Best time or worst time of the year?

I always hated the end of August, because school would start again and I never liked that. Your vacation would be over, no longer could you stay up all night and stay in bed every morning. As a gamer I love to spend my day like that, because there is nothing in the morning for me as a gamer and later at night more people go online (for example the Americans) which means more people to play online multiplayer games with. So for gamers going back to school or for others going back to work is really not much fun, because you have less time to play games and you´re expected to spend more time on your study or job. Which makes perfect sense, but that doesn´t mean you have to like it.

But what I really like about the end of August are the new releases, because in Summer you hardly ever get any decent releases and the ones you get aren´t always the ones that get you excited. Maybe if you´re lucky you´ll get a fun game in June but usually July is a bad month for game releases if there even are any. So the end of August and early September usually offer you some nice releases, a way of making school and work a bit more tolerable. Like you have something to look forward to when you´re at school or at your work, I´m not saying it makes the hours go faster but at least you have something to look forward to. But I have to admit that I´m also a bit annoyed by this, that the moment you get some new game releases is also the moment you don´t have all the time to play them. As a student you´ll probably spend a lot of money on books or other things you need, so it kind of sucks that the money you´ve been saving is spend on boring things instead of fun things. Even if you have money to buy games, then it´s difficult to find the time to play them without having your study or work suffer under it.

This year is no exception, once again there are interesting releases that probably get a lot of people excited. Personally I´m looking forward to Saints Row 4 and GTA V! Both games look amazing and will probably keep me busy for quite some time, maybe it´s also the long void I´ve been through this Summer that made me even more happy about these games. It´s not that I can´t entertain myself with the games I already have, but play the same games long enough and you´ll get bored with them sooner or later. I must admit that some good dlc will definately help you through the Summer, so it´s not a new game but at least there is new content for a game which makes it (hopefully) worth playing again. I must admit that this is much better than game releases, the problem might be that you don´t always have the game (anymore) so playing the dlc might be difficult at that point.

So I have to admit that I really love this time of the year because of the releases, like a nice cold bottle of water you find in the middle of the desert. It keeps you going and it might even motivate you, for example when you really don´t like school or you hate you job. If you have something waiting for you at home that you do like then it might help you get through the day. But I can see people staying home a bit more just to play these games and I have to be honest that I don´t blame them, I´ve done it myself and never really had any regrets. It wasn´t smart though, but it sure made the start of my school year a lot better!
