can't be and won't be accepted. But then there are games where similar issues are and yet here these bad things, or issues if you want to call them that, are more acceptable and suddenly don't seem to be such a big problem. This makes it difficult for me to take s...

Games help me get through difficult times

I think we all have moments in our lives where things aren't going so well. Something happened that makes you depressed or just fills your heart with sadness. It's easy to get lost in those negative emotions and it makes it that much harder to find a way out of these emotions. Some people seek help, others surround themselves with family and friends, then there are those that try to hide the pain by keeping themselves busy and there are people that try to get through on their own. I'm definitely someone that tries to do things on my own, to heal and to move on without the help of others. Not a healthy thing to do but it's what makes me the person I am. But I do get some help, I play games that make me feel comfortable and help me get through these dark moments in my life. Games help you feel better? I wouldn't say that every game can do that, but sometimes there are certain games that just offer you something that can make you feel better. But this depends on...

Stop delaying games!!!

I know some people are happy a game is delayed, it means that there is more time put into the game so it will be good or at least we all hope that it's going to be good. I understand that and it's nice that the game isn't being rushed, but when games are constantly being delayed then you do get a bit sick and tired of it. I mean sooner or later you do kind of want to play the game and if it's constantly being delayed then you can't play the game. Delaying a game is a good thing? It sounds weird but it actually isn't such a terrible thing. The game gets more time and that means that more bugs and glitches are being fixed. I honestly hate it when you buy a new game and it's full with bugs and glitches, it's so frustrating when you have to deal with that! The more time a game gets the game will be more likely in better condition, which means more fun to play. The downside of the constant delays is that you need a lot of patience and some people get sick...

I hate Monday: When bugs and glitches aren't being fixed

It sucks when a game has bugs and glitches in it, this is something that already makes it more difficult to enjoy a game but when these bugs and glitches are just allowed to exist in the game for a long time then it really becomes annoying because how can play a game that is so frustrating to play? I honestly hate it when games are full of bugs and glitches. Just think of having issues moving around, switching weapons, killing enemies in the game or even saving the game. These are issues that can truly ruin a game for you and somehow they still exist in some games. You'd think that people would test these games but apparently that's not how it works for some games. Why do some games still have bugs and glitches in it? That's the question isn't it? Because you would expect that to be fixed before you launch the game and if for some dumb reason the game did launch with the bugs and glitches in it then you'd expect that to be fixed as soon as possible. Unfortunatel...

Sinful Sunday: To report or not to report another gamer?

A lot of games with online multiplayer have a report player option, this isn't something that should be taken lightly but at the same time people often think that this is mostly for show. But reporting a player can lead to actions being taken to some players, mostly based on the amount of people that report the same person. This often leads to something that needs to be checked because if enough people say that this person is cheating or a toxic person to play with then the chance that this is true becomes bigger with each report from another player. So that kind of makes me wonder, have you ever reported someone? Why would you report another player? I honestly hate reporting other players, I find it such a lame thing to do and honestly I would only do that to people that are obviously cheating or being really toxic. Sometimes I have doubts and then it's really difficult for me to report them, because if I'm wrong then I'm accusing another player of something he or ...

It's easier being a gamer now?

As a kid nobody really talked about gaming, at least not where I grew up. I didn't know who actually played games and who didn't. It wasn't considered as cool to be a gamer and it would often get you the status of nerd or loser if you were considered as someone that played video games. So you can imagine that not everyone was that talkative about that hobby. Of course you eventually learn when people are gamers but people wouldn't be as open about it as now. It was difficult to be a gamer in the past? Well I can't say that I ever had any difficulties with it. I wasn't ashamed of being a gamer but I can't say that I was proud of it either. It was just a hobby I liked to do and that made me happy, but I didn't always share that with everyone. But that wasn't really the difficulty I'm talking about. These days you can look up videos, guides and pretty much get an in game help or support system that can greatly help you get certain achievements/t...

Monster Hunter: World, my experience with the game.

This is the first time I actually played a Monster Hunter game and this plays a huge role in my opinion about this game. Not knowing a lot of things and being bombarded by a shit load of text on the screen about so many things isn't just boring but also something you can skip through quite easily which will screw you over later in the game. My opinion about this game is mostly founded by my own experience with this game and I have to admit that my experience with this game isn't really that positive. Perhaps because I was playing the game wrong, because I didn't know about certain things and because I was playing on my own. Does that mean that Monster Hunter: World is a bad game? I think it means that I had a rough time with this game but for others it can still be fun, feel free to read about my experience with the game and decide for yourself if you're interested in the game or not. The mute hero returns? I like creating my own character and Monster Hunter: World ...
